Two separate but related incidents: 1. Sudden complete loss of power on a busy highway interchange. I had to pull over in an unsafe merge point. The truck would not start and had to be towed to a dealership. The tow driver was eventually able to start the truck and load it on a flatbed. The dealership had the vehicle for 3-4 days and replaced the starter and a fuse. 2. Second incident happened approximately 24 hours after getting truck back from the first incident. Sudden loss of power coming up a large hill. Truck completely died and would not start again. Tow truck driver could not get the truck started and therefore could not get the truck in neutral. Tow truck driver had to drag the truck on to a flatbed and tow to a dealership. Dealership reported metal in the oil filter and requires complete engine replacement. The incident happened on December 16th, 2024.

- #11637021January 20, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
There are two systems that are a hazard and dangerous on the Silverado EV. The First one is the Automatic High Beams. The Auto high beams will continuously flash other drivers on the road. This can blind other drivers and possibly case a crash. The other Dangerous safety feature on the vehicle is the Automatic Emergency Braking. The AEB feature when crawling behind another vehicle in bumber to bumper traffic will randomly just slam on the brakes unnecessarily which could cause a rear end collision. When this happens, There is no need for emergency braking as I am in full control of the vehicle. It will just slam on the brakes and the vehicle will come to a complete sudden stop. I have reported the issues to the manufacturer and instead of correcting the issue, They've advised to turn the features off. This defeats the purpose of the vehicle coming with these features. General motors needs to be required to correct these deficincies with a software update.

My engine had to be fully replaced @ 28k miles due a crankshaft bearing failing and sending metal shards through my engine. Stranded me on the side of the highway for three hours. Was able to get to the shoulder before it seized up.Also my entire wiring harness and ECU had to be replaced shortly after the engine.

I was driving down the road when the vehicle shut off and required a restart. After I was able to safely pull to the side of the road with zero power I was able to restart the vehicle after a few tries. The check engine light came on. Upon getting the code checked the CAM sensor is what shut the vehicle off. I was on a busy access road and a crash could have happened if I was not able to move out of the travel lanes.

My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3 V8 developed a "tick" in the engine. The truck has 93,000 miles. Subsequently, the check engine light came on. I scheduled an appointment at David Stanley Chevrolet on the south side of Oklahoma City to have it checked. I explained what the issue was in detail because I have a back ground in engine repair. Also, I'd performed research on line looking for "technical service bulletins. What I found was a history of issues with this engine, (5.3), involving lifters sticking. I informed the young lady of what I'd found. I was called the next day and told that the technician could not "replicate" the issue and I could pick up my vehicular. Less than half a mile from the dealer, I tried to merge onto [XXX] when the engine began to shutter and miss. Thank God, I was able to avoid a rear end collation. I immediately returned to the dealer where the the problem was identified as a "stuck #1 lifter resulting in significant damage to the cam. I have subsequently had this vehicle back to the dealer three additional times trying to repair oil leaks resulting from these repairs. Our check engine light came on 12/17/24 for a oil pressure sensor issue. We promptly brought the truck to the shop where they changed out the sensor, completed an oil change and manually checked the oil pressure. They advised us that the truck was good to drive and there was no indications of any further issues on 12/20/24. 3 hours into our drive on 12/21/24 our engine sized going 80MPH with no warning at 64,000 miles. We got the truck towed to the closest GM dealer where they let us know that the engine had seized. We still have yet to get a clear answer as to what caused the engine to seize other than that it is a "known issue". There were mentions of the lifters as well as storage issues by GM (i.e. their engines were stored in sheds where they may have gotten wet prior to install). GM offered a good will warranty at 60% coverage. They have ordered that engine but no timeline has been given (other than "months" followed by a laugh) because they are on a nationwide backorder. They also have yet to give us any documentation of what occurred and what is being offered by GM even though it has been requested 5 different times. Seems that if you're having a big enough problem to be on a backorder on the engine that this should be pushed to recall and we should be receiving 100% coverage.

Faulty coolant control valve causing reduced engine power at highway speeds and reduced acceleration caused unsafe operation on highway. Was unable to safely maneuver to right lane on highway to allow faster traveling traffic to pass. Fortunately was only about 5 miles from home and was able to operate the vehicle in "limp" mode after traffic cleared. There was no warning just during operation check engine light and reduced engine power displayed on the drivers information center. The vehicle is available for inspection with the defective part because GM can't source a replacement despite occurring nearly eight weeks ago. GM has authorized the warranty repair and is currently at a Chevrolet franchise dealership awaiting repair parts. The manufacture is aware of the issue and has accepted a manufacture engine part is the cause of the issue.

While driving home truck began to misfire and drop in RPM’s. Service ESC and Service Parking Brake popped up on my notification system. My Engine light was blinking and my Traction light was on. While i was turning into my street to get home, my engine shut off. The steering wheel and brakes became hard as the motor wasn't powering them. I was able to turn it on and get it into my drive way. Afterwards when trying to turn it on, it would turn on and shut off immediately. Chevy replaces a fuel pump module for a second time(recall), added a new starter and battery. After Three months they then told me I need a new engine because it has locked itself up. I purchased the vehicle with 32,000 miles and It currently has 49,000 miles. Chevrolet are not going to warranty me a new engine because i do my own oil changes (which were 2). Had this happened on the highway or in traffic, i would've been at a high risk of causing an accident considering power steering and brake system was not working properly.

Truck has been burning oil since it was purchased new in 2020. The truck has needed 6 quarts added between every oil change. It has been to the dealer and they insist nothing is wrong. GM customer service has been no help. Motor has a ticking noise. Finally 2 weeks ago check engine lights came on and loud noises came from motor. Brought it into the dealership and they said full lifter failure and engine scoring and has been like this for awhile now. This is something I brought up to them AND GM support over the last 4 years of owning the vehicle and they always told me there was nothing wrong with it. Private extended warranty is going to cover a new engine, but is on national backorder due to all the issues with the 6.2L engine and others having issues GM won’t acknowledge.

Total catastrophic engine failure. Occurred at roughly 80,000 miles. Engine bearing shattered causing total engine loss. Needed to be replaced. Occurred in May 2023. There were no precursors to the event and the engine had been well maintained. I noticed an investigation of my vehicles engine and thought I should report this.

I spent 40k cash for my 2017 high country to find out GM great idea of AFM and no good 10 speed transmission/torque converter was made with low quality and careless parts. I'm definitely getting me a lawyer to fix this [XXX] because all I've ever wanted was this body style but all they care about is money over quality. GM and they're retail sellers knew about AFW problems and sold us [XXX] anyway. They are saying that transmission issues aren't they're fault and actually getting away with that answer. Who's else fault could it be when it's the same problem with the same model. To be an American and get [XXX] by our own is getting old. If I can get sold [XXX] I can at least get a shovel with it...so I'm getting a damn good shovel/lawyer. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Engine seized at 330 miles. I’ve recently seen the investigation into crank bearing failure on the L87. We upfit new vehicles. This was a test truck. We pulled oil from another identical chassis with 10 miles on it and sent it in for testing to a 3rd party. At 100C/212F the viscosity was under 7 and it should be 20. It is our belief that GM has faulty bulk oil they’re putting in new vehicles.

I experienced rod bearing failure in my L87 6.2L engine at 27k miles. Luckily it didn't seize up while driving, but they did fail as I was driving home. Decided to report this after reading that it is becoming a common problem, but not a recall issue yet. GM is going to replace the engine, but there is no time frame whatsoever. I've seen people complaining about not having their repairs done for months at a time. I'm currently on week number two & counting.

The tailgate opens while I am driving. I saw this is an issue with other Models but it has happened numerous times on my model as well. The computer system also malfunctions sporadically and the car doesn’t turn off.

The crankshaft bearings failed causing engine to knock very loudly. I didn't get an engine light. Dealership did replace one bearing and said lifters we fault and replaced. This happened with just over 33000 miles on truck. I didn't receive any extended warranty from manufacturers for any problems that may occur in future from pieces of metal or other contamination to inside of engine.

During operation of the vehicle at approximately 45mph and sudden stopping/ breaking is required, truck fails to do so. It is a partial loss of brake pressure and a loud "whale cry" type sound that appears to be coming from under the hood. I have had it happen twice just recently; I have taken to dealer, and they cannot replicate the issue. I have caught the sound the second time on video. To summarize truck loses partial breaking power, pedal does not bottom out, but it feels like there is not as much pressure being applied to the breaks when needed. Once the sound stops all braking returns to normal.
