Hard shifting, shutter, jerk, hesitation feels like the motor is going to fall out. Haven't had the manufacturer look at it, but it's very annoying and embarrassing.

The transmission on my truck failed. My truck now requires a new transmission. A repair costing over $7000. The transmission gave out while pulling into a street with my wife and child in the car. The truck would struggle to go into gear and lurch violently. The dealer was able to replicate these problems.

The rear door sensors do not function, doors are always indicated as being closed, even if they are open. The car gives no warning if door open and vehicle put into drive. Also with walk away lock the vehicle can lock while rear door is in the open state resulting in accidentally locking a occupant in the vehicle. The walk away locked engaged while I was at the rear of the vehicle unloading my dog from the back seats. The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made an abnormal knocking sound. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the dealer had previously replaced the fan and performed an oil change a week before the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact related to the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE25001 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Engine died when I was traveling at highway speed. Not warning lights no check engine lights. Was able to stear to the shoulder but vehicle woulnd't start or go into nuetral. Thankfully on a rural road so was able to get out of danger. Had this happened in a busy environment may not have been so forturnate. Dealer determined that 2 of the connecting rods bent and caused catostrophic engine damage. Since this happened I have read about 100's of other 6.2L gasoline engines having similar issues. This isn't a random occurance and Chevrolet has writted technical memos explaining the issue for thier dealers.

Transmission failed at approximately 120,000 miles. All maintenance had been done and 90% of miles on vehicle were highway miles. Appears as though there's a thermostat mounted on the exterior of the transmission that is prone to failing around the 100,000 mile area, and when this part fails, there is no transmission fluid circulating to be cooled, so the transmission gets so hot it fails. There are tons of youtube videos from many GM owners that have had to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to replace the entire transmission, when General Motors knows of the faulty part.

On [XXX], at or around midnight, I was traveling [XXX] at approximately 60 mph. The traffic was very light, with few vehicles on the road. It was raining, and I was in the number 1 lane. Two additional lanes were to my left, reserved for toll road traffic. I did not see any other vehicles on [XXX], nor did I see any vehicles to my left in the toll lanes. There was a physical separation between [XXX] and the toll road, consisting of 36-inch plastic candlestick dividers with approximately 10-foot separations. As I was traveling, I suddenly felt a lurch, and the right rear of my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado (Vin# [XXX] ) dropped. My pickup truck immediately began to spin to my left, forcing me into the toll lanes and into the concrete center divider. When my vehicle came to rest, I was facing eastbound in the westbound lanes of the toll road. My lights were no longer except a single amber light flashing, which gave limited warning to approaching vehicles. The California Highway Patrol arrived (unknown why no traffic collision report was taken), my vehicle was removed from the roadway, the right rear wheel and tire had separated from the vehicle and rolled to the right shoulder of [XXX] 150 yards from where my pickup came to rest. The vehicle was towed to the tow yard, where a vehicle inspection was conducted on March 19, 2025. The right rear wheel and tire for some reason were not recovered from the collision scene. The inspection revealed the cause of the collision was a broken/severed axle, not related to driver error. Photographs of the broken axle were taken and are available for review. The axle clearly had a manufacturing defect, poor casting or forging. The defect appeared to be an ongoing problem and separated from the vehicle at the time of the collision for no apparent reason. Depending on the time of day, traffic conditions, and the number of passengers, the collision had the potential to be much worse. 2016 Silverado with 5.3L and 8L90 transmission. Experienced a P0711-Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit code and a P0700-Transmission Control System Malfunction. The P0711 code has periodically come up multiple times in the past, but would clear itself before could make to a dealership to troubleshoot. The temp reading on the instrument cluster has always been erroneous though with inaccurate readings (e.g. transmission temp reads 20 deg on an 80 deg day) or wild swings in temperature reading. There is a GM special coverage notice for this issue due to the amount of owners this has affected (N192291660), but this only applies to 6.2L owners even though multiple 5.3L owners that have the exact same 8L90 transmission are experiencing this same issue.

Trailer brake control module in vehicle will have intermittent loss of trailer brakes. Dealership stated they will not fix the issue if they are unable to replicate it. Even with video or picture evidence. Dealership has been uncooperative during the process.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact attempted to depress the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed to engage as needed. The contact stated that the more consistently the brake pedal was depressed, the more the brakes failed to function as needed. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
