Front main bearing failure. I have 97,000 miles on my truck. I have the 6.2 engine in it. I see online that GM is having a lot of issues with this engine. My dealer is trying to help me deal with GM, but GM does not want to replace my engine. They want me to pay for it. This issue could have been bad if I was driving at highway speeds with my 2 young daughters in my vehicle with me. Definitely a safety issue.

I stopped at street light, Automatic Fuel Management system shut off engine. As engine restarted I experienced several dash lights came on. The engine light continued to blink and E light stayed on. Immediately went to dealer, 1 mile away. Computer said cylinder 5 was misfiring. Upon repair the lifter was bent and the cam shaft was damaged. Repairs were over $7,000.00. Truck had oil changes on time, all performed by the dealer. Truck had 67,000.00 miles. Repairs have been completed.

My trailer brake controller routinely does not allow me to adjust the brake gain. Multiple times (and on recorded video), I’ve had instances where I could not increase gain while hauling heavy loads in the trailer and this has caused me to lose my ability to stop the vehicle effectively. This has nearly cause accidents a few times while hauling on the interstate, and down my mountain road. The driver must be able to adjust trailer gain at any point while operating the vehicle. This issue has happened with multiple trailers. I’ve taken the vehicle in multiple times and had the brake controller components replaced but this issue still exists and the dealerships are unable to resolve. I was informed I have trailer issues even though this only occurs in this vehicle while towing and not other vehicles pulling the trailers. This is a major safety issue and will cause an accident if it isn’t resolved. My only option at this point is to purchase an aftermarket brake controller as my factory brake controller is unsafe. I have multiple videos of this issue and nearly had the trailer push me over my mountain from the issue. This issue has happened since I purchased the vehicle and continues to happen. There are multiple service records which show I requested the brake controller to be fixed. This isn’t a one time date or speed. I’m unable to upload videos I’ve taken on my phone but I can send them in. Reach out to [XXX] for videos. The manufacturer and service centers aren’t helping resolve this. The transmission valves failed and torque converter clutch slipped causing the truck to have harsh shifting issues, acceleration issues, and wheel-lock up. I've had to replace my full transmission and receive a new torque converter clutch, reprogrammed.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered upon depression of the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light being illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the torque converter was replaced. Recently, upon exiting a rest stop at 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several messages on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle off to the highway shoulder and the vehicle was towed to a local dealer. Once at the dealer, a diagnostic test was performed and the contact was informed that the lifters, the camshaft, and the pushrod were all defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was promised a call back, which was never received. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Intermittent lose of trailer brakes. Dealerships are unable to duplicate issue, will not replace under factory warranty. Chevy has not issued a recall for this specific vin. But other 2024 Chevy 2500 have had recalls for it. Would like a recall for my vin die to this being an issue if an accident occurs. Traveling with multiple 10K pound trailers and no brakes.

The transmission is the problem. The truck shudders. I took it to a mechanic, David Gessel's Auto Service 863-401-2860. The mechanic serviced the transmission and informed me that the transmission will need to be replaced eventually and that the torque converter is coming apart. It seems like the same issues 2019 transmissions in Chevys were having. My transmission is an automatic 8speed. The service performed fixed the problem of shuddering but now the truck is doing it again.

When it rains. Tailgate opens on it own. Either have to lock truck or quickly put into drive to prevent tailgate from opening on its own. Only in wet weather. Tailgate opened on its own in rainy weather when parked at hardware store. I began to drive away not knowing tailgate opened and lost tool box and material out the back while making a turn. Speaking with GM I was explained it’s a known issue on 2500 models but not for 1500 models.

In 2024, I had the transmission replaced due it leaking transmission fluid. The transmission is sealed and there is no way to add fluid. This created an internal problem for the transmission. In January 2025, the engine made a loud pop noise and began performing horribly. My wife and I were on the interstate in a major city and surrounded by traffic. I drove it to the side of the interstate, immediately, and turned it off. I had to call someone to tow me back home(2 hours away) and my wife missed a very important doctor's appointment. Upon inspection, I found failed valve lifters, camshaft, pushrod and valve lifter tray. I managed to get everything replaced and the truck ran fine. March 2025, as I was driving on the highway, the truck stopped running. A message came on the dash screen saying, "Shift to Neutral and restart". I did and nothing happened. I had it towed to a shop. They told me it was a fuse block that was blown and the starter blew so they replaced them. It had struggled to start a couple of times and since I knew it had a new battery, a starter and fuse block made sense. I picked the truck up and in less than 24 hours, it happened again. It stopped running as I was driving and would not restart. The shop has checked GM tech forums and found where someone said to check if the motor would turn over manually. They have tried and failed. They, then, took the oil filter off and found metal shavings in the oil. Their diagnosis is that the engine bearing has seized and is causing the problems. My main issue is safety. My wife and I could have been seriously injured or killed and could have injured or killed someone else when the incident happened on the interstate. The same could've happened with just me in the vehicle or with our children. There were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms whatsoever before January 2025 for the engine. The truck doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it and I have kept up all of the maintenance.
