  • Do not remove the USB drive during the update to the vehicle until instructed to. If removed prior to the success screen being displayed, the AV Control Unit may be damaged.
  • Do not insert the USB drive into a charging port. If used, the update software and/or USB drive may become damaged. Only insert the USB drive in a designated USB media port. Charging ports are marked in the vehicle with a 'lightning bolt' symbol.
  • If the status message "Update Failed!" is displayed, with the direction to "Insert update media" while a countdown from 60 is displayed, or if the AV Control Unit continuously reboots (restarts), insert the USB drive and then skip to step 47 on page 58 (for Install 1).
  • Do not remove the USB drive during the update process, especially when the screen displays "Do not remove the USB drive during this process."
• Post-Update Reboot: The system will not reboot until the USB drive is removed after a successful update.
• Reboot Procedure: Steps 55-62 (for Install 2) must be completed. If they are not completed, the update may become corrupted.
• Door Closure: Ensure that all doors remain closed during the 5-minute wait period required for some updates. If a door is opened during this period, the update may not complete, and the AV Control Unit may become inoperable.
• Bluetooth Pairing: If post-update Bluetooth re-pairing steps (step 98 for Install 5) are not completed, the phone may no longer connect with the vehicle while attempting to pair the phone to the vehicle.
• USB Removal from PC: Follow the steps to safely remove the USB drive from the CONSULT PC. If not followed, the USB drive may corrupt the infotainment update-software.

SW Check 1

This procedure applies to specific models and years, often those without navigation systems. It involves:

1. Turning the audio system OFF.
2. Accessing the "SERVICE MENU" by pushing and holding the APPS button, then turning the TUNE-SCROLL knob counterclockwise three or more clicks, then clockwise three or more clicks, repeating this pattern until the "SERVICE MENU" screen is displayed.

4. Confirming the current Software version. If it's not the latest version listed in the vehicle table, the technician proceeds to download the update software from ASIST.

SW Check 2

This procedure is used for systems where the "Info" icon is present and involves:

3. Inserting the USB drive into the vehicle's USB media port (not a charging port).
4. Waiting 10-30 seconds for the "There is a new software update available" screen to appear, then selecting OK.
5. If a "New USB music device detected. Create/Replace USB voice recognition data?" screen appears, selecting No.
6. Reviewing software update requirements (e.g., "To perform a software update, the vehicle must be stopped with the parking brake ON and the engine running.") and selecting "Accept" to start reprogramming.
7. When "The software update is completed. Please restart the system..." is displayed, removing the USB drive.

Install 3

This procedure is for systems requiring two update files (LD001 first, then a second file) and includes a factory initialization:

Install 5

This procedure is for systems with an IT Commander and also includes a factory initialization:

1. Setting the parking brake.
2. Starting the engine and waiting 60 seconds (engine idle required).
3. Inserting the USB drive into the USB media port.
4. Waiting for the update to complete (20-30 minutes), following on-screen instructions (e.g., "Update in progress. Please do not switch off the engine. Note: Parking assistances aren't available during update.").
5. Once "Software is successfully updated. Note: parking assistance is not available during update." is displayed, removing the USB drive. The system will reboot.
6. Reinitializing the AV Control Unit: Press and hold the MENU button on the IT Commander and turn the AV Control Unit volume knob left-right-left at the same time.
7. Selecting "Confirmation/Adjustment."
8. Selecting "Initialize Settings."
9. Selecting "User Data Initialization."
10. Selecting "Yes" for "Do you want to delete all data and settings saved in the system?" and "Yes" for "Restore to factory settings. Are you sure?"
11. Instructing the customer to delete/erase the car from their phone's Bluetooth menu and re-pair the phone.
