3. USB Preparation: A USB flash drive, 32GB or larger, must be formatted to FAT32. This step is critical, as the update will not proceed if the USB drive is formatted to any other file system. Formatting the drive will erase all existing data on it.
4. File Extraction to USB: Using a file compression utility like 7-Zip, the downloaded navigation files are extracted directly onto the root directory of the formatted USB drive. The files must not be placed within any subfolder on the USB drive. 5. Vehicle Software Update:
   • After the files are on the USB, the drive is safely ejected from the PC.
   • In the ODIS diagnostic system, the technician navigates to 005F Information Electronics >> Basic settings >> Formatting partitions of internal memory.
   • Under Parameters, Navigation data bank is selected, and the basic setting is run.
   • The USB drive is then inserted into the vehicle.
   • The technician accesses the MMI settings section: MMI settings >> system maintenance >> software update.
   • At this point, the software update should be available for installation if all prior steps were performed correctly.
