• A desire for reliable information regarding the current status of their vehicle's high-voltage battery, for example, when considering selling the vehicle.

Diagnosis and Trigger Conditions

When these symptoms are reported, workshops typically find that the customer's observations can be reproduced. Notably, there are often no active or static fault codes logged in the control unit for hybrid battery management (diagnostic address 008C) that would indicate a problem with the high-voltage battery. This is because a reduction in the energy content of high-voltage batteries is a normal effect of aging, which is not necessarily a fault.

Repair Procedure Summary

To determine the Audi e-tron battery energy content, technicians utilize the 'Guided Fault Finding' system. This system offers various test plans to assess the battery's health:

1. Battery Health Status (BHS): This test provides a general indication of battery health and takes approximately 25 to 50 time units (TU). It does not provide a numerical value in percentage.
2. Battery Health Certificate (BHC): This is a more comprehensive test, providing a numerical percentage value for battery capacity. It requires about 50 TU of productive tester time, with a total duration of up to 750 TU.

Warranty and Billing Information
