I have 20,000 on my 2023 Jetta and have had to have the breaks and rotors replaced twice (at both by 10K and 20K service) at the last service the service technician stated that they are seeing this on both the 2023 Jetta and Taos and they have not figured out why they are going through the breaks and rotors like this. While I am still under warrantee this is not a problem cost wise, but how do I know that my breaks are going to function properly when I need them if rotors and pads are having to be replaced so often, should they be checked every 5K miles. This is a major safety issue that needs to be corrected.

UNKNOWN. I was driving from Alabama to Atlanta [XXX]. Pouring rain but no hail, no thunder nor lighting. I was not around nor under an overpass and my sunroof spontaneously shatters. I just bought this vehicle 2 weeks ago at Carmax. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11569918February 5, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Car has multiple electrical issues that can affect the safety of driving. OCU Module is the main one which allows for 911 services to be called in case of an accident. This module failed in September and now it failed again in January. The cruise control also sometimes doesn't work and the front assistance sensor doesn't seem to always work as indicated in the screenshots.

I purchased my vehicle brand new from VW. My vehicle only has just over 33,000 miles on it. After hearing a grinding noise in the rear brakes I took it to Les Shwab to have the brakes inspected along with a tire rotation. After a short time waiting they told me that the rear brakes were metal on metal and the front were just fine. I asked how the rear brakes could go out so soon when the front brakes are the ones that normally wear out so quickly. They had planned to replace the pads and rotors on the rear of the vehicle. When they tried to remove the calipers the piston would not release and I had to pay foe new calipers as well. A couple hour brake inspection turned into three days without my vehicle waiting for parts and a $1,314.49 bill. I went online looking for recalls and there weren't any. I did however find that this is a common issue for the 2021 Jetta, and it is presumed that the roll back brake assist is faulty causing the calipers to not release thus causing excessive wear to the rear brakes. Had my rear brakes gone out completely before I had them inspected this could have been very bad causing myself or others serious injury or even death. I am seeking for NHTSA to investigate this further and force VW to issue a recall. I am also seeking full reimbursement for my bill from VW. Thank you.

- #11566906January 22, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
This vehicle has a "digital cockpit" without traditional analog gauges. It completely shut down on me while driving on the freeway, leaving me without a speedometer, and a red caution "do not drive" warning indicator. I have a video of this incident captured by my partner that I can share, as well as a static image, which I attach therein. Prior to this incident, it repeatedly shut down while driving, but in those cases would come back up in 5 to 10 seconds. This may have been a computer "crash" as it came back up with 0 on the trip odometers. The dealer seemingly fixed this problem with a reset process described in a TSB. In the most recent incident, the display never came back online, and I was unable to safely continue driving. There are also random issues with this display locking into "night" mode during the day, usually after backing out of a dark garage or going through a tunnel, which leaves the display impossible to read in bright sun. The only fix when this happens is to pull over, turn the car off, wait 5 minutes, and resume driving.

bought this car brand new and after couple of days when I get on highway and trying to give gas the car started shaking vigorously and lost engine power. check engine light came on. pulled over to the shoulder and turned off the car. after a minute started the car and it's working fine. took it to dealer next day and they said there was codes for cylinders 1 & 3 misfire, but they can't reproduce the problem when they drove it. so, can't do anything. after a year (car is only used for local driving) while I was driving on highway from a game when I am giving gas to pass vehicles, I could feel shaking from engine like its misfiring and check engine started flashing. but when I took leg off the pedal and give gas slowly its working fine and engine light went off. only 7k miles on the car and engine has misfiring issue creating loss of power which is a safety concern on highways. other owners report similar issues.

- #11562293December 28, 2023LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
The contact owns a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the contact observed that the blind spot monitor and the Lane Keep Assist warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was a second failure to the system. The contact had previously taken the vehicle to a dealer and the sensor for the blind spot monitor and the Lane Keep Assist warning had been replaced once before. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the blind spot and Lane Keep Assist sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The head gasket is leaking coolant from between the block and the head. This can cause overheating of the vehicle or fires. Can also affect the motor. This problem was identified by a dealer and was originally noticed due to low coolant warning when driving the car. Vehicle is available for inspection if needed

On 01/12/2023 at approximately 4:20 PM, I paid the cost to replace the rear brakes on my 2021 VW Jetta SEL. This included parts and labor. I found this very odd due to the vehicle being less than 2 years old. About 1 week after this, I received via USPS mail, a letter from VW of America stating that an extended warranty of the rear brakes applies to my vehicle (see attached). I filled out the required information and submitted the included form as instructed. On 04/08/2023 I received an email from VW Customer Care stating they will not reimburse me for the price of the brakes I had to replace. The only reason I had to replace the said brakes is due to Volkswagen's faulty parts and I fear this is happening to many consumers as well. After a bit of "back and forth" with VWoA, I contacted NYS AG's office and with their help, VWoA finally paid me for the replacement of the stated brakes. Seeing that many others on your site have had this same issue, I think a recall should be enacted by you. This should not be an expense that VWoA's customers should have to bear.

I do not feel safe with my Vehicle. I purchased new and at 16,550 Miles it needed new rear rotors and pads. Again at 38417 it needed new rotors and pads. I drive the car softly and am not heavy on the brakes. This seems to be a known issue and the dealership says I should be prepared to replace rotors and pads this frequently. It was only 1.5 years until the 2nd pad/rotor change. Not only do I not feel safe, that is a financial hardship.

Engine misfire on all cylinders. Engine start/stop failure, check engine light illuminates. Vehicle hesitates and looses power when accelerating. Vehicle then stalls while operating. Happens while in traffic or trying to pull out from intersection causing vehicle to stop in roadway. Almost causes crashes from rear due to sudden stop and sides due to not clearing the intersection. Dealer confirmed the issue but states there is no repair or known fix. Dealer said to use premium fuel which is not required by manufacturer. Problem still occurred with premium fuel. Several trips to two separate dealers and both state there is no fix for the dangerous issue just to keep driving it. The vehicle is available for inspection. This issues is occurring in other 2022 jettas and Taos models. Dealer stated they were aware of the issue but vw does not have a fix. Has occurred multiple times with my vehicle.

After parking the car one day the remote app functions stopped working. The next morning, a scary warning came on the dash stating: SOS Error: Emergency Call Function! Service Vehicle! It also blocks off many functional areas of other dash display and the error will not go away. The bluetooth in the car no longer works and the post-crash and SOS emergency calling are disabled.

Without warning, the rear brakes started making unusual scraping sound with slight loss of braking power. Within a week of the issue took car to dealer who informed me that rear brake pads were completely worn out with calipers scraping and damaging the rotors. VW refused to fix the issue via warranty. By the end of the week, the scraping escalated and significant loss of braking power occurred. The premature failure or the braking pads and subsequent rotor damage seems to be a pervasive problem and well documented problem at VW. Their approach to safety and resolution however very troubling. The car was purchased new from the dealer 30 months ago and has 15,300 miles at the time of the incident.
