SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The Hydraulic control unit has failed. It has been taken to a mechanic and diagnosed. The electronic part has been replaced per my warranty info and mechanic recommendation and it is still failed, meaning the main HCU is the issue. The cruise control will shut off automatically and the ABS and traction control do not work while in fault. While towing a trailer up an on ramp, the HCU went into fault causing the traction control to fail and the pick up lost traction and started sliding sideways...Luckily I was able to get it under control without crashing. This was all due to the HCU intermittent failure, causing the traction control to stop working. While this is faulted, the ABS also does not work.

STEERING, SUSPENSION
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A RECALL ISSUED BY NHTSA. THE RECALL WAS V06 DRAG LINK. WHEN THE RECALL WA PREFORMED, THE ALIGNMENT NUTS ON THE DRAG LINK WERE WELDED SO THE COULDN'T COME LOOSE. I'VE HAD TO HAVE MY TRUCK REALIGNED 2 TIMES SINCE THE DRAG LINK NUTS WERE WELDED. AS OF RIGHT NOW THE NUTS ARE NOT WELDED AND THE INTEGRITY OF THE DRAG LINK IS COMPROMISED. I'VE HAD IT INTO 3 DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS AND EACH SAY THAT WELDING THE NUTS SHOULD ONLY BE A TEMPORARY FIX NOT A PERMANENT FIX. SINCE THE WELDING, I'VE HAD STEERING ISSUES WITH MY TRUCK WHICH IS WHY I'VE HAD IT IN THE REAPIR SHOPS. I FEEL THAT THE DRAG LINK NEEDS A TOTAL REPLACEMENT AND NOT A BANDAID FIX. I'VE CONTACTED FCA 2 TIMES AND HAVE A CASE NUMBER, #[XXX]. THE CALLS MADE WERE ON OCT. 10 & OCT 24. I'VE ALSO CONTACTED THE THE RAM DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA WHERE I GET SERVICE DONE AND HAVE "0" RESPONSE FROM THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. THE WELDING OF A STEERING COMPONENT (DRAG LINK) IS NOT A FIX. I HAVE HAD STEERING ISSUES AND DEATH WOBBLE OCCUR SINCE THIS RECALL WAS COMPLETED. I'VE HAD IT IN FOR 2 ALIGNMENTS. I'M WORRIED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY NOT HAVING THIS ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF. PLEASE ADVISE ON MY NEXT STEPS THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION. My ABS and Traction Control components in my 2018 1-ton Ram are intermittently setting codes with the ECU, leading to loss of ABS, Traction Control, and inability to use my cruise control. I am concerned that I have a loss in braking performance without those components operating as designed. I have brought my truck to the local Ram dealer only to be told that the module will not be available for install until Feb of 2024 after an upgraded unit is made available to the dealers. I feel that this should be a recall, as a quick internet search shows multiple owners of the same vehicle are also affected. Purchased this truck specifically to tow 14000 lb fifth wheel camper. Two months ago warning chime and “service electronic brake system, Service antilock brakes and Traction Control” caution lights repeatedly activate. I am concerned about towing in this condition if operating on rain slick roads and winter weather. Also the constant chime is a serious distraction. Truck is currently at the dealership for repair. 25000 on the odometer. Truck is out of warranty. These failed safety systems endanger mine and my family’s lives, as well as other motorist and the public.

POWER TRAIN
I was traveling in my new 3 month old 3500 Ram with, at the time of failure, 3000 miles on the odometer. Starting from a standstill on level ground. I lost all forward momentum. I lost forward gears 1-4 due to what is now known as the K1 clutch snap ring failure. I was traveling cross country and had to leave my truck at a dealership over 1000 miles from home. ruined vacation and had to catch a flight back home . It took 6 months to get my truck back.

SERVICE BRAKES
When having to brake hard, the lining of the pressure line from the pump to the hydro booster comes apart and causes the brakes to not work and the power steering to act up. The plastic lining shoots into the booster causing it to fail. They don’t make a replacement line so I was forced to fabricate one. Very expensive fix.

ENGINE
Turbocharger actuator failure. Recognized as known issue for vehicles manufactured one year later (2015). All replacement cost covered by manufacturer and warranty extended. The replacement part for the 2014 RAM 3500 turbocharger actuator is MOPAR part 68481772AA and the replacement part for the 2015 RAM 3500 turbocharger actuator is MOPAR part 68481772AA (identical part numbers). Similarly, the turbocharger installation kits for both model years are identical. Multiple online complaints noted about failures in 2014 model years. I incurred $3000 expense to replace. Two detailed letters sent to manufacturer with no response or acknowledgement of receipt.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Service Electronic Braking System and Service Anit-Lock Braking System alarm lights. Code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control- General Electric Failure. This issue is related to Anti-Lock braking that can cause injury to my safety and family safety. Problem is very well know and fully reproducible at dealers. Vehicle has been at dealer for long term waiting for dealer to find/repair issue .Dealer is at loss for repair. Dealer repair for this was change HCU and ABS Module. This repair has shown to not work in many scenarios and multiple repair and replace of the same units are not fixing the issues.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving the vehicles message display center says "service emergency braking system", the traction control indication light turns on and off, the abs indicator light turns on and off, the park sense indicators turn on and off, and if cruise control is on it is deactivated and turns on and off. An audible chime indication is also sounded when the message center displays a message. With the traction control and abs turning on and off creates an extreme safety problem especially with the winter months ahead. The vehicle has not yet been looked at by a anyone but an appointment has been made with the local dealership. This first started while driving on 11/11/2023. However, the indicator lights and chime still occur while the vehicle is in park and motor running.

STEERING
There was the V06 Drag Link recall which was to weld the drag link solid with no adjustment. I had it inspected on 3 May 19 where they found the nuts not properly torqued. I told them not to weld on the truck as this would cause extra expense to me when having any future work done on the truck. Had contacted Ram Cares to get a replacement drag link installed now that a replacement part is available. That didn't happen as the appointment that I had through Ram Cares couldn't happen without DM notes. There is clucking in the steering again like before and I'm sure it has loosened up again. I confirmed with independent repair shops that they would either not touch it do to welding or charge me additional cost to remove the weld and wouldn't re-weld do to liability. If Ram was willing to supply lifetime alignments for the truck, then no problem. The welding goes against how it's supposed to be fixed. I could be subject to a DOT inspection and truck impounded if there is welding on steering components. I know it's a discretionary rule, But could cost me time, money and other expenses for something that there is the correct replacement part available to fix the manufacture error. Anti-Lock Braking system and Electronic Braking system, service system warning come on and off randomly all the time. When this happens, cruise control does not work. Had it replaced at the dealership once and It started doing the same thing. Took it back and they said they didn’t know what was wrong with it And that they didn’t want me thinking they didn’t want to do warranty work. The warnings were coming on and off more frequent. Don’t know what to do. Do you have any suggestions? This is a safety concern for me.
