Go to start the truck and the tailgate comes down and clicking in the harness underneath the dash. This could happen going down the road. Not able to see camera when backing up because tailgate automatically goes down. This drains the battery when the truck is completely turned off. Dealer said corrosion and water got in the harness on a 3 year old truck. I'm left paying $1700 out of pocket on a three year old truck.

2025 Ram 4x4 had approx 2500 miles when the instrument panel went completely blank. Was driving so pulled over, turned off engine, then back on with no cure. Went to my destination, parked the truck for 4 hrs and when returned problem was gone. Went to the dealer to report the issue and they said there wasn't a fix. Now I have received a safety recall on the truck 3 weeks later. I'll go back to the dealer to see what they can do???

The magnetic material on the tone wheel detached causing a crank position sensor error code (P0336) and subsequent misfire while accelerating into traffic. The software had been updated per recall W58 (NHSTA 20V-475). Vehicle could be restarted but lacked full power. The vehicle is out of warranty, however, Stellantis directed that a dealer make repairs, customer pays out of pocket ($3200), and claim be submitted for reimbursement. Stellantis promptly denied the claim, despite correspondence in writing and recorded customer service phone call. A BBB complaint has been filed against Stellantis.

In early October 2025, my 2021 RAM 1500 experienced a steering malfunction in which the vehicle attempted to steer on its own without driver input. This created a loss-of-control scenario and posed a serious safety risk to me and surrounding traffic. The vehicle was removed from service immediately and taken to an authorized RAM dealer. Stellantis Customer Care and Fleet Case Management have acknowledged the defect and identified a required replacement part; however, the part has been on national backorder since October 2025. As of December 31, 2025, the vehicle has been out of service for over three months. Stellantis has provided at least ten different estimated repair dates, all of which have passed without resolution. Despite the steering-related nature of the failure, Stellantis has stated there is no active safety recall. The vehicle remains unrepaired due to the unavailability of the required steering-related component. I am concerned that this defect may affect other vehicles and that the prolonged inability to repair a known steering failure presents an ongoing public safety risk. I am submitting this complaint to request formal review of this issue and to document the safety implications of this unresolved steering defect.

- #11707739December 30, 2025FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am reporting a critical safety failure involving my 2017 Ram 1500 with approximately 89,000 miles. The component that failed was the fuel‑tank support system, specifically the frame section that holds the fuel‑tank brackets and strap. The frame in that area had completely rusted through, causing the fuel tank to drop and hang dangerously close to the ground. The failed components are still on the vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. This failure created a severe safety hazard. A partially detached fuel tank poses an immediate risk of fuel leakage, fire, or complete separation of the tank while driving, endangering both myself and other motorists. The issue has been confirmed by an independent, certified mechanic. They advised that the corrosion was so extensive that the frame would need to be disassembled to attempt any repair, which they were unable to perform. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or any other official entity beyond the independent mechanic. There were no warning lamps, messages, unusual noises, or other symptoms prior to the failure. The problem became apparent only when I visually noticed the fuel tank hanging lower than normal. Given the seriousness of this defect and the potential for catastrophic failure, I am requesting immediate review and guidance on next steps.

To whom it may concern, I'm currently experiencing an intermittent flashing red steering column and exclamation point on my dash as well as the power steering disengaging, forcing me to manually wrestle with the steering wheel while trying to control the truck without crashing and potentially killing myself as well as others. I googled this issue and came across the instructions on how reset the EPS by resetting the system by turning the truck off, then back on and turning the steering wheel fully to the left and holding then to the right and holding. This was just a temporary fix until it happened again. Then I reached out to the dealership and they suggested that I reach out to Ram Customer Care. In the process I also found a FCA Equipment Safety Recall VB9/ NHTSA 19E-077 Electronic Power Steering Gear that covered my year and model truck. Ram Customer Care asked me for my VIN and the issue that I was experiencing but stated there were no recalls for my vehicle VIN. They also suggested that I reach out to NHTSA.GOV to file a complaint so that NHTSA can add my VIN to the above or any recall dealing with the EPS Rack & Pinion system so the dealership can fix this hazardous issue stated in any recall or lawsuit for the 2013-2019 Ram 1500 pickup trucks. I am requesting that my VIN be added to the above or any other recalls that are associated with safely operating my truck to protect myself and others while driving on our highways and byways.

I own a 2021 Ram 1500 (“Build to Serve” edition). The airbag/SRS warning light came on around January 2025. The message states that the airbag system needs service. This indicates that the airbags may not deploy properly in the event of a crash, putting my safety and the safety of my passengers at risk. I took the vehicle to the Ram dealership and they confirmed an airbag system failure. They stated the part needed for repair is unavailable and have repeatedly told me there is a parts shortage and a manage allocation part. This has gone on for approximately 1 years, and the problem has not been repaired. The airbag warning remains on continuously. This issue has been documented by the dealer, but the manufacturer has not provided a remedy or replacement part. I am being forced to drive a vehicle with a known airbag safety defect because Ram/Stellantis has failed to supply the necessary repair parts in a reasonable time. I am requesting NHTSA assistance because this is a major safety concern and the manufacturer has not resolved it despite repeated contacts. Vehicle and part are available for inspection if requested.

On [XXX] at approximately [XXX] on [XXX] south of Madras Oregon. We were on our way to Bend Oregon and just coming up to the scales, when I accelerated to pass a car in the passing lane, all my dash lights lit up and the engine stopped running. Being in heavy traffic this made a dangerous situation with vehicles all around me, while my vehicle was coming to a stop. I was able to pull to the right shoulder to safety. I have brought this issue up with the dealership on three different during service calls. Prior to [XXX] incident, the truck's computer system has never completely shut down all at once. I have told the service manager that I have had several issues on the electrical system, but was told there was nothing wrong. The lights that flashed on, the best I can remember were; Front Collision, Trailer Brakes, Checking Engine, plus others. I cannot remember all, due to maneuvering my vehicle to the right shoulder. Unfortunately, I have not have documentation on every occurrence of electrical/computer failure. I keep getting told that my computer system just needs an update. So the dealership must be somewhat aware that something is going on with my vehicle. The sad part is that I keep trying to resolve this issue with the Dealership, but they keep avoiding my phone calls or when I do go in person they tell me nothings wrong. Here is the name of the dealership I purchased the vehicle from with the extended warranty. "Lithia Dodge of Bend". The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle veered off the road. The contact stated that the passenger's and driver's side curtains airbags and the front driver's seat and front passenger's seat side airbags deployed. The contact stated that no collision had occurred during the incident. There was no injury sustained. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The neighbors assisted the driver in cutting the airbags that were obstructing the road visibility. The driver then drove to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the front driver's side and passenger's side seat belts were replaced because the seat's side air bags deployment had rendered the seat belts inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to refuel the vehicle, the fuel could not enter the vehicle and splashed out. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

While looking at preliminary evaluation reports, I noticed there is one for the same problem I've had a few times now. My engine stalled at low speed, put it self in park, applied the parking brake and the warning light for battery problems came on. I had to shut the truck down and restart it. This is at least the 3rd time it's happened. This is going to kill someone eventually. It's always happened to me after I came to a complete stop at a stop sign and am moving in to an intersection. I'm stuck there for a few seconds while cars are coming at me. Once they came very close to hitting me. The truck stayed in this mode until I got home and shut it off. I turned it back on the next day and it has been fine since. The photo I attached is of the low voltage notification the most recent time it occurred.
