STEERING
While attempting to park in a parking spot at Walmart, the truck just lost steering suddenly, as the steering warning light began to flashand would not budge. Luckily, we were not involved in an accident. This Ram 1500 has an electric power steering (EPS) rack failure, resulting in sudden, total steering loss. There is a steering warning indicator light that flashes while it is malfunctioning. This is a widespread common issues with these specific trucks that commonly cause the operator to lose steering control while driving.

July 2021 bought ram 1500 limited. $75k September 2021 3k miles took to dealer with REVERSE TRAILER STEERING UNAVAILABLE MESSAGES AND BACK UP CAMERA issues. Not fixed. Issues still happening. DEC 2021 ram 1500 recall y80 issued. RTSCM NEEDS updated. April 2022 dealer visit 11k miles recall y80 addressed and repaired. Issues continued. Several undocumented stop by dealer visits by request to look at while happening. Software updated each time. April 2023 purchasing dealer visit agin 26k miles. Up to this date vehicle was a lease. I bought the lease out with hopes to repair the issue. That dealer updated and also removed my dash to inspect the module. At this point as well 2 cases had been opened with ram themselves and I was wrote off as it will be fixed eventually. After that the issues never went away to this day but I was at a loss. A lemon law attorney told me that I didn’t have enough proof of the issue and i will share all my proof here with you guys. 2 month ago it froze the screen and accelerated on its own almost hitting a women and child pedestrian. I have had enough. I have worked hard for that money spent in the truck and cannot get the safety recall resolved. Now that the dash has been removed there are lights that shine in my eyes at night through the crease in the dash. All evidence cannot attach to this form because they are videos but I have over 65 showing proof and repair attempts

Turning left from a stop sign, engine turned off in the middle of the intersection and parking brake was automatically applied. max speed achieved approximately 5mph. Red Battery dash light was illuminated. Dash instructions were to press brake pedal and push park brake release button. after completing I was able to shift to park and restart the vehicle. Red battery dash light remained. After moving vehicle to a safe location I turning off the vehicle, waited ~20 seconds, and restarted it. battery light was good and digital voltage gauge showing 13.9V. no further issues on the commute to work.

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the steering wheel became stiff, and the vehicle failed to turn as intended. The contact stated that the message "Service Power Steering System" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the residence. An independent mechanic arrived at the residence and diagnosed the vehicle with steering rack failure. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts being on back order. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 201,110.

STEERING
The electric power steering system has now completely failed and the steering is fully locked/stiff at all times. The vehicle cannot be safely driven or operated. The issue began as intermittent loss of power steering assist and progressed to total failure without warning. Steering now requires extreme force and is effectively unusable. This creates a serious safety hazard, especially if it occurs while driving or turning. The vehicle is currently undrivable and unsafe. The vehicle has not yet been inspected but is available for inspection upon request.

While driving, a deer entered the roadway. I applied the brakes to avoid hitting the deer and lost traction due to icy road conditions. The vehicle spun out and struck a utility pole. I later became aware of an open recall involving the ABS and/or electronic stability control (ESC) system for this vehicle. There were no warning lights, messages, or alerts before or after the incident. The vehicle did not maintain stability as expected during braking on ice. I am unsure whether the ABS/ESC system functioned properly at the time of the incident. The crash resulted in vehicle damage and property damage. To my knowledge, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. After crash, airbags did not deploy no fluids leaked no warning lights ever came on dash before or after crash

The vehicle is a 2025 Ram 1500 with an active safety recall related to the trailer light connection/wiring system. The issue causes warnings indicating trailer light malfunction and affects proper trailer light operation. This is a significant safety concern because I regularly tow trailers, and improper trailer lighting creates a risk for accidents, especially at night or during braking and signaling. The recall has been confirmed by the dealer, however, the dealer has stated that parts are not available and cannot provide a timeline for repair. It has been over a month with no resolution. No repair has been performed, and the issue remains unresolved. Warning messages related to trailer connection and lighting have appeared. This directly impacts the safe operation of the vehicle and my ability to tow for work purposes. The manufacturer has not provided a timely remedy for this safety recall.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
I almost pulled out in front of oncoming traffic because I did not see the traffic, it was in a blind spot. The exterior left and right rear view mirrors are so large they block visibility from the left and right oncoming traffic at an intersection. They create blind spots for oncoming traffic putting our safety at risk by not seeing the oncoming traffic. Dealer not responsive to documenting this safety hazard. No warning lights for the left and right oncoming traffic at an intersection.

There was a recall for the cluster pack on the screen that shows my speedometer and safety features such a lane departure, turn signals, etc. I had the recall completed and my screen still blacks out randomly. It has been in the shop 3 times to fix the screen, but Ram cannot get it fixed. I have multiple pictures and videos of the screen blacking out if anyone is interested I can email them.

Defect Description for NHTSA Complaint Intermittent but recurring failure of the Uconnect infotainment system and rearview backup camera on a 2025 Ram 1500. The defect occurs at vehicle startup and when shifting the transmission into reverse. Symptoms include: (1) the center console display freezes and becomes unresponsive; (2) the rearview backup camera fails to display an image when reverse is selected, eliminating rear visibility required under FMVSS 111; (3) audio output cuts out completely; and (4) a loud electronic buzzing noise is frequently emitted from the dash or speakers during the failure. This is a safety-related defect because the rearview camera is inoperative at the exact moment it is federally required to function — when the driver shifts into reverse — creating a rear visibility hazard and increasing the risk of a backover incident involving pedestrians, children, or obstacles. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Ram dealer multiple times for this issue. The dealer previously replaced the center console display/head unit under warranty, but the defect has returned and continues to occur, indicating the root cause was not the display itself. The persistence of the failure after a hardware replacement suggests a systemic issue — likely related to Uconnect software, the CAN bus communication network, a wiring harness or ground fault, or another vehicle module — rather than an isolated component failure. No crash, injury, or fire has resulted, but the loss of the backup camera at the moment of reverse engagement presents an ongoing safety risk during every use of the vehicle.

[XXX] I was local driving and my Ram truck got silent and engine died. I still had power steering. When I rolled to a stop the message said "press brake and put in park". The truck put itself in park before I pressed the brake pedal. It took 3 attempts to get my truck started. I drove to Walker dealer in Alexandria, La., and reported problem. Service advisor put a computer on the truck and it had a code. We made an appointment for 4-7-26 to get it resolved. I left my truck at the dealership at 8:30am and picked it up at 5pm. Advisor said they fixed a code and everything else checked out in OK status. That part was under warranty so no charge. The same thing happened last summer but I did not report it as I was able to start the truck and thought I had done something wrong. I am scared to make a trip anywhere and leave me stranded. I now make sure I have towing coverage. Because it is something that has to do with computers, I have to stay close to a dealership because their computer tools are proprietary. The truck gave no warning or indication of any kind. It just died. I keep all my paperwork from the dealership. I bought the truck with 2000 miles on it. The back up camera display intermittently shows a blank blue display instead of the camera image while the vehicle is in reverse. This has occurred 4 times over 5 months of ownership of this brand new vehicle. The issue is usually resolved after a complete power cycle of the vehicle. The rear visibility of the vehicle is poor without the added benefit of the back up camera. The problem has not yet been brought to the attention of the dealership as it is very intermittent and has not been inspected by anyone but myself. There are no warning indicators.
