On [XXX], shortly after [XXX], I was driving between 25–30 mph on a public road in California, my 2022 RAM 1500 with a 5.7L HEMI eTorque engine, stalled without warning. The vehicle automatically engaged the parking brake and shifted to park, causing an abrupt stop. A dashboard message appeared making me aware of the parking brake engagement. Another vehicle was closely following, creating a high risk of a rear-end collision. I have been driving as a Stuntwoman in films and television shows for over a decade and this genuinely scared me. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. The vehicle hesitated before restarting, and the check engine light (MIL) illuminated immediately. The battery light came on intermittently while driving home. The check engine light remains on as of May 11, 2025. Diagnostic codes read on May 11, 2025, show P1C64 (Stored, Pending, Permanent). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, however, I will be bringing my truck back to the dealership that I purchased it from for repair. The sudden stalling and braking in traffic posed a significant safety risk, nearly resulting in a collision due to the inability to control the vehicle or warn other drivers. The problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, as no repair attempts have been made and the car has not moved from my driveway. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms; the stalling occurred suddenly. The P1C64 code, confirmed after the incident, aligns with NHTSA complaints and investigation PE24018 (July 19, 2024) into stalling and low voltage issues in 2022 RAM 1500 eTorque vehicles. At 45mph the engine cut off. I had to coast to a stop on the side of the road and place the truck into park and then restart the engine. I have already taken the vehicle into the dealership to have recall 37A remediation performed last year.

While undergoing an annual vehicle inspection it was detected that ball joints have failed and are in need of replacement. This is a 2021 Ram 1500 with 77,500 miles. This seems to be a pre-mature failure of a critical component.

I am filing a formal complaint regarding a critical safety defect in my 2019 Ram eTorque, which posed a severe risk to my pregnant wife while she was driving. The vehicle’s battery unexpectedly failed, resulting in a complete loss of power steering and all safety functions, creating a hazardous situation in the middle of the roadway that could have led to a serious accident. This defect is not isolated. My truck has been at the repair shop for over two months, as the necessary replacement part is on backorder due to over 3,000 reported vehicles affected by the same issue. The widespread nature of this defect and the unavailability of parts amplify the risk of injury or fatality to drivers and passengers. I urge the Safety Advisory Board to investigate this defect urgently, focusing on the significant safety implications and the high number of affected vehicles. Immediate action is needed to prevent potential harm.

The ABS system on the truck goes out which causes the truck to have no breaks. ABS module is faulty, your wheels may start locking, leading to a loss of traction. This could be especially dangerous in wet conditions, as it increases the risk of skidding. Another issue is there is no replacement parts avaible to fix this issue, truck owns now have vehicles that now is a ticking time bomb. Ram needs to fix this issue ASAP!! Dealership are saying they have no idea of when replacement parts will be available.

Saturday [XXX], around noon, I was driving my family and my electronic power steering went out. The steering wheel became to stiff during a turn into a voting station, and I almost ran over a curb hitting pedestrians. I turned off the vehicle and restarted it and a red power steering indicated lamp lit on the dashboard, and the vehicle was difficult to steer. The mechanic I called recommended I check NHTSA Saftey Recalls, and found this for 2016 Ram Trucks: ":16V-167 / S19 Recall Summary The power steering system may stop functioning because of a short circuit in the electric power steering (EPS) control circuit board. This would increase risk of a crash." However, me VIN is not covered in the recall. I called RAM to let them know and opened a case, and they recommended I report this to NHTSA . I was not able to get the truck to a RAM dealer, but the mechanic I took it to said that the electronics have failed and the entire steering assembly needs to be replaced...
