The ABS module has failed. This ABS module failure is producing the following codes: The failure code in the ABS module is C2200–49 indicating a internal module failure when the ABS module goes off-line it sets communication codes in other modules, causing the transmission module to go into limp mode. This has been confirmed by an independent service center. There are multiple warning lights on the dashboard including the ABS light, the traction light, and the brake light. This failure is causing multiple failure codes and no communication within the engine. Please see attached pictures and documentation from garage.

The vehicle loses power unexpectedly without triggering a MIF indicator or logging a OBDII diagnostic code. The problem is the crankshaft position sensor temporarily fails causing the vehicle to stall, in my case, in stop and go traffic, which caused an accident. Once the 'Heat Soak' effect passes, the vehicle start and drives normally again. The fix, to preventing it from happening again and solving the heat soak problem, is to replace the crankshaft position sensor with an OEM part which is less susceptible to the ambient heat (heat soak) due the proximity to the exhaust manifold. And, to have the software in the PCM 'Flashed' or upgraded to allow for a greater signal tolerance from the crankshaft position sensor. The problem and fix where confirmed by Auto-Nation Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, [XXX], where I purchased the OEM part and had their service department 'Flash' the PCM for the software upgrade. The service department and the parts clerk agreed that TSB 18-020-26 applied, dated XXX. Upon further research I discovered a recall report: 18v-049 Part 573 Safety recall report. It is proof FCA US LLC (Manufacturer of my 2019 Dodge RAM 1500 Classic) knew about the problem with the Pentastar 3.6L engine. The same 3.6L engine in the recall. Or, they should have know about the potential problem. Although my vehicle was not part of the 18v-049 recall, it has the same 3.6L engine and exhibited the same engineering shortcomings as the recalled engine? As a concerned citizen I felt compelled to bring the public safety problem to your attention, even though I feel I am not the only one who has complained about the problem. And, because I feel strongly about this, I am planning to file suite in small claim court against the manufacture: FCA US LLC. I would like to update your office with a copy of the filing as soon as I am issued a court date. Thank you for your time and consideration. Subject: Safety Defect – 2015 Ram 1500 – ABS Module Failure, Part Discontinued, No Recall Vehicle: 2015 Ram 1500, 5.7L VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 65000 Date of failure: May 2022 I am writing to report a safety-related defect on my 2015 Ram 1500 and to formally request corrective action. Description of the problem: The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module (Mopar part number 68228991AD) on my vehicle has failed. As a result, the ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) systems are completely inoperative, as indicated by persistent warning lights on the instrument cluster. This significantly compromises the vehicle's braking and stability performance, particularly in wet or emergency conditions, and renders the vehicle non-compliant with federal safety standards (FMVSS 135 – Anti-lock Braking Systems). Part unavailability: The required replacement module (68228991AD) or 68228991AE , is discontinued or in backorder for years and is currently in an "engineering hold" status at the factory. Dealerships are unable to order or procure the part. There is no estimated time of availability, no interim repair procedure, and no software workaround. The vehicle is non-operable and poses a heightened risk of loss of control during emergency braking. I have incurred [rental car / towing / transportation] costs of approximately $5000.00. Request: I request that this complaint be logged as a safety concern under NHTSA's jurisdiction. I request that Stellantis provide a replacement ABS module at no cost to the owner, or issue a formal service action / safety recall for this defect. I request reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket expenses incurred while the vehicle is in an unsafe condition. I request a written response with a resolution timeline within 30 days. THIS 2025 RAM 1500 HAS AN INTERMITTENT BUT SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF POWER/STALL DURING THE AUTOMATIC START/STOP SEQUENCE, INCLUDING WHILE I AM IN ACTIVE TRAFFIC OR IN AN INTERSECTION. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS, THE TRUCK MAY NOT RESTART OR RESPOND NORMALLY WHEN I NEED TO ACCELERATE, LEAVING ME STOPPED AND EXPOSED TO CROSS TRAFFIC OR REAR-END IMPACT. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO DISPLAYED ABNORMAL TRANSMISSION/GEAR MESSAGES DURING START/STOP OPERATION, INCLUDING PROMPTING ME TO CHANGE THE SHIFT GEAR FROM PARK WITHOUT ME INTENTIONALLY SELECTING PARK. THIS BEHAVIOR IS UNPREDICTABLE AND CREATES A REAL RISK THAT THE VEHICLE CAN BECOME IMMOBILIZED OR ENTER AN UNEXPECTED GEAR/SHIFT STATE IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO SUBURBAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF GARDEN CITY, MICHIGAN, FOUR TIMES FOR THIS SAME SAFETY CONCERN. THE DEALER HAS NOT REPAIRED THE CONDITION, STATING THEY CANNOT REPLICATE IT BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT. AN INTERMITTENT DEFECT THAT CAUSES STALLING OR LOSS OF PROPULSION IN TRAFFIC IS STILL A SAFETY DEFECT, AND RETURNING THE VEHICLE UNREPAIRED DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE DANGER. I AM REQUESTING THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS CONDITION ON 2025 RAM 1500 VEHICLES, INCLUDING THE START/STOP, POWERTRAIN, TRANSMISSION CONTROL, AND RELATED SOFTWARE/ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS. THIS VEHICLE HAS PUT ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS MULTIPLE TIMES, AND I AM CONCERNED THAT A CRASH, INJURY, OR DEATH COULD OCCUR IF THIS DEFECT IS NOT IDENTIFIED AND CORRECTED.

- #11765497September 19, 2026STRUCTURE:INTERIOR PANELS:SUN VISOR
The sunvisors fall out of their brackets while driving, causing immediate loss of visibility. To be clear, it's not the bracket that's designed for the visor to pop in and out of. It’s the main bracket that holds the visor supposedly permanently in place. Both of mine have broken and fallen out so I know this is widespread and not just one bracket that randomly failed, not to mention the widespread documentation on the Internet of others having the same problem. This is a major safety issue due to how quickly the visit falls into the drivers vision, reducing visibility of the windshield by approximately 90%.

Dodge Ram Engine light and battery light turn on. I take it to a mechanic close to my house. Service manager connects the truck to the computer and vehicle shows error in alternator which. Dodge specific parts and he advises me to take the truck straight to dodge and not drive it anymore that the battery voltage is dropping and not charging. He sends me email breakdown of all error codes and tells me to give it to dodge. I drop off at dodge and provide all information to advisor including error codes. I tell them everything that happened and what the manager said about the battery voltage. They claim all information I provided wont all fit on the ticket so erases it and put basic information regarding voltage error. I offered to show him the pics and the report that was provided to me by other mechanic but he stated that they will have to do their own diagnostics anyway. Says that my truck has a bunch of software recalls that may clear the problem. I get a call they did a software update that cleared and fixed the problem and it wasn't the MGU. Vehicle was fixed and i could pick up. I pick up truck and the warning lights were cleared. Took it home no more driving. My 17 year old drives truck next day for school event, on his way to school event both lights turn back on. I tell him to come straight home we switch cars and i take directly to dodge. As i'm driving I'm paying attention to the voltage on battery, within a 10 mile drive to drop truck off at dodge the voltage goes from 12.? down to 10.9V. at 10.5 V the vehicles computers will lose power which can cause the power steering to go stiff, transmission to lock up or engine to stall abruptly mid drive. If this would have happened while my son was driving on hwy loop 410 in San Antonio (a major and very busy road) it could have been a disaster causing a wreck, potential loss of control or worse potentially ending in death or serious injury in a truck that was released the day prior as being fixed.

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 3.0L, VIN [XXX]. My vehicle previously received an EGR/emissions-related repair in XXX. The vehicle records also show emissions-related campaigns/repairs, including VB1, V08, and VA7. I am concerned that Ram/Stellantis is not honoring applicable EGR coverage associated with the class action lawsuit XXX v. FCA US LLC, Civil Action No.XXX, in the [XXX]. This case concerns alleged defects involving EGR coolers in 2014–2019 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel trucks. The court-approved settlement provides coverage relating to the EGR cooler issue. I contacted Ram/Stellantis and the dealership and requested that they review my VIN and the applicable recall and extended warranty information. I was told that the applicable coverage was not showing or was not being honored. I was also given manufacturer case number XXX. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether my VIN is covered by the applicable EGR recall, warranty extension, or court-approved settlement and whether my previous January 2023 EGR repair affects eligibility for later applicable coverage. My vehicle currently has approximately 168,000 miles. I can provide repair orders, recall documentation, dealership communications, and other supporting records. I respectfully request that NHTSA document this complaint and investigate whether Stellantis/Ram is properly complying with applicable recall and extended-coverage requirements. We have had sudden engine shut down issues with this truck for close to a year. We have had it at the dealership several times and they say they cannot get the issue resolved and cannot duplicate it. The truck begins running rough, as you slow the vehicle to a stop, the engine dies; the message shows "auto brake disabled" use run brake to restart. After the last visit to the dealership, the engine missing is more prominent, and the stop happened as the vehicle was moving at low speed (preparing to stop and at a near stop). The dealership claims they ran the engine at idle for a length of time with no issues. They also said they drove it several miles with no issues. I picked up the truck that same day, just before they closed. I went approximately 2 miles and while stopped at a red light, the engine stopped and the auto brake warning appeared again. I drove another 4 miles to a drive-up window, as the vehicle slowed, the engine stopped, and the auto brake activated at slow speed.

While towing a 17ft trailer I had to slam on the brakes to avoid another vehicle. The trailer brakes and ABS on my truck did not work. I managed to avoid the other vehicle but the ABS, trailer and parking brake light all came on a couple minutes later. The lights went off but came back on a couple of days later. On XXX I took the truck to the Ram dealer in [XXX], where I originally bought it from and they diagnosed the brake module had gone out. Code C2200-49. On XXX I was informed that there is not part available to make the repair. This is an important safety component for towing a trailer and is required in [XXX]. The module is on order but as of today XXX there is still no part available. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ABS control module “A” has failed internally. Vehicle went into limp mode and is inoperable due to this issue. I’ve eliminated other possibilities as to the cause and have narrowed it down to the ABS control module. ABS light, traction control, brake, electronic throttle control, and service shifter lights are all activated and activated at the time that the issue began.

I have had the ABS control module show an internal fault twice now in 3 years. The latest incident was while I was towing my travel trailer. When the unit sets a code, it disables the trailer brakes, along with the anti-lock brakes. This could be really bad in on a hill or sudden need to stop. The first occurrence was in 2023. I was unable to find a replacement, so i found a company to repair the unit. After the current incident, I have started looking for a new unit. They are still not readily available. How can this not be a major safety problem? Manufacturers are required to provide ABS systems in cars, but not the parts to fix the systems? This seems to be a very common problem with the 2013-2018 Ram 1500 trucks. The problem part shows C2200, ABS module internal; internal electronic fault.

Electronic power steering rack and pinion failed and made the steering wheel very difficult to turn. This caused the truck to turn wide into a parking lot and almost strike another vehicle. This issue is a known problem for other RAM models, but does not officially apply to mine. Now, the truck will start fine, as soon as you turn the steering wheel, an alert comes up on the dash and the steering wheel is difficult to turn.

To Whom It May Concern at NHTSA, I am filing this safety complaint regarding a defective ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) on my 2017 Ram 1500 TRADESMAN CREW CAB 4x4 5.7L Hemi with approximately 92,000 miles. DEFECT DESCRIPTION: The ABS HCU has failed, resulting in complete loss of anti-lock braking, traction control, electronic stability control, 4WD and cruise control. This is an identical failure mode to the defect addressed under NHTSA Recall 24V-896, which covered 2017-2018 Ram 2500-5500 trucks. My 2017 Ram 1500 uses the same or substantially similar HCU component and is experiencing the identical failure. SAFETY RISK: The loss of ABS, ESC, 4WD and traction control significantly increases the risk of a crash, particularly in adverse weather conditions. This is not a minor inconvenience — it is a serious safety hazard that FCA/Stellantis has already acknowledged in heavier-duty Ram platforms. MANUFACTURER KNOWLEDGE: FCA was aware of this defect as early as 2016 based on warranty claims and customer complaints. Despite issuing Recall 24V-896 for heavier Ram trucks with the same HCU failure, FCA has failed to extend recall coverage to the 2017 Ram 1500, leaving thousands of owners without remedy. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Repair estimates range from $1,200 to $2,000. The part (OEM #XXX) remains on backorder or engineering hold, making timely repair impossible through normal channels. REQUESTED ACTION: I respectfully request that NHTSA: 1. Open a formal investigation into the 2017 Ram 1500 ABS HCU failures for thousands of trucks, 2. Compel FCA/Stellantis to expand Recall 24V-896 or issue a new recall to include the 2017 Ram 1500 3. Require FCA to reimburse owners who have already paid for this repair out of pocket I am happy to provide any additional documentation, repair invoices, or diagnostic reports upon request, or 4. Compel FCA/Stellantis to purchase defective owner vehicles at fair market value.

The front fuel tank strap mounting bracket broke. There is a recall (U-04/NHTSA 18V-160) for model years 2009-2012 for this issue. It also was added to models thru 2018 as TSB/Ext. Warranty #14-002-18 Rev. A., which expired on my vehicle in March 2026. This means that the expense will be out of my pocket. What I don't understand is, it is a known safety issue on 2009-2018 Ram 1500 trucks, but only a recall for model years 2009-12. And since the recall doesn't presently cover my model year (2014), there was no notification of this issue sent to me. I believe that since it is a known issue included in a recall/TSB of model years through 2018, the recall should be extended to cover all model years. This failure could put myself and others at risk because there is only one bracket holding my fuel tank on, which could cause loss of control of vehicle or a fire to the vehicle if the remaining bracket breaks. This issue was discovered by a private auto repair shop, in which there were no warnings signals from the vehicle.

- #11764960September 17, 2026STEERING, WHEELS, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
I am filing this complaint regarding my 2024 Ram 1500 and unresolved defects that I reported while the vehicle was still covered by the bumper-to-bumper warranty. My primary concern is the steering and handling. I reported multiple times that the steering wheel is crooked, the truck pulls to the left, and the vehicle does not drive or track correctly. These complaints began before the bumper-to-bumper warranty expired. I was told that the vehicle needed an alignment and four new tires. I followed those recommendations and paid for both, but the problem never went away. The issue has now become a serious safety concern. At highway speeds, the front end wobbles and shakes significantly. I am concerned about the safety and stability of the vehicle and believe the steering, suspension, or other front-end components need to be properly inspected and diagnosed. Stellantis and the dealership now appear to be relying on the fact that the bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired, even though I began reporting and attempting to repair this same problem while the warranty was still active. The truck has also had issues with the sunroof/headliner, Uconnect system, and driver-side window button, but my main concern is the unresolved steering and front-end problem. I am requesting that Stellantis fully diagnose and repair this previously reported defect at no cost to me and provide an appropriate remedy if the vehicle cannot be safely and permanently repaired.

The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that one of the brake calipers was locking up, causing the vehicle to veer from side to side while accelerating. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic, where a technician diagnosed the vehicle with a seized brake caliper. The service center confirmed the failure. Due to the constant dragging, the brake pads became excessively worn and failed to perform as needed. The brake parts were replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact was able to control the vehicle; however, the steering wheel was firmer than normal.
