  SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR INFOTAINMENT ISSUES SERVICE INFORMATION When diagnosing an infotainment issue or after replacement of the AV Control Unit, it is necessary to verify the current software version of the AV Control Unit to determine if a software version update is required. Use the vehicle tables in this bulletin to determine the current software version, if the AV Control Unit requires a software version update, and which procedure to use to update the AV Control Unit. The software updates in this bulletin are to address stability improvements and “bug” fixes. IMPORTANT: If the customer is experiencing a software related concern, refer to NTB21-038 to verify if the customer concern is a hardware or software related issue. If the concern is a software related issue, review the information in this bulletin to update the AV Control Unit as needed.

  Tire Chain Owner’s Manual Addendum Voluntary Service Campaign *****Dealer Announcement***** Nissan is providing owners of approximately 183,498 2021-2022 Nissan Sentra vehicles with a supplemental Owner’s Manual addendum. The 2021-2022 Sentra Owner’s Manual is missing the caution note about tire size restriction when using tire chains. Customers will be asked to place the addendum, which includes the caution note, inside the Owner’s Manual that came with their vehicle. *****What Dealers Should Do***** 1. If a dealer receives a supplemental Owner’s Manual addendum for a vehicle they have retailed, currently have in their new vehicle or pre-owned inventory, or a Nissan Rental Car (NRC), the dealer should either forward the owner’s manual addendum to the current owner or add the addendum to the Owner’s Manual in the glove box of any affected vehicle they currently control. 2. Customers receiving this Owner’s Manual addendum have been advised to place it inside the Owner’s Manual that came with their vehicle. ***** Release Schedule ***** Owner Notification Nissan will begin mailing the Owner’s Manual addendum to owners of all potentially affected vehicles beginning February 2023 via U.S. Mail. ***** Dealer’s Responsibility ***** It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service Comm or DBS National Service History - Open Campaigns using the appropriate Campaign I.D. for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary service campaign, which for any reason, enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in dealer inventory. If a VIN subject to this voluntary service campaign was part of a dealer trade, the letter associated with that VIN should be forwarded to the appropriate dealer for service completion.

  CVT Class Action Owner Notification In mid-December, current and former owners and lessees of the following vehicles will receive a postcard from a Settlement Administrator informing them of the terms of a proposed class action that, subject to final court approval, could extend the warranty on the CVT for the following vehicles: 2017-2018 Altima (L33) 2018-2019 Sentra (B17) 2018-2019 Versa Sedan (N17) 2018-2019 Versa Note (E12) The proposed settlement (including the proposed warranty extension) is still subject to final approval by the court presiding over the proposed settlement. The court will determine if the settlement will be approved at or shortly after a hearing that is scheduled for March 20, 2023. To be clear, unless and until the proposed settlement is approved by the presiding court, there is no warranty extension and you should proceed with CVT-related claims as outlined below in #3 under what dealers should do. The proposed settlement, and the associated potential warranty extension, include many terms and conditions. Rather than attempting to address questions about the proposed settlement terms from customers, it is strongly recommended that you refer customers to the website and/or telephone number listed below so that they can receive information from appropriate sources and in order to avoid providing incorrect and/or incomplete information. The telephone number and website should be active by December 15, 2022. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** No action is necessary at this time. Nissan will provide additional instructions in late May if and when the proposed settlement is approved and becomes effective. 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges.

  DRIVE SHAFT BOOT SERVICE INFORMATION SERVICE INFORMATION If a Drive Shaft (Axle Shaft) Boot on an APPLIED VEHICLE is found to be leaking grease, AND There is no abnormal noise or obvious CV Joint risk due to water intrusion and/or complete grease loss, check for REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) availability.  If there is a REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) available for the vehicle being repaired, do NOT replace the axle. Install a new boot kit following the procedure in the ESM. o Refer to the ESM: TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE > FRONT AXLE > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BOOT o If the complete axle (drive shaft) is replaced when only a new boot is required, the over-repair may be charged back to the dealer.  If there is NOT a REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) available for the vehicle being repaired, refer to the ESM for further diagnostic information. IMPORTANT: When servicing vehicles with staked axle nuts, refer to NTB21-013 to prevent Drive Shaft thread damage.
