ENGINE
2015 KIA SEDONA EX WITH 36,600+ MILES HAD CRITICAL ENGINE FAILURE. THE KIA SEDONA WAS PURCHASED WITH 32,470 ON 1/042021. THE ENGINE SEIZED ON APRIL 15 2023 WHILE DRIVING TO A RELIGIOUS MEETING. FORTUNATELY WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO A PARKING SPOT THAT WAS OPEN AS THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY AND I TOOK THE NEXT DAY TO CHANGE THE BATTERY BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK OVER OR START. THE SEDONA WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP THAT WAS AFFILIATED WITH THE WARRANTY COMPANY ON APRIL 17 AFTER I CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE WARRANTY COMPANY. THE ENGINE IS INSPECTED AND TAKEN APART TO SEE THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC/REPAIR SHOP NOTIFIES THE WARRANTY COMPANY THAT ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY ORDERS AN INSPECTION. I WAS AUTHORIZED TO ATTAIN A RENTAL CAR ON THE APRIL 24 UNTIL THE INSPECTION WAS COMPLETED. I WAITED FOR THE THE WARRANTY COMPANY TO SEND AN INSPECTOR THROUGHOUT THAT WEEK. ON APRIL 28 I COMMUNICATED WITH THE MECHANIC/REPAIR SHOP AS TO THE STATUS OF THE MY VEHICLE AND THE RESULTS OF THE INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE FAILED BECAUSE OF THE CRANK SHAFT AND PISTON RODS AND BEARINGS SEIZING/BREAKING. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS AN ISSUE THAT MANY OTHER KIAS AND HYUNDAIS WERE HAVING WITH THEIR ENGINES, AND THAT ENGINE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT ENGINES WERE ALSO NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO THE NUMBER OF FAILURES THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH. AS I DID RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE, I FIND OUT THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WITH REGARDS TO OTHER KIA AND HYUNDAI ENGINE FAILURE WITH THE SAME TYPE OF DAMAGE. I AM REQUESTING HELP OR ASSISTANCE FROM YOUR AGENCY TO HELP ME BECOME A PLAINTIFF IN THIS SAME LAWSUIT, SO THAT I CAN BE PART OF THIS LAWSUIT AND HAVE MY ENGINE REPAIRED/REPLACED. The contact owns a 2015 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that on various occasions, the gear shift lever seized. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the shift lever assembly needed to be replaced. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V612000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was informed by the mechanic that the gear shifter failed to shift into drive(D). The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Kia Sedona 2017 with 134,682 miles. Feb 6, 2023. Sudden engine failure during rush hour traffic resulting in a very hazardous situation. No warnings were given prior to failure. All service and recall stuff done by Kia dealer. Kia diagnosis, engine frozen and needs new engine. Failure of warning systems and failure causing an inoperable condition placed driver at grave risk and needs prompt attention.

TIRE SEZE 235/60 R 18 103H - Tires are original equipment on our 2019 KIA Sedona. Only 16000 miles on tires. Had vehicle to dealership a few weeks before incident and tires rotated and tires were OK. Did a family trip from New Jersey to Florida. On the way home vehicle started shaking really bad. Hard to control vehicle. This was during the night driving at high speed on interstate I-95. I got out and looked at vehicle at rest stops in the middle of the night and saw nothing wrong...so I slowed down to minimum speed all the way home from North Carolina to our home in Cherry Hill NJ. Took vehicle to dealer and was informed that there was a problem with tire. Uneven Cupping around the bead of the wheel. Tried to balance. Tire was not mounting properly on rim. Rim is not bent or uneven. Tried to contact Kumho and opened an incident but was told my KIA dealer had to provide information, which they did, however Kumho refused to help out with the cost of the new tire ($261.67). I could have had a serious accident on the way home with a tire that only had 16000 miles on it. I am still in possession of the tire if you need to see it

AIR BAGS
PLEASE DO RECALL ON THIS 2014 KIA Sedona, only 53,000 miles, for bad airbag system 2014 KIA airbag light on instr panel comes on, then off, then stays on. I took it to kia dealer and they said it was the ocs (passenger occupant sensor) in the seat, BUT when i sit in the drivers seat and with both seatbelts latched, i can press down on pass seat and the passenger airbag off light on the middle dash next to clock goes off (doesn't this say the sensor mat in the seat "is" working ? )... I wondering if they mis-diagnosed it. Any ideas how to get the instr airbag light to go off ? I checked 2 airbag fuses under dash, both good. Interestingly around the same time as the instru airbag light started staying on, the 2nd cigarette light blew a fuse (related? ) ... THANKS if you can please text me when any answer is posted [XXX]... thx or email me so I know to check. Dealer said $1,000 to fix it ?? Driving freeway with much traffic. Engine suddenly quit and nothing worked. Had to coast into a safety shoulder and was almost wrecked in the process. There was no warnings on the instrument panel. Car had been routinely serviced. According to Kia Service, the engine froze due to oil sludge (used synthetic oil). The engine is actually a 2016 model. Mileage is 134,682. Event was 2/623.

We barely use it and just for Sunday service only which our church is just 2 miles away from our home. We did the oil change last July 2022 and on December 2022, Suddenly the engine stops working (ONLY 120 MILEAGE ADDED). NO WARNING LIGHTS or INDICATION saying ENGINE OLI needs to change. My son heard a clunk noise while he's on the way home. Huntington Beach Hyundai Service center said that the ENGINE BROKE DUE TO OIL ISSUE.

Headlights will shut off while driving. This sometimes will occur on its own, other times, it appears to be caused when using the turn signal lever. The lights will come back on by touching/moving the lever. This is dangerous and could lead to an accident.

The power lock on the sliding door on the driver's side does not latch. In order to fully close the door, you must turn off the power lock for the door. Otherwise, it unlatches and dings the entire time you are driving. The door without the power turned on is very difficult to open and sometimes will not open. This is a safety concern. Other models have been recalled. Why has this one not been recalled?

Power Door (passenger side) closed on me when other door was opened. As I was putting a child into the passenger side middle row seat the passenger side sliding door closed on its own. (The door on the other side of van was opened at the same time the one began to close.) It did not stop when it it my body and kept closing. I tried pushing on the door to stop it from continuing to close but it didn’t stop. My husband reached to push the button to open it back up. I had bruise on my arm and cut on my thigh from the door attempting to close on me.

My Daughter was driving my Kia Sedona Van - distracted and on wet roads ran into a firehydrant and pole. During the accident, the Air Bags did not employ. The Passenger fell forward and broke the windshield with her head, leading to a Concucussion. We are thankful for two Children who are alive after this accident. We are disappointed tho that the airbags didnt protect our child more.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The headlights are auto leveling based on load. Although there is no load in my vehicle the headlights do not shine out very far in front of the vehicle. There is a very distinct cut off line on the road. There is no way of adjusting them. This is very dangerous because you cannot see whats ahead of the vehicle in the dark. The attached photo is the headlights shining on my garage door.

The contact owns a 2008 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that the key fob failed to open and unlock the doors as well as to deactivate the alarm system. The contact stated that the rear driver’s and passenger’s side windows failed to open fully, and the passenger’s side front door failed to close correctly as the chime and dome light remained on while driving. The contact stated to remedy the door failure her spouse placed a piece of metal between the door and the sensor to correct the failure. The rear passenger’s side sliding door also failed to connect with the sensor correctly as the door chime and dome light remained on. The check engine warning light would illuminate while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unknown to the contact however, the contact stated that she was informed that the battery, air bag sensors, and four catalytic converters needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a radiator center where the failure was diagnosed as a relay that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that they had a SMOG test completed and was informed that only one catalytic converter had to be replaced. The catalytic converter was not replaced due to the cost. The contact stated that while her spouse was driving approximately 30 MPH, the brake was depressed, and the vehicle failed to stop as the brake started to pulsate. The contact stated that the vehicle collided with another vehicle. The contact stated that no injuries were sustained in either vehicle. The contact stated that the California Highway Patrol was contacted and was on the scene however, a report was not filed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnoses or repairs. The contact stated that she received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V088000 (Electrical System, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) in January of 2021. The dealer was notified and stated that the parts were not available as they had to order them. The

WE HAVE A 2016 KIA SEDONA, BOUGHT IN 2017 AS A KIA CERTIFIED. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL RECALLS SINCE OUR OWNERSHIP. FOR THE LAST 2-3 YEARS WE HAVE DRIVEN IT SPARINGLY. WE TOOK IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGE AT 97,000 + MILES. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF ANY MAJOR ENGINE CONCERNS. WE AGAIN TOOK IT IN TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP, FOR A SPARE TIRE CABLE ISSUE AT 99,186 MILES AGAIN NO MENTION OF ENGINE ISSUES. THE KIA DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A MULTIPOINT INSPECTION, AND REPAIRED A TURN SIGNAL ISSUE, AND SUGGESTED SOME OTHER MAINTENANCE ITEMS, THAT WOULD NEED ATTENTION SOON, BRAKES ECT. AT 102,866, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP, WE HAVE USED BEFORE, FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WE WERE INFORMED THAT SOMEONE HAD PUT STOP LEAK IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THEY SAID WE SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A HEAD GASKET ISSUE. WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FULL SERVICE SHOP, WHERE, THEY DIDN'T DETECT A COOLANT LEAK. WE DID NOTICE COOLANT WAS RUNNING LOW, BUT NONE WAS SPOTTED ON THE GROUND. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE PREVIOUS REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY INFORMED US OF A POSSIBLE BLOWNED HEAD GASKET, BUT COULDN'T CONFIRM, BECAUSE OF OIL ALL OVER THE UNDER CARRIAGE, THROUGH ALL OF THIS THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNAL OR LIGHTS, UNTIL THE TEMP GAGE MOVED TOWARDS HIGH AND THE OIL LIGHT FLICKERED A COUPLE OF TIMES. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ENGINE WAS PROBABLY SHOT. THE VEHICLE IS AGAIN AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP. NO RESOLVE YET. WE NOW UNDERSTAND THAT THAT KIA HAS RECALLED QUITE A NUMBER OF THEIR VEHICLES FOR SIMULAR ENGINE ISSUES. WE GOT A RECALL FOR A LEAKING OIL SWITCH, WHICH WE INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP OF. ARE THE KIA SEDONA'S ON THE RECALL LIST?

Took our 2015 Kia Sedona for an oil change and checkup due to the engine overheating multiple times. They did the oil change at about 96k miles and said nothing was wrong with the engine. That if anything were to happen then just bring it back in. We went on a trip to Georgia from Miami, we got stranded there because the engine again started overheating. We got the car back and took it to Kia in Doral. Service department stated that the head was damaged. Sales manager says it needed a new engine that would cost us 7500 to replace. We owe 7200 on the vehicle. That would put us at 14k dollars when it was not our fault that the engine failed at 96k miles. The sales manager at Doral Kia promised that they would take care of the 7200 loan if we bought a New Kia Carnival once they arrive in the lot. We took our Kia Sedona and left it there while we waited a week for the Kia Carnival to arrive. We finally get a call and we walk in to see it. Car states on window sticker MSRP $36k. We wait for them to bring the financing paper work and they put the cars MSRP AT $51k. Very upsetting what we encountered. Turns out that the scammers will only pay our loan off if we pay their markup of $51k for the new van. After expressing how upset we were for having waited our time, they try to say that the only way they could sell the New Kia Carnival to us at MSRP of $36k is if we pay the 7200 that we owe and we leave our Kia Sedona to them as trade in for ZERO dollars. Need this issue resolved asap!
