In the early afternoon hours of July 5, 2024, our 2022 jeep gladiator rubicon with only 18,000 miles spontaneously combusted in our driveway after being parked there for just under 24 hours. While working in the yard, my husband noticed thick black smoke coming from the engine. The smoke quickly turned into flames then rapidly intensified as it spread throughout the engine, cabin and then ultimately the entire jeep. The jeep was a total and complete loss with Jeep claiming no responsibility whatsoever. We have over $60,000 in damages to our home, driveway, landscaping and soil (PFAS) from the fire, NOT including the jeep itself. Note *The engine light did go on about a month prior to the fire, which from what we were told by Jeep service dept, was due to multiple misfires. This issue was resolved immediately. After the fire, the jeep was inspected by our insurance company and also by Jeep. Because the fire was so intense and quickly spread, there wasn’t anything left. Jeep never returned our calls and never once tried to make things right! Our safety was at risk for obvious reasons. The Jeep spontaneously started on fire due to no fault of our own. Had we not have been home, or had the Jeep been parked in our garage, facing the garage or the fire started at night while we were sleeping, the outcome would have been quite different. The damage it DID do to our property along with the mental anxiety and stress of trying to pay for repairs is significant enough without actually having our house burn down to the ground. This is unacceptable! Jeep needs to take responsibility!

The High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) failed while I was entering a downhill curve on a paved but narrow mountain road with no shoulder. The HPFP had been under an active recall, (Y78 / NHTSA 21V-880) but every time we went in for service our Jeep dealership said a remedy was not yet available. When I asked if it was safe to drive, they said yes, continue to drive the vehicle and that they would call us when a remedy became available. Not very sage advice. The failure happened while we were on vacation in a remote area of New Mexico, four hours away from home. An unrecognizable warning light flashed but did not remain on. The engine remained running, but the HPFP failure caused a complete loss of power to the engine and transmission. Steering became difficult. I gently braked and coasted to a safe spot. Luckily that spot was a forest service road about a quarter of a mile from where the Jeep lost power. We had the vehicle towed to the nearest Jeep Dealership. They confirmed that the HPFP failed. It took 2 months for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA), and that dealership to address the HPFP issue. At the end of 2 months, they called and said the vehicle was fixed and ready. While driving home from the dealership a check engine light came on. That was [XXX]. We had the vehicle towed to our local Jeep dealership. Our dealership checked and said that there were still metal shavings in the fuel system. Our dealership and FCA have not found a solution and our Jeep is still inoperable and setting at the dealership. My vehicle has about 17,000 miles. Both key fobs are failing to connect with the vehicle. The batteries have been checked by the dealership to determine the fobs are in working order. Without having the fob work, I am unable to unlock my doors or start the engine. Thankfully, learnng my fobs were not connecting occured while in my garage at my home. However, if this occured while away from home, or at night, I would have been stranded with no access to drive the vehicle. My Gladiator will have to be towed to the dealership now to get this resolved.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle and turning the engine off, approximately two hours later the contact discovered smoke and flames coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. During the fire, the garage was destroyed and the exterior of the home was partially damaged. A fire report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was later towed away. The fire department and insurance investigator concluded that the fire had originated in the engine compartment of the vehicle. The exact cause of the fire was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the fire. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 1000.

Had seen that Chrysler had a recall for electrical for the dash cluster going on/black. It had just went completely black so I was unable to tell if vehicle was in gear, the speed of the vehicle. I went to the dealer and was told it was a known problem and the part was on national back order and would take over a month to receive. I went through Infotainment with the mileage and purchase/replaced on my own. I do still have the OEM part. FCS's # 30B Infotainment order #[XXX] ordered on 8/2/2024 at a cost of $1,148.59. The other day I went out to my truck and the battery was dead lights clicking and wipers going. It's the original battery so I assume that I needed a new one bought one put it in find a couple days and then went out in the morning and the battery was dead. Put in another new battery, same thing drove a few days and this morning the battery is dead. So something is draining my battery? I have not done anything to it since it was new no addition. There's a lot of form on the internet with similar issues concerned about what's draining my battery??? Just went out of warranty!

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
This vehicle has a repeating electronic problem involving the warning lights and function of abs, traction control, four-wheel drive system, forward collision warning, and both adaptive and normal cruise control. When the steering wheel is turned slightly right, like when navigating a highway curve, those warnings illuminate and the vehicle disables cruise control. It also has a lack of power due to what seems to be the traction control system activating. Also, the brake system has a shutter in the pedal and has reduced effectiveness for a few moments until the ABS and traction control systems stop function. I have taken the vehicle into a dealer, Larry H Miller CDJR in West Bountiful, Utah when it started to show this problem as I was leaving Portland. They replaced the front left ABS wheel speed sensor. This did not rectify the problem. I then took it to Gene's Chrysler in Fairbanks, Alaska upon my return home. That shop failed to warranty the repair, and charged additional diagnosis fees on top of correcting the Z96 high pressure fuel pump recall. They advised replacing the clock spring in the steering wheel that provides electrical connection to the buttons and is integrated in all of those safety systems. Prior Jeep models have had a consistent problem with the clock spring failing and a recall was issued due to affecting airbag deployment from the steering wheel. I am concerned that this clock spring related issue may lead to reduced braking effectiveness, loss of power at speed to react to traffic, and failure to deploy the airbag in an accident. The dealerships will not warranty this repair.

The gladiator doors do not seal right. When I take this brand new truck through the car wash, every time I get water spraying through the bottom of the door onto my leg. It is not safe to have water spray getting into a vehicle. I am scared for what happens when I drive it in the rain.

Several times while driving on the interstate highway, my gladiator starts shaking violently! It is just at normal highway speeds. It is not like going too fast or anything. It seems like if it hits some rough spot in the road that it begins shaking and won't stop. If I change lanes, it keeps going with the shaking. Not until I slow way down will it stop shaking. This vehicle has less than 5000 miles on it. It is scary and unsafe.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced the death wobble and briefly vibrated and swayed from side to side. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the steering dampener. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who then diagnosed failures with all four shocks and steering rods. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

I was turning a corner and as soon as I made the turn, the truck completely stalled. Lights were on and the screen was prompting me to step on the brake and press start even though the gear was on Drive. The gear wouldn't shift to neutral to at least remove the car from the busy street. The dash lights were flashing and as I tried to restart the car, it just made a grinding sound. Almost got hit by two other vehicles. No other symptoms observed other than when on a freeway a few months ago, the vehicle was having difficulty switching to a higher gear in a stop and go traffic. It was stuck at 30mph even when gas pedal was engaged and everyone behind and around were picking up higher speed than 30.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I took my vehicle(2022 Jeep Gladiator)in for service on [XXX] for repair relating to a clutch recall 19A/NHTSA 23V-116, also a second E-Brake repair(previous repair was completed under the 36k mile warranty), oil change, inspection and tire rotation. The part for the recall was order and the replacement part for the recall was installed by Marburger Chrysler, Dodge Jeep, Ram Dealership(Shelby, North Carolina) about a week later. During the test drive by the certified mechanic, the new clutch failed rendering my vehicle inoperable and unsafe to drive. As of today, August 13, 2024, the part to repair my vehicle and fix for my vehicle is not available and my Jeep Gladiator has been parked at the dealership for almost three months. The dealership and manufacturer have failed and been unable to provide reliable remedy for my vehicle. I have been notified by the dealership that a remedy is currently unavailable for my vehicle. I have also contacted the recall center for JEEP and they contacted the dealership on July 30, 2024. The dealership and JEEP were unable to provide a remedy for the fix on my safety recall. The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and shifted aggressively. The vehicle would rev and jerked forward. The contact mentioned the failure occurred for several weeks. On a most recent occasion, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a right turn, the contact heard an abnormal snap coming from the front of the vehicle causing control of the vehicle to be lost. The contact mentioned that the front tires were inwards and the front axle fractured. As a result, the contact crashed into the truck and the vehicle came to a stop. A police report was filed. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was then towed to a collision center where it was diagnosed that the axle and front passenger fender flare needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle could not be shifted out of neutral. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed as a failure with the clutch assembly. The contact was informed that the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,137. Parts distribution disconnect.

Has Also stopped all the electrical with the engine driving down the road when my husband was returning from work, this is a safety issue please respond.

The vehicle would not turn over, but the battery came on. The vehicle wouldn’t allow me to turn off the battery and stayed in the position while I waited for the tow truck. By the time the vehicle made it to the dealership they refused to do a diagnostic and attempted to charge me for battery replacement even though it was due to a car malfunction. While the care was glitching the dash displayed messages about the stability control module and transmission were out and malfunctioning. If I were to be driving, the vehicle would have shut down while I was driving.

My 2021 Jeep Gladiator received the 19A Clutch Recall in late June 2024. The recall was issued due to clutch pressure plates disintegrating, blowing a hole in the transmission housing, and causing vehicle fires. Upon return, my vehicle was unable to drive smoothly. After further investigation, I determined that if the clutch and throttle were operated concurrently, the engine would shut off. The engine would shut off anywhere between 1 MPH and highway speed causing issues with operating hydraulically assisted systems (power brakes and power steering). In practice, this led to the engine shutting off between most gear shifts causing a jerky driving condition due to the engine needing to clutch start itself. I did not test how well the steering or brakes worked while the engine was shut off due to safety concerns. While pulling into my driveway, I momentarily lost control of the vehicle when the engine died while traveling at low speed and with the steering wheel turned. I lost power steering and was unable to correct the direction in travel before driving onto my lawn. I returned the vehicle to the dealership and replicated the issue for them. They confirmed the issue was present. The issue was determined to be a faulty ECU flash causing the issue. A revised flash was made available to dealerships 7/12/24 and installed in my vehicle 7/15/24. Component that Failed: Faulty ECU flash Safety: The vehicle's engine would shut off while moving Reproduced by Dealership: Yes Inspected by Manufacturer: No Warning lights or messages: No Additional Info: I have been in contact with other owners with the same issue. This faulty ECU flash seems to only have had this effect on 2021 models. The following is personal input. I hope the irony is not lost on you all that a safety recall fix caused an arguably more pronounced and repeatable safety problem. Additionally, I notified Jeep Cares that this could kill or injure someone and they told me to send Chrysler a letter.

ENGINE
The engine turned off while driving multiple times. Unexpected loss of engine power while at highway speeds forced us to maneuver to shoulder on busy highway in 70 mph zone. The dealership service team has not been able to reproduce the event or confirm it happened. The dealership service team inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings, lights, or symptoms before or after, that would have indicated the engine power loss event to us before or after the event occurred, in any of the occurrences.
