I purchased a Hyundai tucson 2022 in November 2022 and Ive been having great issues with the vehicle since. Ive had to bring the car in over 3 times in less than 2 years for powertrain issues. The first was in Oct 2023, then Nov 2023, followed by Jun 2024. Today is engine light is back on and the diagnostic code is saying Powertrain. The car misfires and there is little or no acceleration. This happened on the highway more than once and i was terrified. Also the car does this jerky shaking thing. When i spoke to the dealer about it they made it seem like an uncommon issue but after doing my research, there are lot of complaints about similar situations.

On [XXX] my daughter was driving in Meridian Ms and when she was at a red light the 2017 Hyundai Tuscon that she was driving started shaking and all the lights on the dashboard came on and she couldn't drive because it wouldn't move. She called a tow truck to have it taken to Firestone. When they looked at it, they said the reading was spark plugs and fuel injectors that needed to be replaced. After they did that, the car still would not work. We paid 1300.00 dollars for them to do this. We then had it towed to Hyundai in Flowood Ms. We learned that the whole engine needs to be replaced. We Take very good care of our cars and this shouldnt be happening. I see that there is an extended warranty for 2017 tucsons with engine failures, but our particular engine is not included in this. We have a turbo 1.6. I asked Hyundai why these particular motors are not included and they didnt know. I found alot of people are having the same engine issues as I am and i think Hyundai needs to help me out. The replacement cost of this is going to be about $10000.00 dollars. My car only has 84000.00 miles on it. Hyundai knows that there are problems with these vehicles but refuse to be any help what so ever. I just dont understand why my engine isn't included in their 150000.00 mile warranty. I dont know where else to turn for help. Thank you. Engine began to sputter then immediately shut down as I was driving. After parking safely, there were traces of metal in the oil & the oil was a milky color. Ran the code and it came up as an issue with the rod bearings.

while driving N on hwy 75 in Dallas, I was traveling at posted speed- 70- in the 2nd of 4 lanes when I was passed on either side by cars 10-15 mph faster than me. they passed almost exactly at the same time. This confused the cars auto breaking feature. The lane ahead was clear for over 100 yrds. My car braked hard and beeped a warning. There was no reason for the car to do this. This is the 3rd time the car has braked on the hwy when it was not necessary. Previously, I assumed Road trip bugs on the censor caused the issue, That could not have been the cause this time. This is also a concern because the spyware in the car is sold to insurance Companies Apparently, as bad driving behavior which may affect my rates.

I went to Thompson Automotive to finance a vehicle and within a month and half my engine blew. There were no engine lights, no lost of oil, no warning, no signs of any error, before this series of malfunctions took affect. I was on my way to the dealership and my car being slowing down to a complete stop as I was getting off the highway ramp. I was traveling at the speed of 25mph, when the car started to make loud noises that I never heard before that day, and completely shut down in front of a huge tractor trailer in traffic. The dealership has had my car since 6/7/24. Now the car has about 85,000 miles on it. I have to pay another $3,000 for my portion to get a new engine. Which is outrageous considering I just agreed to pay $19,990. I am highly disappointed that I lost my job and everything behind this horrific situation that actually feels like a set from the beginning. Now that I’m reading all the comments and unfortunate but very similar situation everyone is suffering from with the particular car. I can’t fathom why it’s still on the market to be purchase for consumers with these major and potentially deadly problems.

Took my 2017 Hyundai Tucson 1.6t engine into the service center on 8/21 for a check engine light and Bluelink notification of "A possible condition with your Engine Control System has been detected" that came on Sunday 8/18. Service center diagnosed P0326 ($159.00) From the service center: We have pulled code P0326 for an issue with the knock sensor readings. The vehicle can sue an oil change as is due and there is a gasket leak which sounds like it is from turbo or manifold gasket which is causing that rattling noise you're hearing. Below is the three itemized recommendations for this vehicle. 1) Knock sensor replacement -$635 +taxes installed 2) Oil change recommended $ 85 +taxes 3) Turbo gasket replacement $205 + taxes installed. I bought my car in 2020 and only have 53,000miles on it and was told it's out of warranty so this isn't covered - even though the 2017 Tucson's are recalled/warranty for life for engine issues for the same exact reasons mine was brought in for. This is my second hyundai, which I have always loved; however, I am disappointed in the quality of car not being up to standard due to manufacturing, and I am paying the price for it. The10yr/100k mile and 5yr/60k mile warranty advertising is misleading and deceiving. If I could go back, I wouldn't have bought a hyundai

I had 2 fuel injectors fail on my car within a 3 week period. The car is only 2.5 yrs old and has 48,500mi on it Both instances where when I was on a highway. I had the 1st fuel injector fail on [XXX] and then the 2nd one failed about 3 weeks later on [XXX]. When the 2nd fuel injector failed, I was barely able to drive the car to a safe place to get it towed. I spoke with a Hyundai Corp case worker and I asked why they didn't just replace the remaining 2 fuel injectors. Her response was that they don't replace them when they fail. I now have a 2 year old car that I am afraid to drive because I never know where or when It will leave me stranded. Attempted to make right turn onto busy road. Tried to accelerate to move with the traffic, when the car would not go any faster then 20MPH. Could hear cars braking behind me. Pulled over to the side. Message appeared on speedometer, " Limit 20MPH" with green Speedometer. Shut the car off tried to find problem in the manual. Didnt find anything. Turned car back on, it ran normal. Took it to Hyundai, Fort Myers, Appointment, on 08/28/24. They diagnosed it as : "driver assist speed setting was turned on inside settings. Turned off setting, performed a DTC code scanning with no dtcs in any system. Attached stui photos, performed a 2 mile test drive with no further issues". I can only hope that the problem is solved. I do not recall turning on anything like, and wouldn't know how to, but I guess it is possible. Wanted to notify the NHTSA, in case there are other owners experiencing the same issue. Thank you for concern

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for an oil change, the contact was informed that the subframe was significantly rusted. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 25-35 MPH, she was losing control of the vehicle. The contact was able to pull to the side of the roadway. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, she noticed that the rear passenger's side wheel was dislocated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the subframe and other parts were severely rusted. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the frame and the suspension were damaged and needed to be replaced. The contact was provided a cost for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that an undercoating spray was previously applied to the underbody of the vehicle as a corrosion preventative service under TSB Number: 16-01-045. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 105,576.

- #11611074August 27, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On Aug. 23rd, I was driving on the highway at 70mph when the emergency braking system deployed. The dashboard warning light flashed and the brakes were applied for approximately 3 seconds, and then the car returned to normal. This occurred 3 times in the span of 18 miles. At no time was there ever a vehicle directly in front of my car. Fortunately I wasn't being followed closely by another vehicle, or there would have been an accident. I took the car into the dealer and was told that they would run a diagnostic, which they did. They also drove the car for 3 miles. They were not able to replicate the problem, and found all codes to be normal. I feel like this car is an accident waiting to happen.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated and sputtered upon the depression of the accelerator pedal. Upon inspection of the engine compartment, the contact discovered that the oil level was low. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the contact was initially informed that the failure was normal with similar vehicles. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the vehicle failed to start with the oil warning light illuminated. The contact checked the oil level, and the oil was full. The vehicle eventually started with the check engine and air bag warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

- #11610843August 26, 2024SERVICE BRAKES
I brought my vehicle in to Allstar hyundai in Baton Rouge about a month after purchasing it. I told the service manager my brakes are squealing through out the day. He drove it nothing. He stated it is because of moisture. Not true. Squealing brakes means the brakes will go out. They refused to change them out. It has continued to happen multiple times each and everyday. I would love to have this reported. I have owned previous hyundai vehicle and others never ever had this problem,. I am going back for an oil change and will once again state 1) I am not stupid2) this should not be happening3) I have spoken to other mechanics and they all stated it is a BRAKE MALFUNCTION. what is my next step if they refuse? It always happened when applying brakes at stop signs/lights at speed limits.

After I have to various amounts of weight in the rear of the vehicle, the vehicle rattles in the rear. Trying to stop said vehicle is very unstable. The left front of the vehicle dips when brakes are applied. And the rear of said vehicle makes a lot of noise.

The rear passenger control arm broke off of the subframe due to severe corrosion despite Hyundai applying a corrosion preventative under recall 17-01-013 on 12/1/2015. During all service work following the preventative in 2015, corrosion was never brought up as a concern by the dealership (we have all service records since date of initial purchase). Thankfully we had just reached our destination and were parking the car when the failure happened. Had the part failed 5 minutes earlier, we would have been on the highway at over 60mph and could have been seriously injured or worse. We had our Tucson towed to the dealership for repair as well as additional recall work under Campaign 952 for corrosion of the fuel band. We were contacted by the dealership on 8/22/24 and told that the new subframe could not be installed as the corrosion was so severe, the body mounts had also corroded away so there was nothing to attach the new subframe to. The dealership advised us that our Tucson is now totaled and it is SOLELY due to corrosion that Hyundai has been aware of and has been subject to multiple class action lawsuits over it. This is absolutely unacceptable. This car is still in perfect mechanical condition and the exterior has absolutely ZERO rust but now it can no longer be driven due to Hyundai’s shoddy subframes.
