2020 Hyundai Tuscon engine continually consumes an excess amount of oil on a weekly basis causing cylinder knocks. This vehicle has been routinely maintainanced and continues to experience this issue which is an issue known by the manufacturer and has yet to be addressed seriously by the manufacturer. The vehicle is just out of warranty; however, the issue stems from known engine faults that are the responsibility of the manufacturer.

I reported the vehicle to Dealer for above oil consumption, which they confirmed with service check of oil level. Vehicle often stammered and failed to accelerate upon purchase. This vehicle stammered and Engine began to smoke. Vehicle could started first, turned unit off. Vehicle is being towed to shop for diagnostic results.

My car is experiencing trouble accelerating, making it difficult to drive. Every time I come to a complete stop at a stop sign, my car struggles to regain speed. This issue becomes particularly dangerous on the expressway, as I can’t accelerate at a decent speed to merge onto the expressway, which poses a risk to both me and other drivers.

While driving, my vehicle stopped moving forward and the engine light came on. I pulled over and called for a tow. The service department at the dealership the vehicle was towed to said that the vehicle had less than a quart of oil in it. I just had the vehicle serviced 2 months prior. The service department changed the oil, oil filter and air filter. They drove the car and heard knocking. They found the rod bearing to be bad. They said it needed a new engine. The vehicle has approximately 51,000 miles. I never had any issues prior to that day. The car manufacture is refusing to replace the engine because I am not the original owner, not because the engine isn't defective. This is a 2019 Hyundai Tuscon with engine 2.0L L4 DOHC 16V. I believe there is a known problem with this engine, but the manufacturer doesn't want to admit to anything, nor do they want to resolve the issue. My vehicle could have caught fire. I could have been in an accident. I just want the car company to replace the engine without any cost to me. I would even pay for the labor, but they need to pay for the engine and any parts or tests that come with replacing an engine.

- #11644245February 22, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
Vehicle has 36,300 miles. Engine stalled twice when shifting into reverse, MID displayed "BCW On, Check System." Continued driving home, vehicle experiences power loss (rpms drop to ~500) and electrical system sputters and sparking noises can be heard in the cabin momentarily when turning left or steering left for curves at speeds over ~20mph. Checked BCW sensor location in rear bumper for obstructions - vehicle is clean.

My catalytic converter failed at roughly 70k miles (confirmed by mechanic and replaced). I have now been having transmission issues ever since, starting with the rpms jumping up on their own when trying to downshift (reproduced by mechanic) and ending with the car fully going into limp mode while in the middle of driving on the highway at speed. The former never triggered a light or produced codes, and with the latter the CEL flashed three times at the very start of the breakdown, and then went off and never came back on, despite the obvious problems the car was having.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and was pulled over to the side of the road and stalled. The vehicle was restarted 20 minutes later with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer twice however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that on the second visit to the dealer, the dealer was able to provide an undisclosed update for the engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,089.

- #11643749February 19, 2025AIR BAGS
I was driving straight when a vehicle coming from the opposite direction made a left turn without yielding, crossing into my lane. As a result, my vehicle collided with the other car at full speed. However, the airbag in my steering wheel did not deploy upon impact, as it should have. My injuries have been significantly more severe than they would have been had the airbag functioned properly. I reported this issue to the vehicle manufacturer, and they opened a case and conducted an inspection. During their inspection, they found that the airbag had since deployed. However, my vehicle was transported off a steep hill and moved to multiple lots before the inspection, any of which could have triggered a delayed deployment. Despite this, the manufacturer has refused to accept liability. Because the airbag failed to deploy at the time of impact, there was no buffer between me and the steering wheel. This resulted in excessive force against my chest from the seatbelt and direct impact with the steering wheel, leading to more severe injuries. There were no warning lights on in the vehicle before the crash, nor were there any recalls related to this issue at the time of the incident.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The check engine light warning illuminated, and another unknown warning light flashed. The contact was approaching a traffic light and then while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, parked the vehicle, and turned off the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. Several independent mechanics were contacted, and the contact was made aware of a possible recall related to the failure. The contact called the manufacturer and was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the engine was knocking. The vehicle was not repaired because the manufacturer was waiting on the maintenance records for the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

- #11643566February 18, 2025VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
There is a sensor on the steering column that turns off the cruise control if it can’t see your eyes. This happens abruptly and slows the car down. It will cause a rear end collision if not taken care of! Has been to the dealer 5 times.is available for more inspection. Fuel injector failure. Sudden loss of engine power creates a major safety issue when traveling at speed on highways or especially busy interstate highways. Vehicle was towed to dealer and repaired under warranty promptly. This is a known issue with this and other Hyundai models and all four fuel injectors should be replaced. At present, Hyundai only authorizes one be replaced at a time as they malfunction.

Car would not accelerate after getting on the interstate. Had to ease vehicle off exit ramp to side of road. Multiple engine lights on. Car would no longer start. Had independent mechanic shop evaluate as well as local Hyundai dealership. Both determined internal compression rod failure. Only solution is to replace engine. It is a 1.6L T for 2017 Tucson. The VIN for this car shows no engine recall but is the exact same issue that has resulted in Hyundai engine recall with the 2.0 vehicles.

- #11643276February 17, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving 70mph on the freeway, the car’s emergency braking assistance activated twice for no apparent reason. This is very dangerous at such high speeds and could result in a serious accident if cars are following close behind. This car has not been inspected for this issue. A google search of this issue revealed many similar complaints that have not been addressed or taken seriously. A possible related warning message about “blocked forward safety” has appeared a few times in the last week.

- #11643104February 17, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Forward Collision Emergency Braking. Have had this happen on 5 different occasions. Very dangerous. The vehicle without warning slams on the emergency brakes and issues a warning. Took into dealer and they could find NO error codes and did nothing. First time this happened I thought maybe a bag or something flew up and obscured the forward facing sensors. Pulled over and checked nothing. Then 3 times it happened within 5 minutes. Pulled over and sensors looked fine no dirt or anything on the sensors. Can not drive car with this and so have been disabling the system except for a warning tone. Today it activated it again. Usually when I approach something the sensors turn yellow and then red when getting real close to an object. But today when it activated when not close to anything and driving down the road all the forward sensors activated with the warning but it was gray. (not yellow or red) Since I had it on warning only the brakes did not activate. This is very dangerous and unless you disable the automatic emergency braking could lead someone to plow into the backend of the SUV and it evidentially does not cause error codes. Yes,someone can contact me concerning this. This has happened multiple times. Intermittently.

- #11642987February 16, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
On January 26, 2024, at AutoNation, I was requested to bring my 2010 Hyundai Tucson in to replace a part involving my ‘brakes.’ I’m the original owner, since 2021 my brakes would grind at least twice weekly and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to stop! Then, the AntiLock Brake System lights would just pop up out of nowhere and come on, then my brakes would work. So, I was told I needed a new switch. AutoNation never let me explain any of this, they cut me off anytime I tried to explain it. So, last January 2024, the switch was fixed. I’d prefer NOT to go back there again!! It hasn’t been inspected by anyone. NHTSA may inspect it as soon as you would like. Except now, my ABS lights are basically stuck on. This started back again June 2024. No grinding of my brakes now, I just want them fixed properly.

Despite proper maintenance, at 100k miles the engine started knocking aggressively and the dealership advised me not to drive it or it would throw a rod in the very near future. It started burning oil around 80k miles. This is the Limited model with the gamma engine that was not included in the recalls of the other Tuscon engine, but seems to have the same problem.
