Around 80K miles, the oil consumption really started to become an issue and I took it to a few repair shops and no one could figure out what the problem was even though the car was consuming oil faster than it should have been. It wasn’t leaking, it wasn’t burning off, it was just using oil somewhere in the car. I checked the oil weekly and topped off if needed. I was driving down the interstate when the car completely lost power and would not accelerate, putting me, my family, and other drivers in serious danger as the normal speed for the interstate is 70 mph and I was surrounded by other vehicles who essentially had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting us. After pulling off the road, I checked the oil and it was not even reading on the dipstick even though I had just filled it the previous day! There were no signs that anything was wrong prior to this; neither the oil lamp nor the check engine light came on. Now there is a loud rod knocking in the engine - AND the check engine light is still not on. The engine now needs to be fully replaced. All other 2017 Tuscon models have an engine recall, except this one, and I believe that is a gross mistake. This issue clearly falls in the same issues that has caused a recall on the other models.

Traveling on the highway and the engine decelerated, oil pressure light came on briefly and then went off. The engine light went on. Was not able to accelerate past 50 mph. The car was hesitating and shaking. Had to change lanes and drive a distance to get to safe place. Engine starting knocking and got worse the longer it was driven. Was a safety risk as unable to go any faster than 50 miles per hour and hard to steer with car shaking. Car has 79,384 miles on it. Dealership states engine failure and that engine needs to be replaced. Car had burned up almost all the oil that had been replaced two months prior. Hyundai currently has a recall for this exact problem with their 2017 Tucson’s

Daughter had the car 2 months and went on a weekend trip. Three hours into the trip her tucson started to make a load noise. She pulled into a shop and had them check the oil but as soon as he started the car he refused to look any further and told her to take it to a dealer around the corner. As soon as she pulled in the mechanic said it sounded like a blowen motor. Now 2 months later still no car because hyundai would not return and claim reports and the dealer i bought it from thinks they should fix it because he has talked to local dealers and the agree. The local machanic took a look at it and said it blow a rod. From what i've found out that this is a common issue. There are no recalls for this vehicle. the car has about 95000 miles on it.

The vehicle started exhibiting symptoms of oil consumption in February 2022 and I had it into the dealer because I thought there was a leak but there was lack of power and the car seemed like it wanted to fail. After months of adding oil due to the excessive consumption, it just stalled and died in February 2023. I received an extended warranty for 150,000 miles on the engine and the dealer denied my claim and placed blame on me because there was sludge in the engine, lack of maintenance records even though I provided thorough maintenance records.

Engine was burning oil and depleted all of the oil before oil change was due. There were no warning lights to indicate low oil pressure and car stopped accelerating properly almost causing us to be hit when pulling out into traffic. Vehicle has continued to burn oil and has to be checked constantly and oil added or the problem will reoccur

- #11519054April 26, 2023VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
On at least six occasions since I took possession of this Hyundai vehicle the vehicle has been automatically slowed down accompanied by a "25 mph speed limit" sensor light coming on - and most of these instances could be dangerous because they were not in low-speed zones. This has happened in low-speed zones or near those, in particular on/near a college campus that I drive through or near, but several times this happened when I was in a 35, 45, or 55 mph zone. In fact, yesterday around 6 p.m., after starting the car a minute earlier I pulled out of a driveway onto a rural highway (55 mph) and the car slowed immediately and that warning came on and it did not go off until I shut the car off about 5 minutes later. This was nowhere near a low-speed zone, it was several miles from one. When this has happened in higher speed zones the only thing that makes sense sometimes is to try and "override" the setting by putting the accelerator to the floor, but that isn't ideal as I have discovered, because while it will eventually override the sensor it also causes the car to rocket once it does. Besides that, the car can be shut down and that seems to reset the sensor as well, but sometimes you can't just pull over and restart.

Engine is burning oil, car dealership has confirmed the engine is in fact burning oil and that I do need a new engine. Oil consumption test has been completed, and I was told to check my oil daily and to add oil. Hyundai will not approve an engine replacement. There are no lights or warnings at all.

My Hyundai Tucson beginning at 65,000 miles Began consuming more oil than normal. There was a transfer of title through a family member with the vehicle and was not aware that in that case the cars 100,000 mile warranty is no longer valid. It is then reduced to half that or 60,000, one of the 2. I brought the fact up to the service rep at Hyundai that it was going through a lot of oil and they stated that it was normal with multiple cars that Hyundai produced. The oil was burning off and no detection of leak and no check engine light has ever came on. It never over heated. I then brought this up to Hyundai at about 92,000 miles and thats when I learned about the warranty being voided because of the transfer. The car at the time is running just fine but still burning oil and still nothing from the dealership about any issues because the check engine light never came on. Until I was going home one day and the car began to stutter and losing power . It was struggling to produce power and I finally pulled over to a safe spot. It did not wanna start after that. I had it towed to Hyundai service center and they later told me that my engine needed a fuel system flush. They did that and I drove it just fine for about a month. Then it did the same thing only this time the check engine light finally came on. The code was giving them a misfire of 2 cylinders and was not holding enough pressure. They then said my motor was gonna need to be replaced and that threw me off. I feel like that should have been detected much earlier but without any sign of overheating or engine alarms it just kept running up until that point of the motor no longer running. I feel that if I were to get some kind of check engine light earlier in then it is possibly that this could have been avoided. I feel like this issue remains and is well overlooked to many of their vehicles. I just need a new engine not looking for money or anything else, just a car that is reliable and safe.

I purchased a new vehicle in February 2023. After a month and a half, I traveled to Washington DC on a pleasure trip. After my work/vacation trip when I am returning back to home all of the sudden, there was heavy smoke from the hood and eventually tried to turn off the engine but the car didn't respond, and when I tried to open the Hood in order to cool down the engine I see fire already in the engine. So, there was no intimation on the dashboard about the fire or not even an alert. Moreover, the engine didn't turn off even after trying to turn it off 4- 5 times. I was really worried about what would happen if the door locks stops working

I bought a 2023 Tucson SEL from Rohrman Auto in Lafayette, Indiana It had a major drive train failure from the factory This is Failure #1 and should have been caught at the factory upon inspections I did not want to buy a vehicle from Rohrman that had a problem This is Failure #2 as the dealer admitted that they should have caught this defect in their inspections before they sold it It took me over a week to get the dealer interested in the problem. I do not want this defective car. This is Failure #3 as the dealer has pushed the resolution of this problem on me and is generally unresponsive to my direct, clear, and respectful requests I made a case with Hyundai Customer service (Case # 21183458) requesting the same. This is Failure #4 as the customer service system seems to be broken, and left me stuck between a staff turnover problem there —> As you can clearly see, HMUSA's manufacturing and quality checks failures have been compounded by customer service failures by both the ROHRMAN and HMUSA that now leaving me stuck with a major problem. I simply want a new, defect free Tucson SEL in Amazon Green or Sea Blue. You can have this defective vehicle back.

Sudden loss of power and speed on freeway traveling at 75 mph almost caused a rear end collision by tailgating semi. Pulled over onto shoulder with engine shaking and bucking and luckily limped off nearby exit. Engine control system error popped up. Engine would barely start and stall quickly and eventually would not restart at all. This is the cars second sudden power loss and engine problem at speed since. Not acceptable for a brand new car.

Engine lost power. The vehicle was brought in 3 times since 10/22 to Atlantic Hyundai in. The last time was 3/23. The motor was finally evaluated and results sent to Hyundai Corporate Headquarters and the told Atlantic to replace the motor. Service manager Tim Turnbull refused to do so and stated he was putting in a chip in, for us to drive it for 30 days and bring it back in for evaluation. The motor is unsafe.
