Well when I got the car everything was good until after a few days later after taking car off the lot. I noticed a stiff feeling when turning the steering wheel. Then came time for maintenance. I brought it up to a honda person at the maintenance office when checking in for maintenance before but all I would get told is they will take a look at it. Once my maintenance was done they would just tell me they did not find anything wrong with the steering rack. I stopped taking my car there for maintenance ever since then since basically they did not want to do any repairs. I have not been home at the residential address that shows on my records for quite some time I am away from home, no form of communication. So I am just finding out that this car has a recall on an issue that I think it has to do with what I would bring up to honda maintenance office employees before.

At highway speeds (about 50-75+ mph), the car's steering becomes sticky and requires a moderately greater-than-normal amount of force to make small adjustments, often leading to slight over-corrections. It feels as though the power steering or related components are causing the steering to stiffen, but I am unsure. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or anyone else yet. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms have appeared prior to experiencing this issue. I feel that this issue is putting my and my family's safety at risk. It causes unsafe driving conditions, especially during heavy traffic. On several occasions, the over-corrections have led to close encounters with other vehicles, nearly causing an accident.

At highway speeds the steering sticks or hangs up. This car has an early version of electronically assisted steering and research shows Honda has recalled some models for this issue ... but not my VIN. That doesn't make sense. Honda tells me that recalls are based on manufacturing facility which doesn't make sense on a safety issue. So, when driving at highway speeds, the steering will stick, pulling to the left. I have to pull it back to the right to correct this. The result is that I am basically weaving down the road, appearing not to be able to hold my line. It is certainly a safety issue to the point that I won't let others drive the vehicle. I don't understand why Honda has repaired this issue on some vehicles but not all. I want there to be a record of this in case of the worst case scenario. The car has about 72,000 miles now and the problem started at about 55,000 miles. I have contacted Honda several times to no avail. They say there is no recourse through Honda.

About three weeks ago, I started noticing the steering becoming "sticky," taking more effort than usual to begin to turn the wheel, especially noticeable when making small steering corrections at higher speeds. And once the additional effort is applied, there is a slight jerk of the steering wheel in the direction the effort is being applied, almost feeling as if there were "notches" into which some steering component was falling, and that a bit of effort moves it from one notch into the next one. Even though the problem only began exhibiting a few weeks ago, it is noticeably worse today. It seems like some steering component is failing pretty quickly, and I am worried it could very soon become a safety issue, as the pressure required to move the wheel from one "notch" to the next has been growing.

There is a recall on my vehicle and I contacted Honda on April 1, 2024 to get the car repaired but was told there were no parts to repair the car. I tried to call back to schedule an appointment over 2 months later to remedy the recall but the dealership still does not have a solution or parts. This is unacceptable as it is unsafe to continue to drive the vehicle like this.

ABS Control Module leads fell off. The 2012 Honda Civic has a sealed ABS/VSA control module. This module has leads connected with rigid solid core cables that are known to disconnect and fall off due to natural heat and vibration. This happened with my vehicle. The vehicle lost acceleration, power steering, dash lights, and power breaking on the highway. When I attempted to restart it all of my lights came on: charging system, VSA, ABS, Power Steering, and Power Breaking. When making a left turn/curving left or even driving straight on the highway the steering wheel is sticking and or gets stuck turning left. To get out of the stuck portion of the steering wheel requires extra force that feels very unsafe as it pops or jolts. This is very unsafe because while in a left turn when the steering gets stuck instead of naturally straightening, an overcorrection in steering is made when it pops/jolts out of the sticky spots. This a constant issue having to fight the steering wheel driving straight down the freeway, and is quite scary during or coming out of a left turn. When parked or not moving the problem still occurs. My safety and others is put at risk when the sub average driver is unable to make the proper adjustments when the steering gets stuck causing me or whomever driving this car to veer into whatever the steering wheel is stuck pointing at. The problem has been reproduced. NO warning lamps or messages have appeared. I recall this starting about 6 months ago.

The IMA inverter system keeps malfunctioning without any clear reasons, and the car is in drive mode, which makes the electric motor unresponsive. Additionally, the braking system also malfunctions, leading to a lack of control over the vehicle. I have tried to repair it multiple times, but to no avail. It keeps malfunctioning without any apparent reason.

The steering tends to stick when driving at highway speeds. This issue makes small steering movements jerky and causes over corrections. The dealership stated they were not able to duplicate it. This is a known issue for this generation.
