There is a wide majority of Honda owners with cars ranging from 2016-2022 all reporting the same issue of steering sticking resulting in overcorrecting and crashing your car. My 2019 civic today tried to kill me by locking the steering while driving down the highway with a construction wall that the car jerked into. The dealer responded to a request for information about this issue by telling me it will be a $200 diagnostic fee before I can the told anything and that recalls are all they can talk to me about without the fee. This issue is well documented here This is a dangerous car. Please help! See: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Power Steering suddenly failed after I stopped for a stop sign. The EPS light was not on prior to stopping but came on after the steering failed. Managed to get to the nearest Honda Dealer and was told they wouldn't touch it. Managed to get to a local repair shop who looked up the issue and reset some code(s). They told me it could happen again at any time. This is an extremely dangerous problem that could cause serious damage or death if it occurred while driving. I can't understand why Honda hasn't figured out a solution and issued a recall.

There is an issue with the steering in my 2018 Honda Civic. The vehicle is available to be inspected as long as it won’t cost me anything. My steering wheel sticks after driving and the engine has a change to get warm. It seems to stick slight off center and I cannot drive straight or make the minute adjustments needed to maintain my lane. Once I go over 25 mph and the sticking begins I have to constantly over compensate to stay in my lane. This issue has made it nearly impossible to stay in my lane while driving, could cause a crash this putting myself, my child, and anyone on the road in danger. I have not been able to bring my car to a dealership to replicate the issue or to evaluate it because I can’t afford the cost of that. The car has not been inspected by any third party. There are no warning lights or messages.

Passenger airbag deployed with no impact, crash, or anything forceful to have activated it. Passenger airbag cracked windshield glass and injured passenger. An airbag issue was not included in any recall notification from manufacturer in the past year(s). No warning lamps appeared before the incident, which put my safety and the passengers safety at risk. I reported this to my insurance and have opened a claim. Insurance has been in contact with dealer/manufacturer and is currently under investigation.

On six different occasions beginning at the end of June 2024, my daughter has been driving to work in above 100 degree temps, sometimes 110+, and her a/c stops blowing. She has stopped the vehicle to turn off the ignition and restart, but it does not work. Her commute to work then becomes extremely unsafe in the AZ heat and she has been completely soaked with sweat and dizzy upon arrival until she can get hydrated. I am deeply concerned and have an appointment with Honda Superstition Springs, Mesa, AZ tomorrow 7/3/2024. I hope they can find the issue.

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while their son was driving in a parking garage at approximately 3 - 4 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the driver had to use excessive force to regain control of the vehicle. The contact stated that there was an abnormal rumbling sound coming from the steering wheel. The air bag warning light was illuminated and other functions on the steering wheel became inoperable, including the horn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the cable reel was fractured and was interfering with the steering controls of the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,500.

The steering system on our 2019 Honda Civic "sticks" when operating the car. When driving on the interstate, even a small adjustment to stay in one's lane requires a significant force. This causes the car to over-correct once the steering breaks free. At times the force is so high that the lane keeping assist system (LKAS) feature is unable to provide the necessary force to make the correction. Also, when at high speed going around a curve (like on a flyover ramp going from one interstate to another), the wheel is very difficult to move. Typically, a car's steering will tend to move back towards driving straight. This tendency doesn't happen at all. If I don't return the car to straight with significant force, the car will continue the curve and would eventually drive off the road. The steering has been inspected by Honda technicians and they recommend replacing steering gearbox and tie rods. The car has 65,000 miles on it and replacing the steering at this age seems irregular. While I have the latest date I drove the car listed, this is a persistent problem and has been an issue for several months.

My car is not starting properly due to the recall. I reached out to my dealership and they basically told me there is nothing they can do due to the part being on recall. I am a single mother to a [XXX] daughter and with this being my only form of transportation I cannot afford to get a new vehicle or miss work due to not having a vehicle. I am worried my car will stall in the middle of the road with my daughter in it. I am upset the dealership told me there is nothing they can do when it is primary not my fault there is a recall or parts. I understand but this is unfair to costumers for the company not having back up plans in this type of situations. I cannot continue paying for a car that is broken that is out of my control. Is there a different route we can take for this issue ? A replacement ? A refund ? Anything. I don’t mean to be rude. Just very frustrated and upset. At higher speeds, the steering wheel sticks when trying to maintain in a lane. You have to apply a little extra pressure to get the steering wheel to unstick and this causes the vehicle to swerve.

I have scheduled and attended several appointments to have my fuel pump replaced as per the recall. The only dealership that is within 20 miles of my home (El Paso Honda 1490 Lee Trevino, 79936) keeps refusing to do the replacement. I have expressed that my engine is losing power when going uphill and when driving on I-10. They refuse because the check engine light isn't on. This recall has been in effect since last year and the dealership keeps blaming Honda stating they cannot order the part unless the check engine light is on.

While I was driving on the highway, my vehicle stopped accelerating. It allowed me to coast. When stopped, it would hesitate before accelerating, and making a whining noise. I stopped driving my car and made an appointment to my auto shop. On the way to the auto-shop, the vehicle stopped accelerating altogether. No warning lights ever turned on, and my car was otherwise in very good health. It simply stopped accelerating. I was lucky to be able to coast onto the shoulder, in light traffic.

After hitting around 10,000 miles, my 2022 Honda Civic began having a noticeable steering issue. The wheel sticks and jerks while driving straight and requires constant corrections, made difficult by the steering quality. This issue is present during lower speeds (particularly stop and go traffic), but is particularly bad at higher speeds (50+ mph). A wheel alignment made the steering feel temporarily less jerky for about 24 hours, but the problem has returned and steering continues to be an issue.

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Civic equipped with Continental Tires, Tire Line: ProContact TX, Tire Size: 215/50/R17, DOT Number: [XXX] . While the contact's daughter was outside of the vehicle, she discovered a large bubble on the front driver’s side tire. The contact was notified of the failure and instructed her daughter to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the tire was replaced with the spare tire. The contact initially notified the tire manufacturer about the failure and was informed that the failure might be related to a vehicle defect and referred the contact to a Honda dealer. The dealer was notified of the failure and declined responsibility for the failure. The manufacturer was called and referred the contact to an independent tire dealer that specializes in servicing Continental tires. The independent mechanic worked with the Continental manufacturer and offered the contact a replacement tire at 50% off. The tire was replaced. The tire and vehicle failure mileage were unknown. Steering wheel is ongoing stiff and jerky when going above 45mph. It has been almost two years of dealing with it. We have tried troubleshooting but it seems to be a common issue as well as AC system keeps failing. We are repairing for 2nd time within a year and half. While AC failure isn't a safety issue the faulty steering is. It makes car hard to control and can cause an accident because minor adjustments can't be made while driving. There dozens of complaints besides mine.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic GX compressed natural gas vehicle. The problem with the vehicle is the compressed natural gas cylinder that holds the fuel. The cylinders are only certified for a period of time 15 or 20 years. After that the cylinders are considered expired and must be replaced. Once they are expired, they cannot be recertified. The problem I encountered is a complete lack of knowledge of proper maintenance procedures even by Honda dealers that are certified to work on natural gas vehicles (NGV). See Honda Service Bulletin 06-015 1998-2015 Civic GX All and US Dept of Energy, Alternative Fuels Data Center - CNG Fuel System and Tank Maintenance. From the time I bought the vehicle in 2006 until 2024 I regularly took it to a certified Honda NGV service dealer. At no time did they perform any required NGV safety checks. My issue is that there may be many of these vehicles on the roads still that pose a real safety risk to the owner and public if the NGV fuel systems have not been properly maintained. I brought this safety issue up to the Honda dealer and Honda Motor Company and both declined to take any measures to alert current NGV owners or Honda certified NGV service dealers. If expired cylinders are still in service, they are at risk of exploding and causing significant damage and injury.
