When making a left turn or curving left the steering wheel is sticking. If not slightly jerked then the steering wheel will remain in the left position. When holding the break, not in park, and turn the steering wheel you can hear a pop- the sticky releasing. It is unsafe. I have confirmed (and found this website) through reddit and [XXX] , many others with this generation car are having the same problem. Car has 75,000 miles on it, this began around 50,000. For several weeks, I have noticed while driving, the steering feels like it is sticking and catching. It feels as though the steering locks into place which causes an issue with trying to control the steering as well as issues with turning the wheel while driving the vehicle. This is a major safety concern. I took the vehicle to Buckeye Honda located at 2615 N Memorial Drive Lancaster, OH on [XXX] regarding my concerns. Keith Vanatter a technician at Buckeye Honda test drove my car and verified my concerns of a sticking steering wheel and recommended a replacement of the rack and pinion. A service advisor at Buckeye Honda named Jacob Lang informed me after the tech verified the issue with my vehicle that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced at a cost including parts and labor of $2798.57 because my vehicle is out of warranty since it has over 36,000 miles on it. I was highly upset over this and informed the service advisor that the car is a 2022 model and I purchased it brand new in 2022 and should not be having this kind of issue with the steering. I informed Mr. Lang that Honda should be responsible to fix the issue at no cost since there are open recalls and numerous reports which Mr. Lang verified of 2022 Honda Civic car owners having the same issue that mine is having and he advised that my car did not show a recall per the vin. Mr. Lang advised me to call Honda America and speak with them to see if they could do something about getting this fixed or meeting me half way on the cost, Honda America advised no since no recall information pertains to my vin. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed the steering failure was causing premature wear on the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the EPS steering rack needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. Steering wheel 'sticks' or requires greater force applied to move the wheel while traveling highway speeds making small adjustments to steering causing overcorrections to steering to counteract the issue. This creates an unsafe and unpredictable driving situation. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership who is 'unable to reproduce' the issue on short tests. The issue only presents after the car has been driven at highway speeds. There are no warning lamps indicating any issues.

Steering get sticky and jerky after driving for 15-20 minutes. The steering wheel seems to get stuck for a second and then trying to slightly correct, jerks the vehicle around in the lane. It feels like there are notches in the steering. This is a safety issue because you could overcorrect and get jerked into another lane of traffic. No warning lamps. The issues started just under 50,000 miles.

- #11574521February 28, 2024AIR BAGS
In a Walmart parking lot I bumped into a curb stone with the left front tire at low speed (5 mph?). The passanger side air bag went off and blew out the windhield. I do not believe the air bag should have deployed at such a low speed. There was no damage to the car body. Total cost for replacing the air bag, windshield and both front seat belts was around $3,500.

After driving for anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour, the steering wheel becomes “sticky” in certain positions, prohibiting me from making fine adjustments at high speeds (50mph+) I’ve noticed this issue over a year ago. It interfered with highway driving but was livable. However a couple days ago this issue became amplified and the stickiness has become a lot more exaggerated. This has caused much worse over correction while steering. Issue has become so bad that it is now a major safety concern for me. Vehicles is difficult to control on the highway and results in the car swerving due to the overcorrection jerks from the sticky steering wheel.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to complete a turn, the steering wheel required to be manually returned to the center. The contact also became aware that the vehicle failed to unlock using the keyless entry system. Upon entering the vehicle, the instrument panel indicated that the rear passenger’s side seat was occupied, even though there was no one seated in the seat. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that various wires within the wiring harness were disconnected. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 59,000.

Steering feels "notchy", especially at highway speeds. Steering wheel feels very on-center and requires extra effort to move it from the center position.

My 2023 Honda Civic Touring steering will stick and cause a momentary increase in steering effort to compensate for the sticky steering. This occurs at highway speeds which adds to my concerns. I understand the NHTSA has been investigating this occurrence and would like to make it known that my model and VIN # are experiencing this issue. My automobile currently has 3,000 miles on it.

The electric power steering is sticking when you turn the wheel slightly. My local dealership failed to fix the recall on my vehicle and labeled it as fixed, when they simply verified the recall matched serial numbers on my car and did not fix the issue.
