I’ve inserted the question and their answer: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Lifter valve number six failed causing it to shatter and send pieces of it throughout the engine along with other debris into the cylinders. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Vehicle had loud engine knock, pulsation of power, had to pull off on main highways due to loss of power over 400 miles away from home. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, engine was serviced by GM dealership in Baldwinsville, NY for over $8,500. Will attach copy of bill. Now is doing same thing, again. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? GM as stated above. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Check engine light flashed, traction control light came on.

Noticeable ticking from the motor, loss of power while driving and smoking. Took to dealership to for repairs. Lifters replaced on one side, within 30 miles after leaving dealership vehicle lost power and would not crank. Per dealership same issue with spun bearing and crankshaft. New lifters and crankshaft placed. While driving 3 weeks later vehicle shifted into neutral and lost power and hand to coast to side of the road. The engine failed while driving. Dealership reviewed the issue and a new engine had to be installed to replace the defective motor. It failed due to a camshaft/lifter failure. After talking with the dealership, this appears to be a common failure in the 6.2L motors. It resulted in a bill in excess of $12,000 to repair. Similar to recall N252494000, the 6.2L motor has defective components causing premature failure that should be recalled.

I was driving on a highway with my [XXX] son and 2 dogs when without any warning the vehicle just stopped and completely went dead. I was unable to turn on the hazards so I called 911, the police came within minutes and surrounded the vehicle to keep us from being crashed into. The brakes failed to work, the hazard lights would not work, the doors would not open other than the driver door. The police had to help remove my child and 2 dogs from the vehicle through the driver door. The vehicle could not be put into neutral so the police had to tow the vehicle from the middle of the highway. The result could have been deadly. The vehicle was completely dead with absolutely no function. After the police towed it to the police tow facility it was then towed to the GMC dealership I purchased the vehicle from. The dealership is Jim Curly GMC in Keyport NJ. The dealership has had the vehicle since Saturday and is claiming to not know what is wrong with the vehicle. My vehicle is equipped with a 6.2L L87 engine. I have taken this to the gmc dealership in complaint of non consistent power of the engine and a vibration of the engine. The dealership believes it was the brakes and they were replaced along with the rotors. The problem still persists I feel after reading the stories of how other engines have failed that are L87, this is a similar problem but not covered under the recent recall.

My wife and I were going 70 plus MPh on [XXX] in Georgia in the far left lane. Our car completely lost power were had to maneuver across 2 Lanes to get to the emergency lane it was very scary traffic was blowing horns and it was awful. We made it to the emergency lane and proceeded north at a creeping pace with engine making lots of noise. We made it to a hotel next to [XXX] we were in Savannah Georgia. We tried to contact the local GMC dealer but it was after hours so we stayed the night and next morning got a tow to Critz GMC. At Critz we were Informed our engine was beyond repair and needed replacement. They proceeded to offer me $10,000 on a trade in, said it would take 3 months to get a replacement engine so I called my dealer back home White Motors Roanoke Rapids NC and they advised it would take several months to get a new eng and they couldn't tow me in so I called David Towing and they said they would come get it for me in the next week. We to Enterprise to rent a car and there were none available for a week I decided to buy a new car from Critz to get home . I am the owner of a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2L V8 engine (VIN: [XXX] ). This vehicle has exhibited multiple serious issues affecting safety, drivability, and reliability. 1. Engine Noise & Oil Consumption: Since purchase, the vehicle has had a persistent loud knocking/tapping sound, especially under acceleration. The engine also consumes an excessive amount of oil between scheduled oil changes, with no visible leaks. I reported this to the dealership multiple times, but since there is no active recall or TSB, they refused to diagnose or repair the issue under warranty. I have since learned that many other 2021 Yukon Denali owners with the same 6.2L engine are experiencing similar issues and some have had repairs or engine replacements covered by GM. I have received no such support. 2. Braking Problems: The vehicle has ongoing brake performance issues. Despite replacing the brake components multiple times, the brakes feel inconsistent and unsafe, especially during highway driving or sudden stops. There is vibration and uneven response, and the braking system does not inspire confidence. These problems have persisted despite attempts to correct them. 3. Suspension/Handling Concerns: The suspension feels unstable and loose, especially at highway speeds or when turning. The ride quality is poor, and there is noticeable sway and body roll, which creates discomfort and concern for vehicle control. 4. Fuel/Propulsion System: The engine does not always respond smoothly to throttle input. I’ve noticed occasional hesitation or surging, which may be related to the previously mentioned oil consumption or fuel delivery. Again, the dealership has been unable or unwilling to resolve these issues without charging diagnostic fees. I’ve reported these issues to my local GMC dealer on multiple occasions, but no lasting solution has been provided, and I have not been able to afford expensive diagnostic costs out of pocket—especially for a vehicle of this price INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle started shaking excessively and then lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the lifters and camshaft, resulting in damages to the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 75,000.

While driving at approximately 30 mph in moderate traffic on the interstate during a return leg of a 370-mile trip, my vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and became unresponsive. The dashboard displayed the warning message: "condition not correct for shift," and despite repeated attempts to restart the engine, the vehicle would not engage. Although the electrical system remained active, I had no propulsion. Critically, the vehicle became immobilized in a **very dangerous curve on the interstate**, presenting an extreme safety risk to myself and others. The car could not be manually shifted into neutral for towing, prompting Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to declare the location unsafe. I was stranded there for over three hours, after dark, in a vulnerable and exposed position. During the forced tow process, two rear tires were destroyed and the two front tires sustained major damage. In the days leading up to this incident, the vehicle had also shown signs of malfunction, such as delayed acceleration from a stop and occasional lurching forward — symptoms consistent with the defect described in the recall.
