Complete engine failure and lock up driving 70MPH. I was very lucky to not wreck the vehicle when this occurred with my family of 5 present. Had towed to the dealership and diagnostics performed. Diagnostics confirmed crankshaft issue and complete engine failure requiring engine replacement. I was informed that this was the same issue that is under current recall, but the 5.3L is not part of it. This is the same crankshaft issue that has been recalled in over 700K 6.2L GM motors. I am being told that the 5.3L engine is not covered under the recall and i am 100% responsible for all costs related. I want this 5.3L issue reported and documented to help extend the recall to the 5.3L engines in the future

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there were two loud pops followed by an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine compartment, before the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the connecting rod bearings. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The VIN was included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Nothing has yet failed, but my engine has consumed oil but is apparently within the GM standard of less than 1 quart in 2,000 miles. My vehicle is also involved in the GM loss of engine propulsion recall that I was notified of on 4/24, but a remedy for my vin is still not available. How can something that could lead to loss of engine function take this long to remedy?

10 speed transmission It’s been at the dealer for a month and they checked it today. Same issues as the mass recall Dash alert for reduced speed drive with caution. It was extremely dangerous because it malfunctioned on curvy winding roads

Driving and pulling up into my driveway when suddenly the message “push start button to start engine” comes on with an alert sound - I notice my gear is lighting up “N” and when I pushed the start button it sounded like my engine restarted. I remained in neutral and had to change it back to drive myself. The engine randomly cut off

It has been several months since recall on L87 was issued. My truck now has over 44k miles and I’ve contacted the dealer, they note there’s no fix in sight. I’ve been having some issues with engine sluggishness on acceleration at times and I’m concerned this is related to the recall. I’m now stuck with this potentially dangerous vehicle with no fix, and am concerned. I also can’t get a fiar trade in value due to open recall. Overall, I’m stuck with a defective vehicle that GM refuses to address.

Been working with dealership on engine performance for a year, recall is delayed because of no available parts. I had bought a warranty that replaced the lifters and cam. Also this year the transmission, radiator, pully and belt were all replaced. Engine blew up last night and is back at dealership. I paid $80,000 for this vehicle and have had major issue after major issue with it. Looking into seeing if it qualifies as a lemon. Lucky was going slow when it happened and it didn't cause an accident. Could not get the vehicle into neutral to tow it.

Vehicle: 2021 GMC Yukon XL VIN: [XXX] Recall ID: 25V274 (GM Recall N25249400) Mileage: Approx. 35,000 My 2021 GMC Yukon XL was recalled for a potential engine defect. On June 9, 2025, the dealership (Carol Buick GMC in Florida) determined that my vehicle was unsafe to drive and that the engine needed to be replaced under GM Recall N25249400. GM has not delivered a timely fix. The engine remains on national backorder, and as of July 31, 2025, the vehicle has been out of service for over 6 weeks. I was provided a loaner vehicle, but my own vehicle remains undrivable, and no repair ETA has been provided. GM opened two internal case numbers (#[XXX] and #[XXX]), but despite repeated follow-ups, I have received no estimated return date or formal remedy timeline. I believe this delay violates the federal requirement to provide a timely recall remedy under NHTSA regulations, and I am requesting an investigation or compliance review of GM's handling of this recall. I have had two incidents. The vehicle is hesitant. It’s spudders, it stalls. You can hear it in the engine at idle and especially at cold start.

My vehicle’s engine failed for the second time while driving on the road. The first time a few months ago while my wife was driving. The engine failed and brakes failed. Fortunately she was on a back road a coasted to a stop. Car was towed to dealership. They said there was no problem. Received recall letter about a month ago outlining this issue. Yesterday, [XXX], I was driving with my daughter and the car stopped again while driving. I was in traffic and narrowly missed an accident. Gwinnett county police came to the scene and towed the vehicle to the dealership. I am not sure if the female officer made a report. But she requested the tow truck because I was blocking traffic. We often drive on the highway for work commutes. This could have happened and anyone in my family could have been fatally injured. I would like GMC purchase this vehicle back or replace with a safer model comparable or better. The service department called me this morning from Jim Ellis GMC in Buford, Georgia 678-902-8677, 3600 Buford Drive 30519.I was told that there is no recall for my truck. He told me that there is a safety investigation for a recall. I told him I can bring the letter. He decline. I asked for a courtesy vehicle. He said no, he would have to make a report and it would be up to 48 hours. Once it’s reviewed , then I could go to enterprise car rental to pick up a car. Maybe. The first time Rick Hendrick GMC Duluth , Ga 470-822-3779, 3344 Commerce Ave, Duluth, ga had my truck for about 2 weeks. No fix. No courtesy vehicle or rental. Now I’m without my vehicle for unlimited time. The Jim Elis tech, did acknowledge that there is no fix for what is going on. The local GMC dealers are not making this easy or putting the safety of its customers as a priority. These trucks are NOT safe on the road. This truck cost nearly $100,000 and it is not safe to drive.GMC has a record of the 1st service incident and this latest just happened yesterday. GM issued a recall, N25249000 after hundreds if not thousands of complaints of catastrophic engine failure. My engine was impacted. It failed Sunday, [XXX]. I limped it to Mike Marroone dealership in Longmont, CO, on August 5th. That afternoon they confirmed my engine and various other components needed to be replaced. At this time GM was flooded with recalls and the whereabouts of all necessary parts were unknown and could not be tracked. It was so bad that the dealer could give no timeline as they had 5 vehicles waiting for engines. They also were replacing engines, and the replacement engine would fail immediately. Without notice, an engine and parts arrived after 3 painful weeks of sitting in the unknown. The vehicle was returned to me on August 23nd, 2024, 19 days after I dropped it off. During this time I was paying $977.50 for a car payment plus $130 for insurance per month. I had to pay this despite not having use of the vehicle for a recall that GM knew about but didn't do anything until it garnered national attention. The following is my response to the proposed warranty coverage for GM recall N25249400 and NHTSA recall 25V274: Based on the above information provided, I am requesting the 10 year warranty and 150,000 mile warranty be effective from the date the vehicle was returned to me on August 23rd, 2024. Additionally, I am requesting a check in the amount of $1,106.50 for payments directly associated with a vehicle that was not able to be used due to GM's failure. The valve body failed on 6/4/25. This caused the car to have a sudden jerk and then suddenly decelerate while driving with my children in the vehicle. It could have caused an accident if another vehicle had been following behind. The vehicle has been at the local GMC dealership for repair for almost 8 weeks now, and is available for inspection by 3rd party upon request. The same part failure has been found in the 2019-2022 models. There was no warning to this happening to my vehicle, just a sudden jerk and deceleration. After it occurred the check engine light came on.

the coolant control valve failed, and now its been in the dealership for over a month. I have been reading online that this is not an isolated issue, and many people experience months of wait time getting the part because its apparently nationally backordered because of this problem.
