SummarySome 2021 Mustang Mach-E and F-150 customers may report experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass. In addition, some technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) or telematics control unit (TCU) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. It may also be observed on the PTS - Over The Air (OTA) dashboard that multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, or a no OTA history message is displayed. This may be due to a internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to recover the APIM/TCU.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine and built on or before 31-Jan-2021 may experience an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostics trouble codes (DTCs) P04F0 And/Or P04EE stored in the PCM. This may be due to the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor becoming unseated from it's mount on the evaporative (EVAP) tube that connects to the top of the fuel pump and sender unit, causing an EVAP system leak near the top of the fuel tank. If the sensor is found to be unseated, resecure the sensor by pressing the sensor down vertically and retest. If the concern is resolved, the 9D683 assembly needs to be replaced due to the sensor retainers becoming weak. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-13D. For claiming, use causal part 9D683 and applicable labor operations in Section 09 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2021 F-150/Mustang Mach-E vehicles may display OTA Update Not Successful messages on the vehicle's center touchscreen. Also, when a software update is being performed on the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) using the FDRS, the center touchscreen may not indicate the APIM software is downloading when plugging a USB drive into the vehicle. This may be due to an APIM software concern. Inform customers that Ford is currently working on a solution for this condition that is to be released via the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) in March 2022. Inform the customer that they can continue to drive the vehicle and only need to schedule a follow-up appointment if they are still experiencing the OTA Update Not Successful message in April 2022 or if the APIM is not able to be updated via the FDRS. Monitor OASIS for updates.
