SummarySome 2021-2022 Bronco/F-150/Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility and 2022 Transit vehicles may exhibit harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift concerns. These may be addressed with the powertrain control module (PCM)/transmission control module (TCM) Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine and/or a main control overhaul. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart if DTCs are present and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. Cycling the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination must be performed along with an adaptive drive cycle before attempting repair. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Summary2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

SummarySome 2022 F-150 vehicles not equipped with a trailer brake control module (TBM) may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0137 in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. This may be due to ABS module software. If ABS module DTC U0137 is present and the vehicle is not equipped with a trailer brake module, the DTC should be ignored. If the vehicle is equipped with a TBM and a U0137 is present in the ABS, continue diagnostics in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-10.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit engine misfire concerns with or without DTCs. If diagnostics lead to ignition coil replacement, swap the ignition coil(s) between the misfired cylinder and a known good cylinder. Only replace the ignition coil if the misfire concern follows that particular ignition coil. If the misfire condition does not follow the coil, apply dielectric grease to the boot, reinstall the ignition coil in the original cylinder and continue normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-07C.

SummarySome 2020-2022 F-Super Duty/Explorer/Aviator and 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Front Camera Fault, Lane Keeping Fault, and/or Collison Warning Not Available message with various diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored in the image processing module A (IPMA). If programming fails or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) states a file failed to flash after replacing the IPMA or reprogramming IPMA software, test the battery using any approved Rotunda tool including the GR-190, GRX-3590, and DCA-8000. Fully recharge or replace the battery according to results of the tool. Set the battery charger to maintain battery voltage between 12.6 and 13.6 volts during the entire programming procedure. The IPMA programming procedure may take several hours to complete due to the size of the software files required.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 and Bronco vehicles built with SYNC 4 require a connected phone with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay active to enable voice interactions and use of the steering wheel Voice Control button. This is due to the affected vehicles not having built in voice interactions capability. Vehicles with built in voice interactions capability can be identified as also being equipped with the built in Connected Navigation feature which includes a navigation tab on the touchscreen. Diagnostics should only be performed for voice interactions on vehicles equipped with built in voice interaction capability or with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay active.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message displayed that will not clear when DTCs are not present and the vehicle has been road tested to relearn the steering wheel angle center. If this is the case, enable the rear view camera in the touchscreen and note what is seen in the image. The bottom of the image should include most of the rear bumper, but the license plate or the tailgate mounted Ford emblem should not be visible. The rear bumper should also be centered in the image. If the camera is pointing too far downward or is off center, apply some flock tape to adjust the camera angle and resecure the camera while noting the effect on the image. Once the camera image has been corrected, perform the appropriate FDRS camera alignment procedure then verify the Reverse Brake Assist Unavailable message is no longer present.

SummarySome 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with a B And O audio system may exhibit the rear sliding window glass rattling when in the open position music is playing. This may be due to a low amount of tension provided by the rear window glass sliding rail and/or the defroster wire vibrating between the two panes of glass. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in March 2022. Replacement of the rear sliding window assembly will not resolve this condition. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available.
