Summary
Some 2021-2023 F-150 and 2022-2023 F-Super Duty/Expedition/Navigator/Maverick vehicles equipped with an integrated trailer module (iTRM) may exhibit a trailer lamp fault message with various related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). Most trailer emulator testers will not draw enough current to correctly diagnose these concerns. They may be used to diagnose basic functionality of the iTRM, however, some trailer emulator testers may cause false trailer lamp fault messages to appear. The customer's trailer should be used for diagnosis instead of a trailer emulator tester. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01 for normal diagnostics.

Some 2021-2023 F-150/Mustang Mach-E/Edge vehicles may exhibit a concern of Android Auto unable to wirelessly connect and/or Android phones rebooting when connected to the vehicle via USB. This is due to a concern with the Google application on the customers device. Google has released a fix for these concerns. For Android phones not connecting wirelessly, request that the customer update their Android Auto version to 6.1 or later. For customers who's Android phone reboots when connected via USB, request that the customer update their Chrome application to 88.0.4324.181 or later. The customers service provider should be able to assist customers having difficulty updating their device. This is not a warrantable repair.

Some 2020-2023 F-150 and 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a ticking/tapping or rattle type noise from the top front cover area of the engine on initial start-up after a cold soak of 6 hours or more that may last for 2-5 seconds. This may be due to a stuck internal component of the variable cam timing (VCT) unit. To correct the condition, replace all 4 of the VCT units following Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01. For claiming, use causal part 6C525 and applicable labor operations in Section 6 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If labor times are not available, claim M-time.

For 2000-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, swapping a module from a vehicle for diagnosis purposes is likely to cause errors and is not recommended. It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

This may be due to a crankshaft front oil seal leaking due to an out of specification engine front cover seal bore. To correct the condition, replace the engine front cover. These may be addressed with the powertrain control module (PCM)/transmission control module (TCM) Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine and/or a main control overhaul. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart if DTCs are present and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. Cycling the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination must be performed along with an adaptive drive cycle before attempting repair. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with minor feature codes HKRAC (8 inch instrument panel cluster (IPC) screen) and HKCAA (SYNC without navigation) may exhibit a condition where the compass direction indication is stuck or not updating correctly in the IPC. To confirm a vehicle is built with minor feature codes HKRAC and HKCAA, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number in the upper left-hand corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). This may be due to a software concern in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Engineering is currently working on a software update to address this concern. Inform the customer they can continue to drive the vehicle. For 2021 F-150 vehicles exhibiting this concern, perform Technical Service Bulletin 21-2388 and confirm if the concern is still present. Monitor for OASIS for updates.

Summary
Some 2021-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit a condition where the high voltage battery stops charging when connected to level 1 or level 2 chargers with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2C94 stored in the secondary on-board diagnostic control module A (SOBDM). To restore charging capability, disconnect the off-board charging station charge handle from the vehicle charge port and reconnect. This condition does not affect vehicle durability and no additional diagnosis or service is required for this condition at this time. Inform customers that they can continue to drive the vehicle and engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition that is expected in June 2023. Replacement of the SOBDM will not resolve this condition. Monitor OASIS for additional information.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.3L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with DTC P0171 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the software of the PCM. Engineering is currently investigating this concern. To temporarily address this issue, clear the DTC and run the PCM - Reset the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) application in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine may experience a loss of engine coolant with possible engine overheat and/or illuminated malfunction indicator (MIL). This may be due to a crack in the exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots on the top of the exhaust heat exchanger. The exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots are now released and should be serviced in pairs. It is no longer necessary to replace the muffler inlet pipe assembly for this type of concern. Workshop Manual, Section 309-00D has been updated to include a new service procedure. For claiming, use causal part 18663 and applicable labor operations in Section 05 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. Heat exchanger coolant spigots - NL3Z-18663-A (2 req).

Some 2021-2023 F-150, 2021-2023 F-Super Duty, 2021-2023 Ranger customers may have concerns including, but not limited to: no power to the distribution box, rear camera inoperative, rear park assist inoperative, box lights inoperative, power up/down tailgate inoperative, unable to open tailgate by tailgate switch, and no tailgate ajar message when the tailgate is ajar. These concerns may be caused by faulty connections between the pickup bed, tailgate, rear lamp assemblies, or bumper where connectors are disconnected, damaged, or coated with bedliner. Prior to performing any warranty diagnosis or repairs, verify if the vehicle had an aftermarket spray-in-bedliner. Any repairs resulting from aftermarket products/installation, including but not limited to a spray-in bedliner, are not covered under warranty.

Some 2022-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with single exhaust may have various symptoms relating to parking brake, ABS, Traction Control, AdvanceTrac, Park Aid, and/or Locking Differential functionality. Vehicles may also exhibit one or more of the following DTCs in the ABS module: B1111, C1013, C1034, C2005, C2006, C2007, C2008. This condition may be the result of a wiring harness chafing on the left tube of the rear axle. Visually inspect the wiring harnesses in close proximity to the left axle tube, and if damage is found, repair the affected wiring harness following Wiring Diagram Cell 5.

Summary
Some 2017-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmission may exhibit a whine noise at idle and/or while driving. This may be identified as coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. The whine noise may become louder when the transmission is at operating temperature and may increase with engine revolutions per minute (RPM) in the park (P) position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmissions due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability.
