A warning light illuminated as the driver was pulling into a bank parking lot. The vehicle was left running while the driver briefly stepped away to use the ATM. When he returned, he saw smoke coming out of the glove compartment. When the glovebox was opened, an active fire was already burning inside the dash cavity behind it. The fire grew rapidly and resulted in full cabin flashover, destroying the interior, melting wiring, and causing structural damage. The burn pattern clearly shows the fire originated inside the passenger-side dash/glovebox area, not the engine compartment. Photographs taken immediately after the incident show melted and fused copper wiring, arc beads, vaporized insulation, and connectors burned from the inside outward. Harness bundles were burned from the inside out, consistent with electrical arcing. A torch lighter stored in the glovebox did not ignite and played no role in the fire. Chlorine stored in the truck bed is a non-combustible oxidizer and cannot ignite or melt wiring. These facts eliminate external ignition sources. The area behind the glovebox contains multiple electrical components with known failure modes, including the body control module, fuse block, HVAC blower motor resistor, and airbag wiring harness. The warning light appearing shortly before the fire and the fire beginning while the vehicle was left running strongly indicate an internal electrical failure. The manufacturer inspected the vehicle and issued a denial but has refused to release photographs, diagnostic logs, investigator notes, or the third-party report, preventing independent verification of the cause.

My 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, equipped with the 5.3L V8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, intermittently experiences a complete engine stall while the vehicle is still moving. This condition typically occurs following an extended period of driving, during braking and deceleration at approximately 1 to 5 mph. The vehicle locks the emergency brake and the engine stops. This happened in stop/go traffic as well as in my neighborhood. As the vehicle approaches a complete stop, the engine begins to struggle, with noticeable hesitation and a reduction in engine RPM, before shutting off completely. When the engine stalls, the transmission automatically shifts into Neutral, requiring me to restart the engine before I can resume driving. This is not normal automatic engine start/stop operation. The issue occurs even when the automatic start/stop feature has been manually disabled. The engine shuts down unexpectedly without driver input or an intentional shutdown command. The intermittent nature of this malfunction makes it difficult to predict when the vehicle will stall. The unexpected loss of engine power while the vehicle is moving creates a significant safety concern, particularly when braking, turning, entering intersections, or maneuvering in traffic. The vehicle could become temporarily disabled in an active roadway, increasing the risk of a collision. I have identified reports from other owners of 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vehicles describing similar unexpected engine shutdowns during low-speed operation, including instances where the transmission shifts into Neutral and requires an engine restart. The cause of this malfunction has not been determined. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this condition represents a broader safety defect affecting 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vehicles equipped with the 5.3L V8 engine. I am concerned this could happen on the highway or cause an accident. Dealer cannot replicate...

On October 17, 2026, approximately two minutes after driving smoke started to fill the cabin. It appeared to be coming from behind the rear seat area. I pulled over and could not find the source of the smoke so I drove back home and shut the truck off in my driveway. Almost immediately after shutting the truck off the rear glass on either side of the middle sliding window shattered, but stayed in place. The middle sliding window did not shatter. I then called Chevrolet road side service and the vehicle was towed to a dealership.

On XXX, at midday, in the Haggen parking lot in [XXX], I unlocked the passenger door with the silver exterior door button. At that moment the side-view camera display glitched, and afterwards the exterior door buttons stopped working. The key fob and the interior door buttons still worked. Restarting the infotainment system did not fix it, and the passive-unlock setting was not the cause. After I left the truck locked and asleep for about 20 minutes, the buttons and cameras both worked again. I use the side cameras for lane centering while driving. The engine was making a noise which was obviously coming from internally. Chevrolet dealer examined the engine and found metal shavings throughout. Lifter roller was stuck and grinding down the camshaft. The engine was at risk of failure which could have been catastrophic if it occurred while driving . Especially at higher speeds . This could have resulted in a crash.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH with cruise control engaged, the vehicle suddenly lost speed, the check engine warning light started flashing, and the engine started sputtering. The electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control warning lights were also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. Diagnostic trouble codes P0203 and P0303 were retrieved, indicating a fuel injector 3 circuit malfunction and cylinder 3 misfire. The fuel injector wiring circuit was corroded, and the fuel injector on the left bank was replaced. The contact contacted the manufacturer by telephone and was informed that the bumper-to-bumper warranty had expired and that the failure was not covered under the powertrain warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 51,042.

Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L Truck lost acceleration while driving. Truck advised driver to shift to neutral and restart vehicle. When driver did, no resolve. Error code with diagnostic report was immediately emailed to owner with error code of P0016. Mechanic advises truck needs new engine as this is a common issue with this year of truck that was included in a recall. After further investigation, truck vin is NOT included in recall as other GM vehicles (same engine & year). Would like this investigated as this truck should be included with the recall.

Vehicle comes to a stop sign on a low pitch hill. Driver releases the break and presses the gas portal to drive forward and vehicle begins rolling backwards. Driver looks down at the dash and sees a “press start button” message. Driver pressed start button and hears the engine come to life. Driver releases the break and presses the gas pedal to accelerate. Vehicle rolls backwards again. Another message to press start. Driver presses start again. Vehicle is now in park and with the parking break engaged. Driver releases parking break, shifts to drive and is now able to leave the intersection. Issue causes risk of collision due to unexpected rollback. Service appointment schedule for 10/15/26. No warnings presented beyond the start message errors listed above. Newly purchased vehicle: 2026 model year. Appx mileage at time of incident: 122 miles.

On [XXX], at approximately [XXX], I was driving my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST (5.3L V8, 4WD), leased new on [XXX], with about 122 miles on the odometer. I came to a complete stop at a stop sign on an uphill grade at [XXX]. The Auto Stop/Start feature shut the engine off while I held the brake, as designed. When I released the brake to proceed, the engine did not restart, and the truck rolled backward down the grade. The instrument cluster displayed "Press start button." I pressed the start button, the engine started, and I released the brake again. The truck again rolled backward, and the cluster again displayed "Press start button." At this point, the vehicle was in park and with the parking break engaged. I pressed start a second time. I released the parking brake, shifted into Drive, and was finally able to proceed. In total there were 2 failed restarts after an Auto Stop event, 2 uncommanded rollbacks on an incline, and 1 automatic parking brake engagement. No collision occurred. However, the truck rolled backward toward another vehicle behind it with no engine power, and I had to restart it twice while stopped at an intersection. This is a serious safety hazard in traffic, especially on hills. GM has published Preliminary Information bulletin PIT5689N, "No Restart after an Auto Stop Event / No Crank," covering 2020-2026 Silverado 1500 trucks. It cites a loose or broken engine ground strap as a possible cause. This vehicle is 5 days old and the defect appeared within 116 miles of delivery. I am disabling Auto Stop manually at every startup until the vehicle is repaired. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 6.2L Truck was driving and fully lost capability to accelerate. Truck alarmed driver to shift to neutral and restart engine. Attempt to restart engine was not successful. Error code was sent via email in a diagnostic report to owner with code P0016. No check engine lights or alarms were on the dash. Truck is currently at an auto mechanic. Safety issue was leaving driver and passengers stranded. Auto mechanic states truck needs new engine. Tried to verify VIN to the GM recall notice (N252494000) and was told not included in recall, even though truck has same motor listed in recall AND giving the error code. There was no warning messages, lights or symptoms prior to this failure. Request to have this complaint investigated to be included in the recall with the information provided.

**XXX** **FROM:** [XXX] **TO:** General Motors Company, Chevrolet Customer Assistance, GM Financial, and Wallace Chevrolet **RE: FORMAL COMPLAINT AND FINAL REQUEST FOR RESOLUTION — 2023 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 RST ENGINE FAILURE** **Vehicle:** 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST **VIN:** [Insert VIN] **GM Financial Account:** [Insert Account Number] To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter as my formal complaint and final request for assistance regarding the engine failure of my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST. Since XXX, when my truck's engine failed, I have made repeated attempts to resolve this situation with General Motors and Wallace Chevrolet in [XXX]. I have contacted GM, visited the dealership multiple times, and personally spoken with the mechanic who examined my truck. The mechanic informed me that an engine lifter had seized or frozen, resulting in a serious engine failure. I have always properly maintained this vehicle. I have records of oil changes, routine maintenance, and other services. This truck has not been neglected or abused. I am aware of GM's extensive recalls involving hundreds of thousands of vehicles with serious engine defects. I understand that my truck's VIN is not included in the recall population. I have already contacted the legal team handling the related claims and was informed that my vehicle does not qualify. Nevertheless, I believe my truck's engine failure deserves the same serious attention and consideration, even if the underlying mechanical defect is different from the defect covered by those recalls. What is most disappointing is how General Motors and its representatives have handled my situation. I have been a loyal GM customer for years. I traded in two GM vehicles that I previously leased when I purchased this Silverado. I trusted GM and believed the company would stand behind its products. Instead, I have spent approximately nine months trying to g INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

As I was driving, the vehicle threw a CEL and I saw the RPM’s fall. This happened multiple times, twice at an all-way stop sign, and once at a major intersection resulting in me being stranded with my vehicle in the middle of an active roadway, unable to move my vehicle. I brought my vehicle into the Chevrolet Dealership and the service department is claiming that I need to pay $1500 for a fuel pump with a CEL code that is not able to be duplicated. There is a TSB 24-NA-139 regarding my issue saying that it is not the fuel pump, it is the fuel pump control module. My issue is that the dealership wants me to pay $1500 for a fuel pump solely off of their “guess” of what the issue is. The bulletin calls out the P102B as one possible code related to the issues. I refused this service since this is just the dealership’s guess of what the issue may be and I believe the fuel pump control module should be replaced for free under the 8yr/80k federal emissions warranty. I requested that the dealership check the module as a part of the $245 diagnosis I paid for and they are insisting that the issue is with the fuel pump.
