The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving on [XXX] at 70-73 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. The contact slammed on the brake pedal and pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle was turned off. The contact stated that the tachometer had increased to over 3,000 RPM. The vehicle then red-lined. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the valve body control needed to be replaced but was on backorder for a month. The vehicle was repaired, but the vehicle failed to recognize the part. The dealer informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While driving, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact was able to pull over safely. The vehicle was towed to another local dealer, Spitzer Chevrolet Amherst (200 N Leavitt Rd, Amherst, OH 44001), where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the torque converter was wobbling, and the crankshaft bearings were shot. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the oil filter had metal shavings inside. They removed the oil pan and noticed the crankshaft had broken in half. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 178,000. Parts distribution disconnect. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle started miss firing along the highway without any previous signs of problems. The vehicle was driven straight to our home and then to the dealership a few days later. We were told there, the lifters have failed. Once they started the repairs we were also adviced the cam have suffered significant damaged and needed replacement as well. The vehicle was only inspected at the dealership once it was dropped off. The first and only sympton of the insurance was the day it failed.

- #11641850February 10, 2025AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS
I was driving at approximately 35 -40 mph in foggy and wet conditions. As I approached a corner, I collided with a big metal dumpster. My airbags gave off that powder, and the smell was prominent, and the dash light came on. As well as, my side airbags (only the plastic) popped out, but, to my amazement, none of my actual airbags deployed at all. And my passenger seat belt was locked up to where I couldn't use it anymore, and no one was in that seat. Had I been in a frontal collision, I might have died. This is a major safety issue I have a 2107 Silverado 1500 LT.

Complete engine failure while traveling 70 mph on highway. No warning prior to failure, very lucky to not be involved in crash. No dash warning lights or gauges indicating any potential issues. Truck was repaired under manufacture's warranty in August 2024 at GM dealership. The following were the issues found in August: Two pistons with stacked compression rings and abnormal scoring on piston skirts, misfire on cylinder 7 and oil on the spark plug, engine disassembled and found oil ring stacked on cylinders 2, 6 & 7. All 8 pistons were replaced, connecting rod bearings replaced. The complete engine failure happened today 2/10/2025. The truck is sitting at a GM dealership waiting for GM approval to replace engine. 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 6.2 L V8. First issue in August 2024 it had 52k miles, today's engine failure it had 65k miles.

Less than 9,000 miles on a 2024 Silverado Trailboss and the Transmission goes out. Truck goes into limp mode, which is dangerous if you are on a highway. The new truck has been sitting at a Chevy dealership for 3 months waiting on a replacement part (valve). Have an incident number with GM, and they are pleasant on the phone, but they never call back with information when they say they will.

On January 17, 2025, I was approaching the entrance ramp unto Interstate 10, traveling along at approximately 40 miles an hour, when all of a sudden I noticed that my vehicle started decelerating as I was pressing on the accelerator, trying to merge onto oncoming traffic. The engine started shuttering and vibrating violently! I noticed all the warning lights, gauges and indicators had come on simultaneously! There was a loud clicking sound coming from the engine compartment and backfiring coming from the exhaust. I evaluate the situation at hand and conduct a risk assessment of trying to continue on with this problem but decided to move over to the median. I was almost run into from the rear due to lack of power in which I felt would have been the result of my truck just losing power without any warning. I drove my truck to a Chevrolet dealership after speaking with a Service Advisor, on January 20, 2025. The Truck was diagnosed as needing to replace Cam Rod and Lifters.

At roughly 146,590~ miles the truck began making a knocking noise while driving at any speed, complainant had the truck towed to independent shop and was evaluated. Was told by shop that the engine can shaft pitted and engine metal shards had exploded and shattered throughout the engine. Making the opportunity for engine stalling or risk of fire/ smoking while operating the vehicle extremely likely. Complainant was told there was no access to engine replacements or parts at this time and the wait time to receive one was 4-6 months. No warning lights ever went off. Engine was eventually replaced entirely when the part became available by an independent service dealer.

The current recall for the defective transmission valve does not address the safety issue with the vehicle. This a known issue with the truck and the transmission valve should be replaced rather than simply monitoring it. My safety and the vehicles I share the road may be at risk if the software upgrade limits the drivability while pulling a trailer on interstate highways. The life span of this vehicle is well beyond the allotted 150,000 miles of coverage and to not extend this "special coverage" beyond the original owner makes this a safety hazard to future owners of the vehicle as wellupgrade .GM is calling the software a "service correction" when in reality they are making no correction, just monitoring the problem.

- #11641284February 7, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
I received the recall notice and then the special warranty notice, fall of 2019. I took my vehicle, which was experiencing the braking issues described in both notices, to Nereson Automotive in Detroit Lakes, MN. I did call ahead & had an appointment and informed them of the letters and the problems both on the phone and in person when dropping the vehicle off for repairs. After they called me and told me they made all the repairs and had the vehicle in good working order again, I picked up my 2015 Chevy Silverado High Country (approximately 107,000 miles) and while still on the lot I experienced the same braking issues. At that point I just figured it was something that I would have to deal with. After almost 5 years of dealing with the intermittent annoyance, I started doing some research on how to fix it myself and came across a mechanics instruction on how the recall and special warranty was supposed to be performed. I called them back and scheduled another appointment pointing out they were supposed to replace the vacuum pump in 2019 and I informed them (Ty) the radio and DIC on my truck would randomly change menus and stations and wanted them to reflash the computer system (which they did not do, and also charged me over $150 for a bogus diagnostic fee afterward). After I dropped my truck off for repair (again) (approximately 158,000 miles) I received a call and they said the special warranty is expired because I was approximately 8,000 miles over the extension. I informed them I had brought them the truck in 2019 to have the issue fixed and they did not fix it under warranty at that point. They said there was nothing they could do to help fix this important SAFETY RECALL. Now, I have complete brake assist failure and a dealer that seems to be ignoring the recalls and cutting corners. I called GM Customer Service and they said I have to work it out with the independently owned dealer. I called back yesterday (XXX) and they still refuse to fix the recall. Vehicle has vibration at speeds of 40 and above. Vehicle shifts harshly and feels as if it’s constantly searching for a gear. You can feel transmission clunk when it shifts. Upshifts and downshifts at cruising speeds.

I started to hear a light tick/knocking sound during my daily 68 mile commute to work, 3/1/2024. When I would accelerate, the ticking would get louder. I noticed a bit of shaking at the same time of acceleration. I took it into the dealership on 3/2/2024 where they discovered metal shavings in my oil filter. They told me I needed an entire new engine at 51,000 miles. They replaced the engine under my existing power train warranty (which was valid until vehicle got to 60,000miles). I got my truck back on 4/19/2024, and was told I would NOT be given any additional warranty or guarantee for the engine and labor associated with the replacement. I asked if there was any additional warranty that would be given, and they said no. I have a high mile commute, and in this instance, my Power Train warranty was up just a few months after the replacement. My service advisor said if I had paid out of pocket, they would offer a 100,000 mile warranty. But since it was a warranty replacement, that I would only have the balance of whatever remained on my powertrain warranty. My concern is that this may happen again. I want to report my issue to be sure that every replacement is fully investigated and GM is held accountable. This is the first new vehicle I've purchased, the 5th vehicle I have owned in my lifetime and I have never needed a new engine. This is a fully loaded top of the line truck. It has every added feature.

Engine push rod was bent which caused lifters and 1cam shaft to be destroyed. Vehicle is tore down at dealership right now. The immediate decrease of speed and power while in traffic. Then a loud bang and engine missing. Yes, dealership. No No, but once it failed check engine light was flashing, anti lock brake lights came on. In the last few weeks four other trucks, besides ours, have been into the same dealership with similar problems. At the time when our truckcame in another truck was in for similar problems. The years of the vehicles are from 2017, 2018, 2019, Chevy Silverado 5.3 liter engines.
