- #11642654February 13, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SERVICE BRAKES
My break system failed twice in 2 weeks. On Feb 01, 2025 around 5:35 pm, I almost ran over a dog the first time because I lost access to breaks and emergency breaks and could not stop going through my neighborhood. Today on Feb 13, 2025, I had picked my son up from school, and the breaks went out after we left the school. This time I almost ran into a car but had to turn off to the right to avoid hitting it. My son and I could have injured the person driving in front of us and ourselves. I looked up the problem, and it seems that many others have faced the same problem. When I turned off the truck for 10 minutes, the system would reset itself and start working normally again. I took the truck to the shop, and it is currently there so they can run tests on it. I recorded what it looks like on the dash when I lose all braking.

I turned my truck on after grocery shopping and a notice to "Service Power Steering" popped up on my dashboard. I took it to a mechanic shop where they ran diagnostics. They discovered a TSB # 21-NA-149 and error code U0131. They believe there is an intermittent fault within the wiring causing the power steering to go out. My biggest fear is that this happens while I am negotiating a curve and lose power steering causing a crash or someone to get injured. There was also a "Service ESB" notice on the dashboard after the power steering notification.

I purchased a 2016 Silverado in 2021.I am writing regarding previously completed recall (N192265660) for my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, which addresses issues related to the rear window defroster overheating and the potential for thermal events. The recall repair was performed in 2020, but I am experiencing a recurrence of the issue. We live in Wisconsin, on a cold morning last week, the rear window of my vehicle shattered while I was inside. I believe this was caused by overheating of the rear defroster, since I literally watched it happen in my rear-view mirror, despite the recall repair having been completed. The fracture lines in the glass very distinctly show the source where it shattered, leading directly to the heating element for the defroster. This was a known issue addressed by the recall, and I am concerned that the problem was not fully resolved, as the damage was substantial and could have escalated into a fire hazard. On [XXX], the day of the incident, I tried to get a service appointment to have it looked at and was told there was nothing they could do since the "recall had already been done" to my truck. I contacted customer service and was able to have the truck looked at by a GM Service Center after they set up an appointment for me. The Customer Service manager even documented and diagnosed the cause as being the rear defroster that shattered the window, yet they still denied any help or offer to repair it. After nearly 6 weeks of back and forth with GM customer service, and then eventually escalating to the "Product Assistance Claims Team" I was still denied any help having the issue resolved even with every piece of evidence showing this was a failed recall repair. The engine is blown. Our GM Dealership where we purchased it, inspected it and says the engine cannot be repaired and must be replaced. And independent garage gave the same diagnosis. Went from running fine one day , to bucking and stalling in traffic causing a hazard to everyone on the road. Check engine light, check brakes, stabilitrak, ALL the lights on the dash were on like a Christmas tree. It doesn't run now. Currently sitting in our driveway now unable to be driven for three months as we don't have $10,000.00 for a new engine, and the extended warranty we purchased through the dealership expired 4 months before it blew up. We are now making loan payments on a GM vehicle that did not even last the length of the loan. Seeing a report on this exact issue, we did not even know until today that there was a place we could send in a complaint to. You are welcome to inspect the truck, but you would need to come to us, as it cannot be driven. Where can we get any help with this? Please help.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle jerked and briefly lost motive power before slamming into gear. The check engine warning light was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle returned to normal functionally, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The contact stated that weeks before the failure the oil pump was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

The digital gauge cluster where speedometer and other essential gauges for the vehicle failed. It is available upon request. My safety is at risk as I’m unable to determine speed, monitor ABS, or monitor other essential features that the guage cluster provides. It also periodically blinks on startling me and putting my life and others in danger. The dealership has confirmed this problem and saodnit is a know issue with this year model but my particular VIN number wasn't recalled. The dealership has inspected the part. There were no symptoms or messages prior to the part failing.

- #11642035February 11, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
Traveling on the highway at 70 mph the rear wheels (brakes) locked up nearly causing a collision. I found a couple of recalls notices for 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500, but nothing posted for 2019 Chevy Silverado. The vehicle was taken immediately to the dealership for evaluation and repair. The tow/haul mode light blinked on and then off. At no time was the tow haul mode manually engaged. My understanding is the vehicle’s Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) software could have an error that should be covered under a recall. Upon inspection and repair the dealership found codes for the brake system control module lost communication with multiple modules and found low voltage codes. They replaced the battery and updated the BSCM. I believe Chevrolet should extend the recall to 2019 models and hopefully this report will cause action to be taken and prevent accidents in the future.

- #11641617February 10, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
After driving and doing errands I tried to pull truck into garage and noticed it was hard to move. It seemed like brakes were stuck on despite not applying brakes. I pulled out of driveway to drive around block. Lost all brakes while driving down county road at 50 mph. Check engine light on, brake failure warning on, warning light that speed limited to 43 mph, ABS light on. Eventually able to stop. Turned off engine for a few minutes. Restarted and brakes all worked again although check engine light still on. This could have been deadly on a steep road or on ice or in traffic. I see online that this is a common problem with Chevy trucks although no recall has been issued for this one. I am very concerned that this truck is not safe - for me or anyone else on the road with me. I have not taken it in. I live in the country, some distance from a dealership so nothing has been confirmed. Nothing like this has happened to this truck before and there was no other warning. It is available for inspection but is my only transportation.

My GM 6.2L L87 Engine failed at 65,000 miles. Left me stranded at an intersection blocking traffic. Traffic safety and state police had to come direct traffic while I was waiting for a tow. Two seperate dealers quoted me over $15,000 to replace the engine with 1/2 the cost covered by GM. This was too expensive for me, so I ended up trading the vehicle in and taking the negative equity hit on a new vehicle loan. I seen there was an investigation opening on GM 6.2L L87 engine failures and I wanted to share my experience. This also happened to more people I know, including my own father with his 2022 Cadillac Escalade

I have a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom crew cab truck with an 8-speed transmission. I have had transmission issues for a few months. I am experiencing hard shifting from 2nd gear down to 1st gear, slipping while at cruising speed, shuddering between 20mph-50mph, transmission getting too hot. I was told by an automotive shop that they experienced the hard shifting and that they also heard a whining sound while driving. They told me that they a found a Service Bulletin that came out in December of 2024, that there could be a pinched line on top of the transmission that could be causing the overheating. I have read that the transmission control module needs to be reprogrammed, a fluid flush and refill, the Thermal Bypass Valve could be at fault. Basically everything that has been released about the transmissions on 2020- 2024 GM vehicles as being safety problems, I am experiencing. I have checked my VIN on the NHTSA website and also with a dealership, and both show that there is not a recall for my VIN. I do not tow anything, just normal ever day driving. I now have 90,000 miles on the truck and the issue first happened at around 87,000 miles. The issues with this truck are clearly manufacturer defaults and something should be done on their dime, not mine. The first time that I experienced the problems was at the end of November in traffic, which a hard shift into 1st gear, felt like I was hit from behind, but was not. Dash lights came on (traction control light, parking brake light, check engine light) and the truck went into "Limp Mode". I was able to exit the highway and get into a parking lot. I looked in the owners manual and found a quick solution and was able to regain power and all lights went off except for the check engine light. Got the code checked and it came up Transmission Control Module was potentially the issue. Code was cleared and didn't have the problem for a long time.
