My 2016 BMW X1 28i is leaking coolant. I am also getting a smell of something burning inside the car when driving. This is consistent with problems associated with the 2024 recall for water pump. I was told by my dealership that my vehicle was not one affected by the recall. I think it might be one that is. The vehicle could catch fire if there is a failure of the wiring.

About 24 months back the sunroof curtain of my BMW X1 started having problems when I retract or operate it. It used to make stretching noises when I tried to open my sunroof and after a few times I heard a crackling noise and before I can stop it the curtain tore. Initially it was a small tear, so it did not bother much but over time the curtain completely left the guide/rail on one side and started sagging. Given it is a sunroof the curtain is as long as the vehicle and so now it is sagging to a point that it obstructs driver's visibly in back mirror. BMW won't do anything about it saying it is out of warranty and ultimately to avoid accidents I had to remove the curtain completely. I also tried getting it fixed, but the issue is not just the curtain but the rails of the curtain which is a non-replaceable part :( I would have to replace full sunshade assembly which is upwards of $1600. Also, it seems to be a common problem with these vehicles. Here are more examples of it: [XXX] . Please help me and other drivers be safe on the road. The car overheated seemingly out of nowhere. About 8:25 AM on the date of the incident I noticed my heat wasn't blowing hot. I figured I just didn't let the car warm up enough. I began to drive home after work at approximately 4:00pm and the warning yellow light came on stating "drive moderately, at risk of overheating). I slowed down and drove very gently. The warning light went away. A few minutes later it came back on so I slowed down again. I was on back roads and not driving fast anyway. I then turned to go home and at the beginning of a bridge the light turned from yellow to red and said pull over. I couldn't pull over on a bridge but pulled off as soon as I was able, about three minutes later. I coasted into the nearest parking lot and had the car towed to the dealership. Their determination was it was leaking coolant from the oil filter housing area. They removed the intake manifold and repaired the car. I'm not sure exactly what was done. I want to know if the overheating was due to the ongoing recall of the coolant systems in the BMW. If so, I want to know why my car wasn't included in the recall and why a remedy wasn't performed. Receipt of the estimate was April 26, 2025

- #11663011May 25, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
We had forward collision mitigation option on this vehicle but it didn't brake to stop. This caused to rear end a SUV infront on service road and causing big damage to both vehicles. There was a recall on previous year vehicles on the braking system but were told this was fixed in this 2025 model.

I received notice on the recall for my vehicle in October 2024. Since then I have tried to make appointments with BMW of Ramsey to fix the recall issue and they have told me each time that the part is not available and they cannot fix the issue. We are now in May 2025 and this has not been attended to.

I was driving a BMW loaner vehicle provided by the dealership while my own car was being serviced. The tire pressure dropped to dangerously low levels, but the vehicle only displayed a vague “Check Tire Pressure” message. There was no urgent alert or clear warning that the vehicle was unsafe to drive, even as the tire reached dangerously low pressure. This lack of escalation poses a serious safety risk to drivers who may believe the message is routine or non-urgent. I had to swerve to avoid traffic and get myself and my kids out of oncoming traffic's way. I later confirmed with the dealership that this is the default behavior and that the vehicle does not provide a critical or emergency warning when tire pressure reaches hazardous levels. I believe this is a failure in the alerting design that could endanger drivers, and it should be reviewed by NHTSA for safety compliance.

Sunroof shade came off the tracks and is now sagging partially obstructing the view of my rear view mirror, if this sags more or falls off completely I will be unable to see out the rear window and can cause a collision. I see this has been an issue with multiple vehicles and should be addressed with the company immediately.

- #11658693May 3, 2025LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH
My specific complaint is that the “door is open while driving” notification is dangerously insufficient. Details as follows: Door was not closed properly while driving. Driver was not sufficiently notified by car (small visual notification behind steering wheel, no audible notification). Door flew open while turning, endangering passengers, alarming driver, and endangering nearby vehicles. This is in comparison to the seatbelt notifications, which are incredibly loud and pervasive, and much less dangerous than a door flying open while driving. Problem is easily reproduced.
