- #11691848October 7, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
Every time I get in the vehicle or turn the vehicle off I get a message "Secure vehicle against rolling contact service specialist". Even if I press the emergency brake it still continues, this appears to be a known problem with the BMW X1 and not sure if it will cause my car to roll away.

I believe there is a class action lawsuit for timing chains and oil pumps on BMW years 2012-2015 with N20/N26 engines. My vehicle is an exact match for this recall but it dos not show for BMW or even on your website. How do I proceed with this matter since it is something that I should not have to pay for. Can you please advise further.

The timing chain jumped, shredding the plastic teeth which ended up in oil pump causing complete engine shut down. The certified mechanic says this is a known design flaw in the N20 engines.

Coolant Pump Electrical Connector Recall #24V-608 Program Control Units (DME) Recall #20E-A01 I am following up because my dealer was unable to complete the DME recall, and the coolant pump recall still shows as incomplete in NHTSA. My vehicle was moved off-site without my consent. I received no updates or documentation, and the dealer was dismissive. My car’s condition has declined due to unresolved recalls. I have already spent over $2,000 replacing the coolant pump and now face a $5,000 repair quote and potential off-site garage fees. Description of the issue: Dealer failed to complete DME recall Coolant pump recall shows as incomplete Vehicle moved off-site without your consent Customer Relations unhelpful and rude Financial impacts ($2k coolant pump repair in December, $5k quote, off-site fees) Requests: 1. Confirm in writing which recalls are open and applicable to my VIN. 2. Properly complete the DME recall (#20E-A01) at no cost, including any module replacement. 3. Ensure NHTSA reporting for #24V-608 is accurate. 4. BMW must restore my vehicle to proper operational standards. 5. Reimburse reasonable costs caused by the dealer’s mishandling, including garage fees and prior repair costs. 6. Provide a case number and timeline for all actions.

- #11688188September 18, 2025SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On [XXX] we were headed to Myrtle Beach, a warning lite came on the dash to go straight to the dealer. Later when we got home, my wife called the dealer and set up an appointment. At that time the service department said that BMW didn't have a solution to the problem and told us to wait until we received a text or call to have the X1 BMW serviced. We got a letter in August that the remedy is available and carried it to the dealer. The service department then told us that the part was not there for our car and it was in transit. Also the part had to be paired to our vin number, so they put us back on the road for another week of maybe nothing will happen. We tried to get a loaner, because we been long bought the car. Finally on September 12th we carried the car in to be serviced for the recall, at which time we demanded a loaner to drive and received one, same as our car a year newer. The point I am getting to, is that BMW "Safety Is Important To Us" don't mean anything because they let us drive for almost a year with a Brake Recall endangering our lives. The service we got was befitting the company of BMW. Very unhappy customers [XXX] and [XXX] , You should have some type of gift or gift card for all that we went through to get our new X1 BMW repaired at our cost of time and worry. NOT HAPPY!!!! I’ve had entertainment issues. This morning I was driving on a 65 MPH highway when the LED screens on the dashboard went completely black, including the driver side with the speedometer. After approximately 10 seconds the driver’s side came back on, but all of them are warning lights were illuminated. At the same time the LED screen with the entertainment system performed a restart which took approximately 20 to 30 seconds. The car is only two months old and I’ve had numerous problems. I was able to take a photo. In the photo, the driver side is back on but you can see all of the warning lights are lit up and not all information is provided on the screen. The speedometer in the picture says I’m going 39 miles an hour, but that is not true. I was going at least 50.

A recall was issued for similar vehicles (X1) but ended with the 2018 model year (Recall 24V-608). This issue continues to be present in the 2019 model year. The thermostats in subsequent year models continue to leak, presenting a hazard. An engine warning lamp triggered an inspection at BMW Honolulu which identified the thermostat leak issue requiring “immediate attention.” In addition, BMW engine mounts in the same model year vehicle have failed in less than 6 years of operation which could present a significant operational hazard. This issue was identified at the same time as the thermostat issue referenced previously. A similar dealer recommendation of “immediate attention,” suggests the severity of the issue. This vehicle has been properly serviced at BMW Honolulu since it was purchased as a certified pre-owned vehicle from BMW Honolulu on October 22, 2022.

Current owner of a 2015 BMW X1 bought in Feb 2025. Was informed by the car dealer at that time there is currently an unresolved important safety recall campaign for NHTSA Recall Number 24V608000 - "Water Pump Connector May Short Circuit" opened back in August 2024. I reached out to the local BMW dealer for a status update if the remedy was available and they indicated a remedy is still not available. They had me contact BMW Customer Relations for a better status update. BMW Customer Relations indicated the remedy is still not available for this recall and no ETA. They only told me to keep checking back with my BMW dealer -- which I have done numerous times over several weeks. This recall has been out since August 2024 and it is well beyond a reasonable amount of time for a remedy to this recall. This is an urgent enough issue that needs to be resolved now to avoid any fire risks.

On Sunday, [XXX] while driving the 2015 BMW X1 on [XXX] , the car overheated. The vehicle was brought to the side of the road, stopped turned off and towed to BMW of Warwick, Rhode Island. On Monday, August 4, 2025, at my home residence I received a recall notice from BWM indicating that there was a recall for the water pump control module and/or water pump. Water could get to the area and cause a short or fault into a fire. It was determined that the vehicle's water pump failed by the dealership and that the module was not the cause. This is way too coincidental. The dealership and/or BMW refused to replace the pump under warranty and only installed a shield over the unit. It is my contention that the module was exposed to moisture for over 10 years such that the electrical pump suffered premature wear and tear. The parts match the recall description. I am seeking reimbursement of $955.44 for the cost of replacement. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
