This is a complaint surrounding the recall on the vehicle. I have called the dealerships closest to me 4 times over the last month and a half to remedy with no such luck. My car 12/15, was smoking from the water pump location in the engine. It has done this when driving for more than 20 minutes or driving for the first time if taking the weekend off from doing so. There is a burning smell that comes in from the vents. I have had the oil changed and inspected, there was no leak found either time. there is "no remedy available" according to the dealership but this has been ongoing for 4 months. There is a fire hazard, I have relayed that I have seen smoke but have to drive the car as it is a daily driver for my family. no solution, even temporary has been discussed from the dealer.

When shifting vehicle to park "Secure Vehicle Against Rolling" warning displays on iDrive and warning message center along with "contact BMW service center". Shifter assembly failed internally. $850 shifter assembly has a $10 internal spring that broke and requires replacement. My safety at risk due to vehicle being unsafe when parked and possibly allowed to roll if not secured. Problem can be reproduced at all times when parking vehicle. Warning is also present at start up. Dealership quoted over $3000 to replace shifter assembly. There is no incident or damage to vehicle and it has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, or insurance reps. Warning lights came on after shifter assembly internal spring failure and continually afterwards while parking and starting the vehicle. Must accept warning message on iDrive system.

"Secure vehicle against rolling" warning light comes on even while driving. It is a $10 spring but the dealer wants $3500+ to replace it. The entire center section and console needs to be taken apart just to get to the spring. Countless reports of this ... BMW is very casual about the concern and adamant on ignoring customer complaints ,but this is a serious safty issue involving the emergency brake and nonstop warning lights, this should be covered. Please enforce laws so that BMW gives proper attention to this vehicle brakes/transmission issue immediately and issue recall for the faulty parts. There are numerous folks having this issue and BMW is outright ignoring customer complaints. See some of the complaints from other below. - #11630635December 13, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I am filing this complaint regarding the unresolved safety recall for the Integrated Brake System (IBS) on my 2023 BMW X1. The recall, issued in February 2024, addresses critical safety issues, including the potential loss of power brake assist, Antilock Brake System (ABS) failure, and compromised Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). These defects increase the risk of accidents, particularly in emergency braking situations or poor driving conditions. Since the recall’s announcement, BMW Corporate has repeatedly confirmed that no official remedy is available, most recently in December 2024. However, my original dealership, BMW of Norwood, recently contacted me and claimed they could perform the repair immediately. This is contradictory and suspicious, as I had escalated the issue to BMW Corporate earlier in the week and mentioned my intent to seek legal counsel. Additionally, I have attempted to appraise or trade my vehicle multiple times since August 2024, but the recall has made this impossible, leaving me with financial and safety concerns. The dealership’s sudden claim that parts are available, without issuing a formal notice or providing documentation, raises concerns about improper recall handling or miscommunication between BMW Corporate and its dealerships. This delay, coupled with inconsistent information, leaves me and other affected customers at ongoing risk. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate BMW’s handling of this recall, ensure a consistent remedy is made available to all affected vehicles, and confirm that proper communication and compliance protocols are followed. Desired Outcome: 1.Investigate BMW’s recall handling and determine if a remedy exists. 2.Ensure consistent and accurate communication about recall remedies. 3.Require BMW to provide official documentation to affected customers when the recall is resolved.

225/50 R18. Purchased in March 2024 and tread is already at 4/32 and 5/32 as of Dec 2024 for 2 of them. Tires driven for 13K miles. This is completely unacceptable and unsafe. I believe there is a defect, for tires to be so new and tread to be degrading so quickly.

After I got my 2016 BMW X1 from Service, I heard a rough sound when I reversed the vehicle from Park. After a few days, I noticed my vehicle showing an error saying "Secure Vehicle against rolling" every time I parked the vehicle and advising me to use my hand brake. I then did some search on the web and finally took it for servicing at BMW Rockville, Maryland where the service department is managed by Auto Nation. They gave me a quote for around $2500 to fix this issue. Based on the research of this issue on the web, it looks like a $10 spring malfunction causes this issue. I have less than 55,000 miles on my vehicle. I am not sure if this issue is caused by some incorrect service work performed by Auto Nation The report from Auto Nation is at the link below [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2016 X1 is showing in the dashboard a “secure vehicle against rolling” transmission message; the fault is due to a little spring in the selector level which has been reported in other BMW and MINI models. I recently found a report in the NHTSA website related to a 10 year warranty extension for the Mini [XXX] ) but it does not include the X1 model, which suffers from the same type of defect. The warning showed up for the first time on Tuesday [XXX]. I have made an appointment with the car dealer to diagnose the issue. Multiple X1 owners have reported the same issue in multiple forums, for example: [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11627373November 25, 2024BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
The touch screen on the passenger side wasn't functional - it was completely black except for a small BMW logo. Tried turning off the car and turning it back on, but that didn't solve the problem. As a result I was unable to change the temperature/AC, use navigation or the back up camera - important safety and comfort features. A few hours later when I returned to use the car it was functioning properly. The issue continued, and on August 15, 2024 the car was brought to the service center for evaluation (car was dropped off while the screen was black) - car was evaluated, reset and returned on 8/16 claiming the issue was resolved. (2 days) However: When we got the keys and pulled the car into the driveway the screen was black, again! The following week, the car was returned to the service center - issue could not be recreated so BMW agreed to replace the entire computer system. Today, when dropping off the car for the integrated breaking system recall, I was offered an x1 loaner from the dealership. When I turned on the car it also had a black screen on the passenger side - needless to say I requested another vehicle!
