Starter Generator Failed on 10/12/2023 while the car was being driven. Warning received was "Electrical system: Malfunction! Safely stop vehicle" There are multiple reports online of people experiencing similar problems and have had recalls. We never had a recall and this could have caused a fatality. We feel Audi has been negligent.

on Sep 17 2023 my wife was driving her Audi Q7. which has 25,780 miles. She drove to a parking lot for a hiking trip, pressed on the brake and the car instead of stopping accelerated. She kept trying to press the brake, however the car did not stop until it hit a tree. The car has been towed to our house and it is not driveable. The car has not been inspected yet. I plan on calling the Audi dealer on Monday, Sep 18th. No lights appeared before the incident.

While driving with my 4 year-old daughter a notification appeared on the driver display that there is an “Electrical Malfunction” and to call the service department. A few minutes later, while actively driving on the same busy road in my town, the vehicle completely turned off, including the power steering and ABS breaks. I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection with no hazard lights and no ability to even shift the vehicle into neutral to move it. I was genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety of my daughter, as we were stranded in the middle of a busy intersection during rush hour. It was a harrowing experience to say the least. Eventually we had the vehicle towed. When I called Audi, they informed me that they suspected it was the “starter generator” and that they were aware of the issue, but this was the first I had heard of it. They subsequently confirmed that it was the starter generator and are less than accommodating.

- #11538505August 14, 2023FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Car was parked, no cars or objects within approx. 40 feet (to rear). Started car and placed in Reverse. Backed up about 3 feet and brakes activated automatically and fully. Warning lights flashed on the dash. Car was immobilized. Shifted to Drive and pulled forward. Shifted to reverse and the same thing occurred again. Repeated two additional times with same result. On the fifth time we backed up normally and without incident. Did not ever shut the ignition off. It was raining at the time.

2023 Audi Q7 The brake pedal randomly does not respond. This prevents the vehicle from being able to start, shift out of gear when parked, and the rear brake lights do not respond. My main concern is the brake lights not responding. I do not want to be injured in a collision when slowing down on the road. The vehicle has been sent back to the dealership twice. The first time the dealership could not duplicate the issue. There were no warning lights or system faults found when scanned. Two days latter the vehicle had to be towed due to the same issue not starting. The tow truck driver could not get the vehicle out of gear to move and noticed the brake lights not responding. Next day the vehicle was sent back to the dealership where they duplicated the problem but wanted to keep the vehicle for testing. The vehicle is still at the dealership 35+ days. I have multiple videos of the issue.

While parking the car, the gearshift got stuck in “Neutral” even though N was not pressed. I was not able to restart the car once I turned it off. Every time I pressed the start button, a warning would come on the screen “ please put the vehicle in Park. Risk of roll over”. When I pressed the park button, nothing would happen. I got out of the car, but it wouldn’t lock. Unable to start the car for over 2 hours. Finally had to get the car towed to Audi dealership. It’s only one year old SUV. No prior similar problems.

- #11534930July 27, 2023SEAT BELTS
The seat belt has now come unlocked from the locked position multiple times without unbuckling the seat. This is an issue because it's the seat belt used to install an infant car seat, so the car seat is not locked into place, which could be a major issue in the event of a crash. The seat belt retractor has randomly unlocked multiple times after being locked into place. The car dealership was unable to replicate the problem, but it has since occurred multiple times at home.

The right rear seat belt locking retractor, which was locked when I put my son in his car seat, became unlocked in motion during our trip while his car seat was in use. I check the lock each time I place him in his car seat, and it was locked at the beginning of our journey. Having an unlocked safety belt puts a child at risk since their car seat can't be properly secured with an unlocked safety belt. The retractor had worked prior to this instance since I started using it with our car seat 3 months ago. I have reached out to the Audi dealership and have not heard back.

I have charged many phones in this car's wireless charging pad and they all get extremely hot. Fortunately I caught it early. When the phone was removed, it was too hot to touch. I believe there is a real risk of phones catching fire in this car. I've now discontinued use of the charger.

- #11522094May 15, 2023ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
Since purchase of this vehicle, it randomly trips a critical engine failure error do not exceed 1200 rpm. When it does this, it will idle at a much higher rpm than the do not exceed value, which causes the vehicle to come to a stop. The vehicle went into the shop during the winter of 2022, and they determined that it was a computer failure and replaced the car's computer system. The error went away until the winter/spring of 2023. In 2022, this error always occurred within a few blocks of home at low speed; but now this critical error will trip while driving on the roads at faster speeds, which causes the vehicle to rapidly decelerate. The dealership and service center looked over the issue and found that Audi has a technical bulletin out for this, and they expect a fix by fourth quarter 2023. Until then, they advise that it is not a problem and when the vehicle does this error wait until you're stopped and then turn the car off and back on to return the vehicle to normal operating conditions. Audi told the dealership there is no safety issue, and I'm telling the dealership that it will stop rapidly and without warning, and I was lucky the last time this happened that the cars behind me were paying attention. Neither Audi corporate or Audi Bellevue consider this a safety risk, and that having a car stop suddenly and without warning to the driver or other cars on the road is perfectly fine. I've tried dealing with them all and the dealership states Audi says there is no safety issue and no fix so there is nothing we can do, and Audi USA customer care says that the dealership says it is safe so there is nothing we can do. It's a circle of nobody dealing with a serious safety issue. They state it's a rare occurrence, but I've had this happen several times over the 16 months I've owned the vehicle. See picture from text communicaiton.

The front moonroof exploded while I was driving on the highway. There was heavy traffic so I was not traveling at a high speed. There was no debris that hit the roof. Without warning, It shattered and the falling glass cut my hand. I had to navigate to the side of the road while falling glass was hitting my head and body. It was hard to see with the glass falling.

My 2022 Q7 behaved strangely today when the sunroof just was busted by itself. My Q7 is just 8 months old & to my surprise even when nothing hit the sunroof, it was busted. I have officially logged a complaint with Audi. But I am unsure of any response. I was with my wife while this incident happened & lucky that my kids weren’t with me at the same time. This vehicle is apparently the luxury model & safety should have been the first consideration for the driver, passengers & any vehicle following while on the road. I need your help here to understand how to address this issue.

- #11515205April 3, 2023ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR/REGULATOR
The contact owns a 2021 Audi 7. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle electrical warning messages would suddenly display. One while the wife was driving approximately 20 MPH the vehicle suddenly shut off in the middle of the road. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the alternator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed by the service advisor that the failed alternator was a known issue and the manufacturer had extended the warranty for the alternator and the replacement alternator was on a ten-week delay due to the high demand for the part. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,000.

285/40R21 I was pulling out of a parking lot onto Rt 40, a secondary, 2-lane road, at approximately 6pm. As I accelerated to approximately 30 mph, without warning I heard a loud noise and felt the pull of the right front tire. I pulled off into a gas station parking area that was nearby and was very fortunate to have avoided an accident due to the significant traffic at the time. Upon inspection, the tire had a complete and catastrophic failure of the sidewall, stranding me at that location until Audi roadside assistance transported the vehicle to our local dealer approximately an hour later.

- #11514930April 1, 2023TIRES
285/40R21 At the end of a Vermont ski trip, left to return home on the morning of 3/15/23 at approximately 8am. Outside temperature was approximately 30 deg F and it was snowing. Due to partially snow-covered roadways, speeds were limited to 35-40 mph. After driving for approximately 20 minutes, the tire pressure warning indicated, followed approximately 30 seconds later by catastrophic sidewall failure and complete tire deflation. The rapid loss of tire pressure combined with the slippery road service was extremely dangerous and we were very fortunate in steering the car to a safe parking area without losing control or colliding with other nearby vehicles. Audi roadside assistance was contacted and the car was towed to a local dealer. Upon inspection, the failed tire (original OEM supplied) showed no evidence of puncture, only catastrophic failure of the sidewall. The failed tire is being held at the dealer in Rutland, VT. Because of a similar failure on 11/12/22 with another of the (4), original OEM tires, all (4) tires were replaced with Pirelli tires as it was no longer safe to continue driving on any of the original Continentals.

- #11505004February 1, 2023ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, STEERING
Multiple warnings indicating to contact dealer (Lane departure, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, electric system malfunction, steering malfunction) then a few minutes later transmission failure and engine failure imminent.... attempted to move out of traffic. Luckily, I made it to the right lane before the steering shut down, then the transmission failed (stepping on the gas caused the engine to rev, but no power was delivered to the wheels), and last the car completely died. Had to have it towed to dealership. Dealership confirmed that the starter/generator failed.
