The infotainment center in this vehicle controls multiple features including HVAC, mapping, etc. Mine reboots 3-10 times per day. This causes windows to fog, consule and speed to go blank along with many other important features. I've had it in the shop multiple times and finally they told me that Volvo won;t replace under warranty unless it fully crashes. This isn;t living up to their written warranty and is a safety hazard.

Reverse backup camera repeatedly does not work and will display message saying camera unavailable. Sound system will go out with the center screen were no sound comes through (not even blinker sound). With a small child and have concerns driving when these issues occur, especially since they occur unexpectedly. Issues will occur a few days in a row, then work fine for a few days and then issues will occur again. Have been to the shop where they looked at the issue and was advised have to wait for a software update.

The back up camera frequently does not work. When you put the car in reverse, the screen where the back up view should appear will state, “Camera is Temporarily Unavailable “. The dealer replaced the camera with no improvement. This fault occurs several times per week.

- #11631036December 16, 2024LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH
The passenger side rear door locked and could not be open from either the inside or the outside. The dealer concluded that the door lock failed in the locked position. It gained entry to the door panel with the door shut, removed the old lock, opened the door, installed a new lock assembly and reassembled the door. Because the car was slightly out of warranty, we had to pay for the repair. Until this was done, we felt very unsafe. In the event of an accident or emergency, the passenger on that side of the car would not be able to exit the car. There was no warning prior to this happening. It just stopped working.

- #11630286December 12, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Driving as normal through a major intersection and the car began to jerk and stutter when trying to accelerate. there was no warning or symptom prior to this issue, but upon it happening, the turtle warning light appeared and had the display had an engine system message saying "reduced performance". I was able to pull over. Then turned the car off and back on, which then allowed me to pull in to the nearest parking lot. The warning light remained on. The car was towed to the nearest Volvo dealership. They confirmed the issue was a failure of the fuel pump. They replaced the fuel pump. Luckily I had passed the intersection and the cars around me were still accelerating from a lower speed, so this did not cause an accident.

Around 10/26/2024 I purchased a 2021 Volvo XC60 from Carvana. Carvana sells vehicles with a 100 day limited warranty. The manufacturer warranty was expired at this time. Carvana states they do an inspection of the vehicle prior to delivery. When I received the vehicle, I noticed the steering wheel would vibrate hard when I came to a stop. I took the Volvo to the local Volvo dealership to perform a full multi-point inspection. They found that the brake pads were at 1-2 MM with warped rotors on the front wheels. The back wheels had 3 MM brake pads. I called Carvana on 11/22/2024 to discuss the brake issue and inquired about the 100 day warranty to cover the brake repair because I was sold a very unsafe vehicle. I was told their warranty would not cover the cost to repair the brakes. I asked for the inspection report they did prior to delivering the Volvo. They will not release the inspection report to me. So I asked for the details of the inspection on the brakes. They told me their inspection showed front wheels with 6m on both and the rotors were at 29 (LF) and 28.02 (RF). They told me the rear wheels had 6M on brake pads for both wheels and the rotors were 11 (LR) ad 11.92 (RR). They could not tell me the date of the inspection. I trust the Volvo Dealership to provide accurate information on their inspection. This is not a safe vehicle and should have the brakes replaced AND Carvana should pay for this cost. At this point, Carvana is selling very dangerous and unsafe vehicles and declining to provide inspection reports. I ask for your help with contacting Carvana and absolutely requiring them to repair and replace the brakes on the vehicle they sold me.

My vehicle is an XC60. The headlights fogged up and the fog caused issues with driving in the dark. It took four days for the fog to resolve itself. During that time, at night, you could see the fogged areas in the beam. I took the car to a Volvo dealership and they were not able to replicate the issue, likely because it is not as hot now as it was when this occurred. They told me to open a case with Volvo USA. I sent them photographs. They then responded that there was no evidence of condensation, but condensation was normal and would clear up as it did in this case. The sentence is clear that there was condensation while saying there was no condensation. The headlights are a safety issue and the car is under warranty for 10 years. The headlights should be replaced. I shouldn’t be in a position to fight a company that prides itself on safety about headlights, which are critical for safe driving at night. This is a common issue. I searched and found multiple people with the same problem and some were repaired while others weren’t. Volvo is playing a game of chance with a critical component of a vehicle. I even emailed the VP of Customer Care and he did not respond. I don’t know what else to do besides alert the NHTSA that Volvo headlights are in some instances failing their drivers and Volvo refuses to fix the problem.

System regularly displays "Camera is temporarily unavailable" when backing up, requires full reboot of head unit to resolve. Backup cameras regularly not activating upon vehicle startup. This is a daily occurrence and has not been fixed with updates (in fact, it's gotten more frequent).

- #11620118October 16, 2024POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The contact owns a 2024 Volvo XC60. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission intermittently failed to shift once the vehicle was shut off after it was already on for a long period of time. No warning light was illuminated however, the infotainment screen and the dashboard darkened. The failure occurred on several different occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to get a diagnosis; the dealer stated that the failure cause was unidentifiable. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that almost two months later the failure occurred again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to get a second diagnosis. Once again, the dealer stated that the failure cause was unidentifiable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,324.

I am writing to address a recurring safety issue with my 2023 Volvo XC60 B5 AWD related to the windshield wipers. I believe this issue poses a serious safety risk. Specifically, when snow accumulates in the area where the wiper arms retract—hidden behind the hood for aerodynamic and stylistic reasons—the wipers stop functioning until the snow is cleared. This has happened to me twice during the winter of 2022-2023 and once during the winter of 2023-2024. While driving in heavy snow, the wipers would suddenly cease movement when sufficient snow accumulated in that “well”. There were no warning lights of any kind. This was sometimes triggered by braking, which caused snow to slide off the roof into that area. Once the snow accumulates to a certain level, the wipers become inoperable, resulting in zero visibility. This situation demands immediate action, regardless of my surroundings. Fortunately, on all occasions, I was on quiet roads, allowing me to stop safely. However, during the first incident, I was caught off guard and collided with a snowbank at low speed, causing no damage. Clearing the snow from the wiper well is not straightforward. The wiper arms must be placed in service mode to access that area, but they will not do so once they have stopped functioning. After the initial incidents in 2022-2023, I took my vehicle to the dealer, who evaluated the issue and “reset” the wipers. Unfortunately, this was after the snow season, so I couldn't determine if it made a difference until the following winter. Although the winter of 2023-2024 was relatively mild, the problem resurfaced during a late-season storm. I am particularly concerned about the potential consequences if these incidents were to occur at higher speeds on a busy highway. The risk of a serious crash involving myself and my passengers is significant.

My Volvo XC60 rear windows turns blurry in the heat. For long I didn't bothered, but recently I have noticed that there are more people facing the same issue with 23 & 25 models. Please see the attached picture. Volvo America is aware about the issue but they have not taken any action.

Case number 240821-000271 was opened on 8/21/24 with Volvo Car USA Support. I have three main concerns: 1) The infotainment system losing the favorites that I have saved in the Sirius application. This had been an intermittent problem that I had been having since I purchased the car. I finally took it into the service department at Volvo Cars of Gilbert on 1/7/23 for this problem (Invoice Number VOCS110975). The service department was unable to recreate the problem so they did nothing. 2)A complete car system reboot while I was driving on 6/10/24. As I was driving down the road the HVAC system shut off and the dash and infotainment system screens went blank. All car systems completely shut down except the engine. This was an extremely frightening experience as all of this happened with no warning whatsoever WHILE I WAS DRIVING. This is a huge safety issue! Within about a minute of driving like this the systems started to come back up. I proceeded home. The next morning I took the car to Volvo Cars of Gilbert again. They had the car for 5 days and performed a software update on the IHU (Infotainment Head Unit) (Invoice Number VOCS120164). 3)The failure of the infotainment system to update after starting the car and driving. This happened on 8/7/24 and I took the car directly to Volvo Cars of Gilbert again. The infotainment system was stuck on “Infotainment system starting…” for the entire 12-minute drive to Volvo. Volvo Cars of Gilbert had my car for 8 days this time and this time they did a reload to the existing IHU (Invoice Number VOCS121204). I asked that they replace the IHU. Volvo refused to replace the IHU because it was too expensive at $3200. Also, the problem of the infotainment system losing its radio favorites has become much worse. It happens daily now. I believe there is an opportunity for a catastrophic event to happen while I am driving if this IHU problem is not corrected immediately.

The Volvo XC60 re-charge/hybrid is not equipped with a spare tire. A tire repair kit is provided. I had a flat tire resulting from sidewall damage. The repair kit is ineffective for this type of tire failure. This required towing the vehicle to a tire shop for replacement. If this had happened in a rural setting, at night, or on a weekend the vehicle's occupants would have been put in danger. I was not informed of this feature at the time of sale of the vehicle. This information would have influenced my decision to purchase the vehicle. I am also told that a conventional spare tire from Volvo is not a solution to the problem as it won't support the weight of this model.
