On my 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Hybrid at 72,241 miles, the vehicle started making a knocking noise. Engine turned off and wont start at all. Had the truck hauled to toyota dealership for service. After them having it a week, they called to let me know that the engine is completely locked up. Metal Shavings in the oil and motor wont turn over at all, even with a rachet on the crank bolt. Luckily I bought a extended warranty when i purchased the truck used as toyota is claiming only the non hybrid engines are under the toyota recall for the engines. After reading and researching they have the same engine just one doesnt have the hybrid assist on it. Toyota told me that the extended warranty company was coming today to check it out and would let me know where to go from here. They said its a very very uncommon issue on the hybrids but after researching that, that was a lie.

There is a lag when you accelerate. Many people notice a throttle lag and I’ve asked the dealer to fix it, but they said it is not a recall.

My toyota tundra is having issues with the fuel pump. It is saying I am using e85 fuel when that is not the case. As a result I am having issues with cold start. There are recalls however I am being told that my truck is listed among them despite having the same issue.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious vehicle safety incident involving a sudden and complete loss of power while driving at highway speed. Vehicle Information: Make: Toyota Model: Tundra Model Year: 2023 VIN: [XXX] Incident Description: While driving at highway speed, my vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of power. The vehicle immediately lost propulsion, creating a dangerous situation for myself and my family. This event occurred without warning and required immediate action to safely exit traffic. Following the incident, the vehicle was taken to an authorized Toyota service facility. After inspection, the vehicle required a full engine replacement. The repair was completed, and the vehicle was returned to me. However, despite the repair, the incident has caused a lasting loss of confidence in the vehicle’s safety for highway operation. My family and I now avoid highway driving due to fear that a similar loss-of-power event could recur. Important Clarifications: • No collision or personal injury occurred, but the situation posed a significant safety risk. • The loss of power occurred at highway speed, not during low-speed or idle conditions. • The vehicle required a complete engine replacement following the incident. • The repair itself does not address the safety concern related to sudden power loss at speed. Current Safety Concern: Although the vehicle is currently operable, I do not feel it is safe to use on highways due to the nature of the original failure. The sudden loss of propulsion at highway speed presents a serious safety risk to occupants and other road users. I am submitting this report so that NHTSA is aware of this incident and can evaluate whether similar incidents may be occurring with this vehicle or powertrain configuration. Thank you for your attention to this safety matter. Throttle lag, takes a couple of seconds for the truck to register me pressing on the gas before jolting forward. Not only frustrating but dangerous.

The contact owns 2019 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond immediately. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle stalled, and approximately thirty seconds later the vehicle worked as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced, and codes were in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Laggy throttle response, always a significant delay. This is dangerous, especially during heavy traffic situations. Drivers seat constantly pops and cracks under acceleration or braking.

Toyota has recalled vehicles (24V-381) with the exact same motor that I have, but my truck has not been recalled simply because it is a hybrid. Their reasoning is that the hybrid motor will allow you to still move if the internal combustion engine does not work. Many hybrid owners have stated when their motor died they could not move. Toyota needs to include ALL the motors in this recall, including the hybrid engines. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.

- #11712203January 20, 2026SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER
The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact discovered that there was smoke inside the vehicle. The contact opened the front passenger side door and discovered that the front passenger seat was burned and had melted. The contact stated that the front passenger seat had caught on fire and extinguished itself prior to the contact discovering the smoke. The origin of the fire was from the front passenger’s heated seat function. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was unoccupied during the fire. Neither a Fire nor a Police Report was filed. The vehicle remained at the residence. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the front passenger’s seat heater needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also mentioned that the insurance company declined coverage since they deemed it to be a manufacturer's defect. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Add a stoplight or stop sign at a full and complete stop…. I pressed down the accelerator and nothing happens for about a second and a half… When it finally does respond, it jumps as if it was struggling to get into gear and popped itself… However, then it goes right back to normal.. But the slow starting happens very often. Definite lag when punching on the gas.

Unknown. Intermittently when merging into highway traffic from the onramp, the truck will stall and I will lose acceleration. There will be a loss in power and the truck speed will not change. instead it will just coast with no ability to change speed. I have owned the truck for 1 year and 3months. I advised the dealer and they can not duplicate the issue.

This is a known issue on previous year vehicles. Gas pedal response is delayed excessively causing scenarios where one could become injured if attempting to pull out from a full stop or rolling stop expecting the vehicle to move and it doesn’t. Reference Toyota TSB-0111-22 for vehicle hesitation while accelerating. Brought my vehicle into a Toyota dealer in Scranton PA on 12/16/2025 with this info and they were unable to duplicate the issue along with stating that TSB does not apply to this year vehicle. Look online there are tons of forums stating this issue is still present in the newer year models like mine which is a 2025. This is a serious problem as it’s happened at random with no clear reasoning other than potential programming issue between the transmission and gas pedal coding.
