Went to work and parked. It rained that day, not sure if it’s related. When I went to leave the dash airbag light stayed on. This was December 2023. There are no other issues with the car. No other warning lights. The car has 52,300 miles on it now. I just recently took it to the dealership to see about getting it fixed and was quoted $7k-11k in repairs. They told me “it’s usually the setback assembly. That could possibly fix it.” I was told the lifetime power train warranty that the dealership offers does not apply. I do have the invoice, but for some train the website is not letting me upload.

I recently purchased this vehicle from HHGreg in Tampa, Fl in May 2023. We found out it was associated with a recall regarding the brakes within 60days of having the vehicle, which Brandon Nissan took care of. My car only has 40,000 miles on it now. We bought it with only having 36,000 miles on it. Therefore, we've only driven it 4k miles. However, for the last 3 months, this car will literally shut off while driving, mainly when taking a turn. Which, as you can imagine is extremely unsafe, especially in the middle of a main intersection, which has now happened to me three times. We have had 3 mechanics look at the car, including someone from Brandon Nissan, and no one is able to figure out why the car keeps losing power. When you run a diagnostic on it, all the codes come back as passing. After sitting for a day or so, it will start back up, maybe run 24-72hrs, then it will completely power down again. The car has a brand new battery in it. The alternator is giving out the correct voltage. But something in the charging system and or electrical system is not working. There has to be a shortage or a defect in this models engine. A vehicle with this low of mileage is basically brand new and should NOT have these issues! I am paying for a car I can't even use or rely on. Very frustrated. This will be the last time I ever purchase a Nissan Vehicle.

I was driving on the highway and the passenger side front pillar trim panel just flew off. This is the second time this has happened to my vehicle, the first time was my rear pillar which I paid to replace myself because I was told at the dealership this is just a cosmetic issue. I disagree, to me this is very hazardous and could potentially hurt someone, and now my car sounds like air is coming through the windshield. I don’t feel safe driving this car now and this kind of thing happening. I would feel awful if this caused an accident or if someone got hurt and I feel that Nissan should take responsibility and correct this defect as I have researched that many people have experienced the same scenario with these parts of the vehicle. The one I had replaced had different clips and definitely feels more secure, but again I don’t think enough people are reporting this issue properly, so I am because it’s dangerous.

STEERING
In 2016 we had to replace the steering lock mechanism. Went to start the car and a security light came on and car would not start , and had to get the car towed from work. We paid to have the part replaced on 12/23/2016. Now, 11/27/2023 we had the same issue with the steering lock mechanism where we tried to start the vehicle and it won’t due to this same issue. Now having to get the car towed again to have the part replaced. I saw there was a voluntary safety recall on this issue in 2017. We did not receive any letter stating our car was affected, yet we replaced the part in 2016 with no reimbursement and now again in 2023 with the part doubling in cost.

AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
First, my passenger airbag light came on and will not go off. then my emergency breaking system activated while I was driving on the interstate and I was almost hit by a semi from behind I didn’t manage to get the vehicle off the road I took it to Nissan . They did a diagnostics and couldn’t find anything wrong with the car the emergency braking system has activated several times since then and now my whole dash system seems to freeze up completely and will not let me use anything in the car. I have to put it in park the car off and restart for it to work. Nissan has my vehicle now . They did another diagnostics and said it was a sensor in the airbags, and the whole driver side seat had to be replaced and I was told that my airbags would not deploy if I got in a car wreck since there is no recall for this issue so they say I have to put out-of-pocket that amount of money to fix my car and they want me to pay for another diagnostics fee. I have a car that does not have safety features that I paid for. Nissan wants to charge me again for another diagnostics exam and the cost for the seat they say about $5000 .

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
1. Both headlights on dim are so dim that you cannot drive safely, they do not project in front of the car far enough to see at night, dawn or dusk. I am concerned if other cars I meet can even see me approaching. My flashlight shines brighter and farther. I have replaced the bulbs for the dim lights and it did no good. 2. Drove to California and was in west Texas after dark, could not see the road after dark. 3. My relative is a mechanic and he has confirmed the defective illumination with my dim lights. 4. It has not been confirmed by any officials such as insurance or police. 5. I noticed this problem about 1 year ago. I have been having to run bright lights if I must drive after dark. This is dangerous, illegal if meeting another car, etc. This is a seriously dangerous problem. I have researched on the internet for several weeks looking for a solution. I finally ran across your website. I did see that the Nissan Altima had a recall for their defective headlights. This should also be a recall for the Maxima. I have driven Nissan's for many years and never had this defect. I don't know how recalls are initiated but if it is through the nhtsa it should be investigated promptly as this issue could cost someone's life. If this is the agency that initiates a recall this should happen NOW. All of us Maxima drivers who are having this issue of which according to my research are many, would appreciate any help. I'm sure many Maxima drivers are not aware there is a complaint procedure, I didn't. I am going to have to go to an auto parts retailer, buy two headlight assemblies and use a body shop to install and this will be very expensive. Thank you for your help.

I was driving on I75 driving around 75 mph when all of a sudden the sunroof exploded. It sounded like a shotgun went off over my head and glass started pouring down on top of me. The sunroof malfunctioned without any warning whatsoever. This was a very jarring event to occur on the interstate of all places. Thankfully, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and exit the interstate using the first available exit and called my insurance company to report the incident.

While driving on the highway the car will lose power and acceleration, unable to accelerate. Power steering will begin to slowly lock up. After trying to safely pull over, ABS, battery and traction control light comes on. Then when I turned off the car, the car will not turn back on. Had to get the car towed to dealership. Car is now there, technician determined to be alternator issue. I read other similar situations on forum website with people dealing with same issue with same year, make and model.

Car starts, but would not accelerate. Turned the car off, started 10 minutes later, car would not accelerate past 5 mph. Drove a 1/4 block turned around, car’s power steering locked up in drive way. 12 hours later car works fine, no acceleration issues. Brought to Nissan dealership, they found no issues. 2 weeks later, drove for 3-hour trip. Returned home and parked. Started car 30 minutes later, drove 10 minutes and car loses acceleration again in the middle of road/traffic. Able to park safely. Car engine would not restart, lights and hazards working. Error message on dash says incorrect key code. Called a tow, they jumped the car with a jumper pack and engine starts, car accelerates. 1 day later new battery installed, new battery in key fobs. Car is accelerating and starting now. My complaint, my belief that there is a serious design flaw with the keyless start option. Car is not detecting key while in drive every time. No indication given that batteries were low power. Safety issues - no detectable problems found by mechanics, losing acceleration while in traffic possibly due to key fob malfunction. Why is there no option for traditional key start? How can car be trusted to start/ accelerate when driving long distances, when there is no reasonable explanation for the loss of acceleration? This is not a unique issue, a number of complaints online for viewing. Videos on how to ‘fix’ by unplugging car battery. Consumers should not have to diy/disconnect car battery just to start a car.I believe this is a deeper issue with car design and is a safety issue for teen and adult drivers.

How are ya'll? This is a request to The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration for vehicle repairs. As mentioned, this is in reference to a vehicle 2016 Nissan Maxima review for vehicle repairs. The mentioned vehicle, 2016 Nissan Maxima (VIN: [XXX] ) is owned by [XXX] II, confirmed by United Services Automobile Association (USAA) in March of 2023. The mentioned vehicle was involved in a weather related collision in July of 2021. The Cause No [XXXXXXXXXXX] went through review in the Bexar County Districts Courts. During which time, there were court ordered mediation: it was confirmed by [XXX] with USAA that the security system was deactivated in the Nissan Maxima. [XXX] with USAA also indicated that the mentioned vehicle was paid in full. Be advised Mr. [XXX] falsely presented facts in the court of law as indicated by the collection document dated August of 2023, which was emailed to Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. The most recent hearing for Bexar County District Courts was a Trial based on the Merits in January of 2023. As mentioned there was a request for review sent to for repairs of the Nissan Maxima, with the intent to return to owner [XXX] II. This is a request for review to the The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration of Cause No [XXXXXXXXXX] with respect to the state inspection pass of Nissan Maxima for years 2021, 2022, and 2023. Repairs include Body, Parts, and Frame Alignment (Set up and measure damage from unbodily clamps) ; Cosmetic- Chrome Tire/Wheel Alignment and Repair; Repair/Pull right quarter panel; Repair/pull left quarter panel, automatic flex additive; Body, Frame, and Mechanical Labor; Paint supplies and labor, Automatic Corrosion Protection; Hazardous Waste, Recycle Part, and Miscellaneous. The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact then stated that the RPM’s failed to increase. Additionally, the contact stated that while shifted into reverse, he heard a whining sound then the vehicle half shifted. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer and had not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the Extended Warranty had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.

The emergency braking system warning light came on while I was stopped in rush hour traffic. No collision. Light is coming on every time I drive the car. Fear of the system automatically stopping my vehicle while driving without cause. The dealership refused to test the sensors without me paying for the service. This first started showing up on 8/28/2023. The front sensors warning stating " front sensor obstructed system is unavailable" has been coming on for no reason at random. Dealership refuses to test sensors without me paying for test. This has been happening for some time.

Since I got the car in 2018 the car does a jutter I went to a mechanic and they hooked it up to the computer and did a diagnostic and that's what it's called a judder the car keeps stuttering when it hits past 23 mph. As the years went on it has gotten worse and worse and Nissan will not cover it even though they're at fault for it I don't know what to do because certain mechanics are charging $3,500 and more

I reached out to Carvana to file a complaint as I wasted 2 hours of my life taking my car to have recalls fixed when the recalls were non-existent. Carvana in turn routes me to file a complaint with you as you send them the codes for recalls. Does my car have recalls or not?

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the passenger’s side air bag failed to turn on while the front passenger's side seat was occupied. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known issue, and that the front passenger's side seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
