Car was burning oil rapidly. While driving heard loud noises, shaking, smoke started coming through vents and car turned off. Kia is stating that there are many recalls on vehicle, but the only recall I received is for a tow hitch. I don't have a tow hitch. Very dangerous if I was going somewhere with a higher speed limit. Kia dealership is saying corporation won't offer extended warranty due to recalls not being completed. Again the only recall is for a tow hitch. Kia dealership has quoted me over $10000 to fix a vehicle that is suffering from known manufacturer failures.

I was driving down the freeway and suddenly heard a large pop from above my head, then looked in my rear view mirror and saw what turned out to be part of my sunroof falling on the road behind me. A bit of glass fell into the cabin, but most flew off immediately or was caught by the fabric cover. I pulled over and my front sunroof panel had shattered. I did not see any object coming at us from ahead prior to this happening and think it was spontaneous.

6 different times my wife has driven the vehicle and when at a stop and restart the vehicle will not go over 25 mph even when the gas pedal is pushed to the floor. The vehicle while driving would lose power and decelerate and would only go 25-30 mph. I have two videos of it happening with her even after the previous day of the vehicle being at the dealership for the same problem. The A on the dash was not supposed to be blinking while driving according to dealership rep. I have the videos also but can’t upload them because they are bigger than allowed. I am concerned after reading reviews of other owners having the same problem but no resolution has been found. I am concerned for my family that ride in the vehicle to neighboring states for ball tournaments. Please help try to find a resolution to this issue before my family or another is injured or killed.

Left out for work one morning as normal. Everything was ok no lights no warnings no problems. I was driving approximately 25-30 mph when my speed began to decelerate, a knocking noise, the check engine and oil light came on and my vehicle just stopped. After about 10-15 mins I could restart the car and drive to a safe parking lot off the street. When I started the car back up the knocking sound was even worse. In the parking lot, all the fluids were checked and there was not one drop of oil in the engine. I took the vehicle to the shop and was told the engine was done. It would need to be replaced. The mechanic explained that there had been a problem with the engines burning up oil in the 2011-2014 Kia's. Thankfully, I was on a local road during morning travel, not the highway. I shudder to think of what may have happened if I suddenly started to decelerate at highway speeds and was hit by another vehicle.

Engine was consuming large amounts of oil, attempted to conduct oil consumtion test per Kia request was unable to complete due to volume of oil consumption . Engine locked up after kia telling me they couldnt help me since the oil consumtion test couldnt be completed.

The contact owns a 2013 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that the vehicle was initially taken to the dealer to have the A/C unit repaired. After the A/C repair was performed on the vehicle, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving at various speeds and while idling. The contact stated that prior to vehicle stalling, several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. Upon investigation, the contact discovered Kia Voluntary Service Campaign: SC106 - 2011-2013, My Kia Sorento ECM Logic Upgrade, which the contact linked to the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

While utilizing cruise control on the PA Turnpike, the check engine light flashed on and the Sorento began to lose speed. The cruise control was attempting to compensate and pushing at 100% power, however the speed continued to decrease. We turned off cruise control and still were unable to increase speed. We were at 100% acceleration but lose 1 MPH every ~10 seconds or so. We pulled over and kept the vehicle running. Opened the hood and saw the engine shaking violently. We turned the car off - waited ~30 seconds and turned it back on. The vehicle operated fine afterwards and since. Dealers are unable to diagnose in a timely manner and are booking 1-3 months out - even further if you need a loaner vehicle.

On [XXX], I was on my way to the Orlando airport to pick up my daughter in her car (Kia Sorento 2.4L GDI). At about the halfway point to the airport, I increased my speed so I could go around a slow moving truck on the turnpike. After I passed the truck, I guess maybe a few 10ths of a mile give or take. The car just died. I looked at the dash and I see it's lit up like a Christmas tree. I pulled over to the side of the road and onto the shoulder. I put the car in park, turn off the car, and then try to start it. It didn't start so I popped the hood and first thing I checked was under the car to make sure there was no oil or coolant leaks. Then I checked the oil dipstick and there was plenty of oil and the coolant tank was at the full mark. I called my insurance agency to get roadside assistance and the car was towed to the city of Clermont in Florida. We charged the battery due to it being low from trying to start the car. After the battery was placed back in the car we tried again to start the car. I was told to stop because there was smoke coming from the front of the engine. No fire, but it may have been the starter smoking trying to start the car. After trying several times, I gave up and filled out paperwork for the Christian Bros Auto group to check the car to see what is wrong with it. After a few days we were told that the motor was seized up and needs to be replaced. We have all the documentation of all oil changes and repairs since my daughter got that SUV. Vehicle was well maintained and documented. I see that there is a class action lawsuit against KIA for this size engine. Our next step is to see what we have to do to get the car repaired. The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 60-70 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal loud cracking sound and stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the freeway. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to a safe location. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The contact stated that upon opening the hood to inspect the vehicle, the contact noticed that the coolant reservoir had exploded, causing coolant to splash underneath the hood and to leak out on the front passenger's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the engine was taken apart. The dealer diagnosed that there was oil intrusion in the coolant, and that the engine had overheated excessively, causing the engine block to become distorted. The Extended Warranty field technician later informed the contact that the repair could not be covered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

I was driving home from work and the engine just shut off and seized while I was going down the road, coasted into an empty lot while there was traffic coming behind be and towards me on the opposite side of road and called dealership, no warning lights until everything shut down in that moment, towed to Kia dealership where mechanic diagnosed it as seized. No explanation for why without tear down of motor that would be at my expense, warranty deemed voided because of a gap in oil change. Oil change was up to date and car had oil in it.

THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF VEHICLE "KIA SORENTO 2015 IALL OVER MY CAR, MY CAR COLOR IS: PEARL WHITE. IT IS JUST PEELING OFF ALL OF THE SUDDEN. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE WORLD TO KIA/HUNDAY CAR OWNERS, INCLUDING THE USA AND CANADA. EVEN THOUGH KIA HAS NOT ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, THEY KNOW IS HAPPENING. I NEED KIA TO BE RESPONSABLE AND PAID FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM. i WILL NOT FILE A CLAIM IN MY CAR INSURANCE FOR THIS, BECAUSE I DID NOT CREATE THIS PROBLEM, KIA DID.

when I purchased the vehicle the check engine light came on the day after. It would come on and off as I would start and turn off the vehicle. The salesman told me that the check engine light was still on because they had just serviced it and it needed to be reset. No driving problems occurred until a year later. I took the vehicle to be diagnosed three times by three different auto mechanics. There was a recall on the vehicle that is no longer a recall. The Kia dealership service department told me that I would have to pay thousands of dollars to do a engine breakdown to see what the root problem is. The vehicle will not drive far anymore so I do not drive it and I'm still paying for it.

Over the past couple of months my headlight are shutting off while driving at night. They don’t come on when I start the car some nights. When they shut off it’s hard to get them to turn back on. I’m twisting the knob multiple times to get them back on while driving.

The headlights and taillights are constantly going out on their own. Took car to dealership and they say it's fixed, but you don't leave the lot & the light is out again. Same issue has been happening since 2022. Driving on dark road and the lights just go out. This is definitely a safety issue that several people have complained about, but nothing is being done to rectify the situation. Car has been taken to dealership at least on 5 separate occasions. However, this last time they said there is no record of bringing the car for the lights. I even did a Google review. Why would the dealership not document service problems?

The stalk appears to be failing, specifically when lights set to auto. The most alarming aspect of this issue is when head (and maybe tail) lights go out entirely while driving [at night]. This has happened several times, at various speeds, drive times, vehicle occupancy, etc. Additionally, the head and tail lamps will turn on randomly when the car is off and locked. This can happen both hours or days after parking and has been the cause of replacing two batteries within two years.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
This very dangerous issue has happened at least 3 times. It happens in frequently but is terrible when it happens because at night you are put into immediate darkness with no warning. Upon flashing the high beams on or using the turn signal the headlights go dark/off. Then you need to restart the car. This is particularly dangerous when driving on dark or high traffic roads because the driver cannot see anything.
