- #11755448August 7, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I was driving our 2015 Jeep Wrangler on the highway probably going around 60MPH and had a deer run in front of her and had to brake suddenly. The jeep skidded and fish taled slightly before coming to a complete stop and I avoided hitting the deer. The ABS system did not work. Ironically, the ABS and Traction Control lights had come on occasionally but would then go off. It's hit or miss whether these lights come on when you start the vehicle. We took the jeep to Barnes Automotive in Westminster Maryland and they diagnosed that the ABS module (Part 68259556AE) was bad and needed to be replaced. They said they tested it by clearing the error, but then after driving it around town, the error would appear again. They informed me that there is a national shortage of the part and they estimated there is a 90 day backorder. I can't wait 3 months to not drive the vehicle so they let me know just to be aware the vehicle will be ok to drive but to know that it doesn't have ABS if I need to make any sudden stops. Sounds like a very common issue with Jeep Wranglers.

While driving my vehicle, I have noticed a significant decrease in power and a corresponding slowdown, particularly in traffic conditions. This has resulted in a near-miss collision with another vehicle in the rear. Furthermore, attempting to accelerate the vehicle has proven futile. ps. The dealer where I brought the vehicle is kinda giving me a hard time & I fear for my family safety. honestly I dont feel like the dealer was being completly honest.

Unresolved Death Wobble after four attempts, the vehicle has experienced the recurring death wobble, steering control issue that has been presented to the dealership 4 times for repair, despite the repair attempts the problem remains. Because the issue involves steering stability and control i no longer feel safe operating the vehicle. I am requesting this be documented as a safety issue

I have a C2200 diagnostic code for an internal fault on my ABS module. This is on a national backorder, and the Jeep dealership told me there in no current ETA. Therefore, I have been driving around with no ABS. Sometimes the transmission will surge or bog down causing erratic behaviors on the road which nearly led to me rear ending someone. I worry what will happen if I am ever forced to slam on the brakes in an emergency, but unfortunately, I have no choice but to continue driving it.

My 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe High Altitude received FCA Recall 68C. Since the recall was completed, the vehicle has experienced repeated and unpredictable reductions in available propulsion during normal driving. The problem is most noticeable when accelerating to merge onto highways, enter traffic, or pass slower vehicles. During these situations, I depress the accelerator expecting normal acceleration, but the vehicle frequently provides significantly reduced power. There is a noticeable delay before the gasoline engine produces sufficient propulsion, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate as expected for several seconds. Based on my experience, the condition is significantly worse during hot weather. As outside temperatures increase, the hesitation and reduction in available propulsion appear to occur more frequently and are more pronounced. This has caused me to lose confidence in the vehicle's ability to accelerate when needed. This condition creates a serious safety hazard because surrounding traffic continues at highway speeds while my vehicle is unable to accelerate as commanded. In [XXX], this hazard is particularly acute because many interstate and highway entrance ramps are relatively short, requiring drivers to accelerate quickly to merge safely into traffic traveling at highway speeds. When the vehicle unexpectedly limits propulsion or delays engaging the gasoline engine, there may not be sufficient distance to reach the speed necessary to merge safely, increasing the risk of a collision. The same issue also affects attempts to pass slower vehicles on two-lane highways, where timely acceleration is essential for safe operation. The vehicle does not display diagnostic trouble codes or warning messages when this occurs. Because no diagnostic codes are stored, I have not taken the vehicle to the dealer, as other owners have reported that dealerships are unable to identify or repair the condition in the absence of fault codes. The lack of diagnostic codes INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF IN

Vehicle total power loss while driving on the freeway, UNKNOWN cause. Vehicle will not turn off or turn on, shift gear locked. Seem to be a system communication between battery, transmission, ecu. Major safety risk while driving on the 3rd lane on the freeway driving 65mph with other vehicles around then sudden loss of power unable to accelarate. Was able to safely move to the shoulder and contacted AAA for towing to nearest dealership. Loss power and battery issues ongoing with same type model and year No other messages or symptoms prior to the problem occuring.

The harmonic balancer on the motor failed and flew off the motor causing catastrophic damage to the radiator. The failure resulted in immediate disabling of the vehicle, which could have happened at high speeds or on a highway with limited access. The part that flew off the motor was also a large piece of solid metal that luckily landed in the bumper cavity, but if it would have left the engine compartment, would most certainly be a fatal projectile. Once taking it to the dealership, they told me that this is a known problem with the Hemi 392 motor. Research shows this has been an issue since 2003 with this motor. The motor is found in several different Stellantis vehicles. There were no warning signs of the failure prior to it occurring.

As I was driving a service electronic stability control came up on my dash and I lost control of the vehicle. The brakes did not work and it was hard to steer. I almost hit a vehicle and the Jeep kept rolling until it stopped. Then I received an alert that the brakes did system, anti lock brake system, and Electronic Stability System failure. This is very scary my vehicle is a lease and they say they are fixing it but I’m very scared I will lose control of my Jeep while I’m driving.

Abs, brake, and traction control lights on. A jeep dealership was able to discern that the abs module is the cause and that part is on back order for months. In the meantime my vehicle is unfixable even if I were to find a used part from a donor vehicle.

ABS system module has failed and the manufacturer has it on indefinite backorder. I read reports of some customer waiting over 400 days for this part. It compromises the effectiveness of the antilock braking system. How do they get away with this?

I am writing to express my concern regarding the handling of the urgent safety recall affecting my Jeep Wrangler. This recall has been classified as an urgent fire and safety risk, yet no remedy is currently available. The recall notice stated that owners would receive notification regarding the remedy by July 9. As of today, August 4, I have not received any follow-up communication, and the NHTSA website continues to list the recall as unresolved with no available repair. I find it deeply concerning that a recall deemed urgent due to the potential risk of fire has remained without a remedy for approximately two months. Owners are expected to continue operating vehicles that have been identified as posing a serious safety hazard while having no meaningful way to mitigate that risk. This places consumers in an unreasonable position, especially those who rely on their vehicles for work and daily transportation. I respectfully request that NHTSA review whether the manufacturer is complying with its obligations under federal motor vehicle safety recall requirements. Given the severity of the identified risk, I also ask that NHTSA determine whether additional oversight or enforcement is warranted to ensure affected owners receive a timely remedy. Additionally, I ask NHTSA to consider whether the manufacturer should provide interim accommodations, such as loaner vehicles or rental reimbursement, while a permanent remedy remains unavailable. I respectfully request that this matter be escalated and that I receive an explanation for the continued delay, an estimated timeline for when a remedy will be available, and guidance for owners who are left with no practical way to address this known safety hazard. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Hood latches failed 3 days after vehicle purchase. Hood blew into the windshield obstructing my view at highway speeds. Dealership claims they are not responsible for damages as the vehicle was sold as is, but states the vehicle passed safety inspections and was able to be driven on public roads. Insurance company is currently investigating. No warning lamps upon incident.

Supplemental Safety Complaint — Post-68C Recall Throttle Non-Response and Loss of Drive Power — Case 11753417. Supplemental incident report referencing prior NHTSA complaint case number 11753417. August 2, 2026. 75°F ambient temperature, low humidity. Vehicle operated normal for approximately 15 electric miles at 40-55 mph, then with 7 miles remaining EV range, electric drive mode exhibited violent, random transitions to ICE engagement. Critical safety concern: pressing accelerator produced zero throttle response for 1-2 seconds during transitions at several intervals. Driver (spouse) felt unsafe. **This incident demonstrates the post-68C software behavior is triggered by both thermal conditions AND low battery state of charge — not temperature alone as previously documented. A throttle dead zone of 1-2 seconds during normal driving constitutes an unreasonable safety risk under federal standards, particularly during merging and intersection navigation. Requesting NHTSA investigate whether the 68C recall remedy introduced unaddressed safety defects affecting throttle response across the 4xe population.

Incident: On the morning of July 14, 2026, (rush hour), I was driving my 2015 Jeep (VIN [XXX]; approximately 28,000 miles) southbound on Interstate 75 toward Miami International Airport. I was traveling at approximately 75 mph when several dashboard warning lights suddenly illuminated: •Brake warning •ABS •Sway bar •Stability control •Transmission The Jeep speed dropped dramatically while the engine rpm increased sharply. The sudden deceleration caused a near pileup among the vehicles behind me, but no collision occurred. Aftermath: After the abrupt slowdown, the speedometer displayed no reading. To protect the engine, I continued operating the Jeep at 3 to 3500 rpm max, and an estimated speed of 20–25 mph. I was able to exit Interstate 75 a few miles from the initial incident and eventually reached Park 'N Fly near MIA Airport. Dealer Findings: Upon trip return on XXX, I took the Jeep to Bomnin Chrysler-Jeep (invoice XXX). The dealer advised me that: •The Jeep's ABS had failed. •The reduced-speed condition was a built-in "protective" feature known as “limp mode.” •The failed ABS module, part number 68259556, is reportedly a common issue in Jeep JK models. •Stellantis no longer manufactures with part. As a result, the Jeep became inoperable for normal use and had to be transported approximately 150 miles from XXX to my residence. Safety Concern and Requested Action: I was fortunate that the road was dry and that no semi-truck was immediately behind me. The passenger vehicles following me were able to react safely, preventing a collision. It is unacceptable that a component directly related to braking and vehicle stability is reportedly prone to failure, discontinued, and that a reliable alternate part does not exist. Given the seriousness of the failure and the sudden loss of speed it caused, I believe ABS module 68259556 should be investigated for a a potential safety recall covering the affected vehicles. The ABS module has failed and is apparently impossible to locate. I have been working with a mechanic for 8 months now, and both the dealership and MOPAR cannot provide a date for either a replacement solution or parts availability. This seems to be a widespread issue for the Wranglers from this period. Stellantis should at least provide an alternative. Thanks,

After Recall 68C was performed, the vehicle lost meaningful electric-only operation. This is not FORM. The gasoline engine now intervenes during routine Electric-mode driving with adequate charge. The dealer/manufacturer has not restored the vehicle’s advertised PHEV functionality. Visited dealer to document, and dealer did not charge vehicle and test to see. They instead scanned for codes and said no codes returned.
