While driving on a highway around 70 MPH upon traveling on a bumpy portion of roadway or a transition from an overpass back to roadway the steering starts to Shimmy extremely bad. The only way to get this to stop is pull over and bring the vehicle to a complete stop. I was almost killed when there was no shoulder available In a construction zone on [XXX] in Florida and I had to stop in the lane of traffic and was almost rear ended by a semi tractor trailer. I’ve made a complaint about this before. The dealer previously changed the steering damper but unfortunately the new damper is not the fix to this safety issue. Luckily I’m an experienced driver and a retired law enforcement officer and have calmness to work through this issue. If it was a young driver with little experience the outcome would be sadly different. Sooner or later I believe a fatality will occur due to this. My Jeep has a manual transmission and Jeep realized there was an issue with the clutch pressure plate back in 2023 where the issue can possibly lead to a fire. Every time we call about getting the issue fixed all we ever get is excuses. I think almost a year is plenty of time to have come up with a fix for the issue. Apparently our safety doesn’t mean a whole lot as we still have the issue and it doesn’t seem they’re in any hurry to find a fix.

There is an active parts recall for some Gladiators, Recall 26A, for the right rear axle shaft. This part on my vehicle has been failing for over 6 months. The ABS system, Traction Control, and 4WD system have active fault codes, preventing these systems from working as intended. In the last month, this problem has become unsafe due to 3 separate incidents where the traction control has triggered during normal driving conditions, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. In each of these incidents, I was travelling in a straight line, on dry roads, when the traction control system activated, preventing all acceleration to occur. In the first occurrence I was in a tunnel, and unable to pull over as there was no shoulder. This was driving in a straight line, accelerating up to about 15 mph before the traction control kicked in and disabled the drive train. Traffic was able to safely pass me while I coasted through the tunnel with my hazards on. Turning the vehicle off, then back on was the only way to cure this condition. The next 2 times were both at unprotected stop signs, meaning cross traffic did not have a stop sign. When I pulled out into the middle of the road, the traction control activated, causing the vehicle to lose forward momentum and power. One of these incidents, traffic did have to slow and alter course to account for my vehicles failure in the road. During the 6 months of the axle going out, the ABS system triggers at intermittent times during normal driving/braking conditions. I have tried working with the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, and with Chrysler directly. Both parties deflect responsibility to the other, stating there is no way to help escalate these problems because they are a recall item. I have been directed to wait for parts and to continue driving the vehicle, despite it seeming like a safety risk.

This vehicle has around 8000 miles on it. While driving at highways speeds, several times the steering would start to wobble violently. Normally after hitting a small bump in the road. After researching this was called a death wobble. The vehicle is stock and has not been modified. Has jeep issued a remedy?

Heavy vibration in steering wheel when hit bumps at highway speeds. This started in Nov 2022 when the Jeep was 5 months old. The dealer replaced the steering damper under warranty. It happened again in the summer of 2023. The steering damper was replaced again. It continues to happen and is now at the dealer for the fifth time with the same issue. The dealership confirms the condition reported each time. They do not know how to fix it and suggest new tires as the Bridgestones that came on the vehicle may be causing this issue. No modifications were made to any of these components. It has the original suspension and tires that came with it when purchased new in June 2022.

Headlights on new Jeep vehicles are terribly bright and poorly aimed so that they blind all oncoming traffic. There are many other newer vehicles with similar problems, but Jeeps seems to be the worst, along with Dodge Ram pickups. Please do something about getting laws passed to require proper aiming of headlights. The new HID and LED lights are obnoxious enough when they are aimed properly and there is a tiny change in elevation of the road. But if you drive down a flat country highway, you can easily see 1 out of 10 cars coming at you with much brighter lights than all the others. This should be illegal and those cars should be banned from the road until the problem is fixed.

Each time I drive my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Diesel over 55-60mph, I experience the 'death wobble' and i have to brake /slow down to under 50mph before it will stop. This is really dangerous on the Atlanta highways where people are driving far in excess of 60mph and tend to tailgate & change lanes quickly. When I first bought the truck, I didn't experience this but in the past year, it has been happening pretty much every time I drive on the highway (which I avoid now). The most recent time was the WORST, which is prompting this complaint.

This Jeep has the death wobble. When you’re going 70+ miles an hour and hit a bump. It violently shakes and you have to slow down to 55 quickly for it to stop. This has been an ongoing issue and I have even put a new set of tires on and it’s continued. This is a known issue but there’s not been a recall. I had a previous 2012 Jeep and it did the death wobble on that as well.

At 5,700 miles on my 2023 Gladiator the drivers side rear brake caliper bolt fell out. This created a loud bangin inside the wheel and damaged the wheel as well. Upon stopping the caliper pivoted and lodged into the wheel not allowing me to back up.

Clutch has overheated during routine maneuvers with a distinctive punjent odor and smoke. According to the recall notice, the clutch pressure plate can overheat which may result in cracks in the transmission case allowing heated debris to be expelled from the transmission case. "Heated debris expelled from the transmission bell housing may come in contact with an ignition source in the vehicle or surrounding area, potentially leading to a fire. A fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle." Concerned for our safety, we replaced the clutch but have been refused reimbursement.

I was driving when suddenly I got a message that said “service shifter” I got it 4 times flashing and suddenly I lost steering power, it got hard and couldn’t move the steering wheel and I almost crashed, this has happened many times and when I took it to the dealer ship they said “‘nothing was found” when clearly I have proof of the messages and I have witness”s that have been with me when it’s happened, twice I almost crashed. I’m scared to even drive the truck now.
