My 2016 Honda Odyssey has experienced repeated engine misfires associated with oil-fouled spark plugs. In May 2024, while driving, the check-engine light began flashing and the vehicle ran rough. An authorized Honda dealer inspected the vehicle and documented an oil-fouled spark plug. The dealer replaced all six spark plugs, but the underlying cause was not repaired. In November 2025, the check-engine light returned. An independent repair shop documented code P0303, Cylinder 3 Misfire, and replaced all six spark plugs again. In August 2026, the same problem returned. The repair shop again documented a Cylinder 3 misfire and found all three rear-bank spark plugs fouled. They recommended an internal engine inspection because repeated spark-plug replacement was not correcting the underlying problem. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized Honda dealer, which recommended an engine piston-ring/re-ring repair. The recurring misfire causes the vehicle to run rough and the check-engine light to flash, creating concern about loss of engine performance while driving. The vehicle and engine are available for inspection.

Engine won't start. This problem began as intermittent no start after driving for more than 30 minutes in hot weather. Such as stopping for fuel or a roadside rest on the interstate. It has progressed to intermittent no start in the mornings, or after work. Or after short drives for errands. Vehicle has been evaluated by the Honda Service Center. They stated they couldn't reproduce the problem, but it is a known problem. They also stated that there isn't any parts available. And there won't be any parts available until January 2027 or later. I asked what's my options, this car isn't reliable and it's going to leave my family stranded. The service center told us to not use AIS (Auto idle stop) We haven't used it since we bought it. No loaner, rental or other options. No replacement parts for 5-6 months isn't acceptable. This vehicle only has 20,000 miles and is 18 months old

The vehicle doors have given issues where they open when attempting to close. The doors will start closing and then reopen or don’t close at all. We’ve had this van for about a year and started having this issue early on. Upon searching online, it was discovered that are many instances where door issues have occurred and a site found to further support this but my VIN was not listed even though the same issue occurs. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/honda-odyssey-minivan-recalled-over-problem-with-sliding-doors/#:~:text=Honda%20is%20recalling%20107%2C000%20of%20its%202018%20and%202019%20Odyssey%20minivans%20because%20its%20power%20sliding%20doors%20may%20not%20latch%20properly%2C%20raising%20the%20possibility%20that%20they%20could%20open%20while%20the%20vehicle%20is%20in%20motion%2C%20according%20to%20the%20National%20Highway%20Traffic%20Safety%20Administration.%20According%20to%20Honda%2C%20some%20components%20in%20the%20power%20sliding%20door%27s%20rear%20latch%20assembly%20are%20prone%20to%20sticking%2C%20which%20can%20stop%20the%20front%20and%20rear%20latches%20from%20securely%20connecting.%20This%20problem%20affects%20the%20left%20and%20right%20power%20sliding%20doors%2C%20Honda%20says.

- #11767300September 27, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
One morning, with no prior issues, we started driving our van and it suddenly displayed several warning lights, including brake system, adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. We took it to Darcars Honda in Bowie, MD who diagnosed it as a front facing camera failure. The dealer replaced the camera and kept the old one. This failure in a six year old van increased the danger of collision while operating the vehicle.

My vehicle suddenly developed multiple warning messages at the same time, including: Brake System, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Auto High-Beam. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Honda dealership for diagnosis. The dealership determined that the front-view/multipurpose camera was short-circuiting/failing and needed to be replaced and calibrated. This concerns me as a potential safety defect because a failure of a single camera caused multiple Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistance systems to become unavailable simultaneously. I am concerned that the premature failure of the front-view camera may represent a recurring safety-related defect affecting other 2019 Honda Odyssey vehicles. A failure of this component can potentially leaving drivers without safety functions they may normally rely upon. Additionally, Honda Customer Relations told me that several customers had contacted Honda about the issue, and the dealership told me that it had replaced front cameras on numerous customers' vehicles for the same problem. I understand that Honda has issued a separate recall involving the rearview camera on certain 2019–2020 Odyssey vehicles. I understand that the rearview camera involved in that recall is different from the front-view camera that failed on my vehicle. I mention this only as additional context because both involve camera-related components on the same generation of Odyssey. I respectfully request that NHTSA review consumer complaints and other available information concerning front-view/multipurpose camera failure on 2019 Honda Odyssey vehicles to determine whether there is a safety-related defect trend.

With auto idle stop enabled, the engine frequently fails to restart upon brake release. To restart the engine, I have to turn the car off and back on again using the engine start button. This has happened many times at traffic lights if I forget to disable the auto idle stop. Twice in the last month I have almost been hit by the car behind. The Honda dealership was unable to recreate the issue. It is apparent that many other new model Honda Odysseys are also experiencing this same issue from an online search, leading me to suspect Honda has a hazardous design deficiency.

The auto idle start when I am at a red light it will turn off and put it in park. I have to restart the van and put it back in drive. I believe this to be a safety issue. I have my kids with me and its dangerous. I would like to know what can be done and why hasn't this been a recall. I have to remember to push the auto idle button each time I get in to drive otherwise Im afraid ill get stranded at an intersection. Its been going on for at least a year and the dealership thought it was the battery we have replaced the battery so that is not the issue.

The Auto Idle Stop (AIS) failed to work properly for my wife when she was stopped at a stoplight. When she stopped at a stoplight the engine stopped. When she took her foot off the break and applied pressure on the gas pedal a warning of some sort showed on the screen where the speedometer is and the car failed to restart and move forward. This caused a hazard because the people behind her lurched forward because they assumed she would move forward once the light turned green. When our car failed to start she wasn't sure what to do to fix the problem so all the cars backed up behind her for a short time before she realized she needed to put our car in park, turn it off and then restart the engine. I will take my car in to the dealer as soon as possible. Until then we will have to disengage the auto stop function so prevent any further dangerous incidents.

Safety Concern: Severe Transmission Lag and Hesitation on Honda 9-Speed Vehicles. The Honda 9-speed automatic transmission exhibits dangerous downshifting hesitation and delayed shifting while cruising at highway speeds. When attempting to pass another vehicle or accelerate quickly for extra power, the transmission frequently experiences a severe lag, causing a total lack of throttle response (a "no response" mode). This sudden loss of acceleration at highway speeds is highly alarming and significantly increases the risk of a rear-end or overtaking collision, creating an immediate safety hazard for the driver and other motorists.

I believe it is the WINDSHIELD MONOCULAR MULTIPURPOSE LKAS ACC CAMERA. This sensor has malfunctioned for the past two moths and I've tried everything to fix it short of replacing it, which is ridiculously expensive. This is such a common problem on this make/year of vehicle. My car only has 75,000 miles on it.

The issue is that auto-idle intermittently does not restart. There have been multiple instances when the car has failed to restart after auto-idle, and most recently, this happened in the middle of the day on a very busy road at a red light. Stopped at the red light, the auto-idle turned the car off and it did not restart. I had to sit with the vehicle until I was able to get it restarted, which took about 4 minutes. Being on such a busy road, it caused a traffic backup with other vehicles having to move from behind me, causing others to swerve into other lanes and also drivers approaching to slam on brakes. As for warning light-there are none until the car stalls, and then every warning lights seems to come on. At that point, the warning lights are useless as the issue has already occurred without warning, causing an immediate safety risk to me, as well as drivers around me. We took the car to the dealer, which said they have had to repair multiple vehicles of the same make and model for this very issue. We had to pay for the full repair, as the car is recently out of the warranty coverage.

After the MOST/FAKRA recall (NHTSA 23V-431) was completed, the center display showed a MOST bus/network loss message, then the infotainment system went dead and will not power on. The dealer would like 1800$ to repair this already "repaired" safety system. The rearview screen is unavailable when the screen is blank which is the same FMVSS 111 rear visibility failure the recall was issued to correct. TSB 20-049 describes the same network loss/ display condition. The recall repair did not permanently fix the MOST ring.

2019 Honda Odyssey VIN: [XXX] The same passenger-side door window on my 2019 Honda Odyssey has spontaneously shattered on two separate occasions. There was no known collision or impact that would explain the repeated failure. Because the same window has now shattered twice, I am concerned there may be an underlying issue involving the glass, door/window assembly, regulator, alignment, or stress being placed on the glass. This window is immediately beside the seating position normally occupied by my young daughter. Fortunately, she was not sitting in that position when either incident occurred. I am concerned about the potential for injury from shattered glass if another failure occurs while a child is sitting there or while the vehicle is being driven. The repeated failure of the same window makes me concerned that simply replacing the glass does not address the underlying cause. I am reporting this so NHTSA has a record of the repeated failure and can determine whether similar incidents have been reported involving 2019 Honda Odyssey vehicles or related models. Photographs and documentation of the failures are available. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my Honda's Auto Idle Stop/Start system. On multiple occasions, while stopped in traffic or at an intersection, the Auto Idle Stop system has automatically shut off the engine as designed. However, when I release the brake and attempt to proceed, the engine fails to restart. The vehicle becomes stalled and immobilized in the middle of active traffic. I have been stuck at traffic intersections because of this failure, creating a significant safety concern. When the vehicle fails to restart, surrounding traffic expects the vehicle to move when the light changes, while I am unable to accelerate or safely clear the intersection. This creates a risk of a collision, particularly from vehicles approaching from behind.

- #11766684September 24, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
We recently moved from [XXX] to [XXX]. The first time driving down a mountain the vehicle violently shook when applying the brakes to keep the speed under control. Upon taking it to a Honda service location, the technician revealed hot spots on both front brake rotors. The van has only 21319 miles, and the rotors needed to be replaced with new rotors to make the vehicle safe. The service representative refused to file a warranty claim with Honda because he said “rotors are a wear-and-tear item.” The warranty states bumper-to-bumper coverage for 3 years, or 36000 miles, but does not cover normal wear-and-tear. These hot spots were not normal wear-and-tear. Nonetheless, the representative refused to file a warranty claim unless I was willing to leave the car at their shop for 48 hours or more while they wait for a response, and emphasized that “I’ve never seen Honda accept this claim.” Upon further review of the brake specs, it seems that Honda uses cast-iron OEM rotors which may not be suitable for normal wear-and-tear for a 6000 lb vehicle. To make matters worse, the new OEM brakes are only warrantied for 12 months/12000 miles whereas a non-Honda service station would have installed a heavy-duty brake for less cost and also warrantied it for 3 years/36000 miles. Today 09/24/2026 while stopped at a traffic light the car lost all electrical power and blacked out while in auto-idle stop. Last week while driving the middle electrical screen went dark. After a few minutes while driving the H symbol appeared on the display and the screen reloaded.

The power liftgate is no longer working and locked shut a few hours after multiple warning messages. There was heavy rain that night. It did randomly open and shut all or part of the way before that, sometimes after closing. This often happened after heavy rain when the van was not even in use. It could have popped open at any time, and then warning messages popped up and blocked the notifications and other dashboard information and distracted the driver. It was confirmed by the dealer and they recommended it get replaced, however, the electrical panel was corroded by water damage from a suspected leak in the roof rail. The dealer said that it would probably happen again and not to get it fixed until the leak was determined. Many others have reported this online regarding the Odyssey.

I am reporting a severe engine issue on my 2019 Honda Odyssey that matches the exact failure profile of NHTSA Recall 23V-751 and the ongoing investigation PE25008 / RQ24-013. While driving, the vehicle randomly began experiencing a loud, progressive metallic knocking and ticking noise from the engine, sometimes it was a squeal, the engine stalled while in motion and wouldn't drive anymore. This presents a severe safety hazard, as an unexpected engine stall or failure while driving increases the risk of a crash. My VIN currently shows as "excluded" from Recall 23V-751. However, given that this vehicle has the exact same 3.5L V6 engine and is exhibiting the textbook symptoms of premature connecting rod bearing wear and crankshaft-related failure, I request that the NHTSA review this case to expand the recall parameters to include my vehicle batch.
