The vehicle came to a complete stop at a stoplight at a busy intersection and the Auto Idle Stop feature engaged. When the brake was released to resume driving, the engine struggled to restart, and then stalled completely in the middle of traffic. The vehicle did not automatically restart upon releasing the brake, and had to be placed into park, turned off completely, and then restarted manually to regain vehicle control. This has happened several times. There have also been instances where the vehicle did not stall completely, but bucked violently when the Auto Idle Stop feature restarted the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2021 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the radio displayed a blank screen. In addition, the contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera turned on and off. Additionally, there was a cracking sound coming from the speakers. The dealer was contacted by phone and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with rear-view camera failure. The contact was informed that an unknown recall repair was completed in 2023. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty, and a diagnostic test was suggested. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed, and a split wire was found behind the radio. The manufacturer was contacted by phone, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 34,100.

The driver’s-side power sliding door cable failed suddenly while the vehicle was parked on a hill. The failure caused the sliding door to close on me with significant force and caused the vehicle to continuously alarm. The vehicle was taken to a local Honda dealership, where the issue was diagnosed and repaired. Because the repair was necessary to make the vehicle operable, the failed component may no longer be available for inspection. The dealership’s repair order, diagnosis, invoices, and other documentation are available upon request. The failed power sliding door cable caused the driver’s-side sliding door to close suddenly and forcefully while the vehicle was parked on a hill. This presented a significant injury risk. The potential consequences would have been particularly serious if my child had been standing in the doorway when the failure occurred. In addition, the vehicle continuously alarmed after the failure and could not be operated normally until the repair was completed. The vehicle was taken to a local Honda dealership, which assessed and repaired the failed power sliding door cable. The dealership’s repair order and related documentation can be provided to confirm the diagnosis and repair. The vehicle was inspected by the local Honda dealership. I requested that American Honda review the diagnosis and repair documentation. They deny any faults on their end and refuse further assistance regarding this matter. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other indications that I was aware of before the power sliding door cable failed. There was no indication to me as the vehicle owner that the cable required replacement or was approaching failure. The first indication of a problem occurred when the cable failed suddenly, causing the sliding door to close with significant force, since I was parked at an incline. After the failure, the vehicle continuously alarmed and could not be operated normally until the repair was completed.

I’ll be at a red light and when it’s time to go the car is off and I have to put on the emergency lights until I get car on usually after three times of pressing the brake and pushing the start button. The car shuts off while idling at a red light and does not turn back on when brake is released.

- #11768205September 30, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
6 months after purchasing our 2019 Honda Odyssey we got warning that popped up about lane departure, collision and cruise control not being able to work properly. When we took it in we were told it was our front camera and it needed to be replaced and recalibrated. It would come to almost $3000 total. It has started to work for a couple of hours 3 times now. We bought this vehicle for it's safety features for our large family, not sure we will get another Odyssey after our issues with this one.

- #11767627September 29, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
At approximately 52,000 miles, my 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite developed multiple simultaneous warning messages indicating problems with the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Autio High Beam and Road Departure Mitigation system.. with Break Assist light on. The vehicle was taken to a Honda dealership, where the problem was reproduced and diagnosed as a failure of the front windshield-mounted multipurpose camera used by the Honda Sensing system. The dealer recommended replacement of the camera and quoted approximately $2,350 for the repair, including calibration. The failure disables several driver-assistance and collision-avoidance functions at the same time, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, road departure mitigation, and collision mitigation braking. I am concerned that the simultaneous loss of these safety systems could increase the risk of a crash, particularly if a driver is relying on the systems when the failure occurs. There was no collision or known physical damage to the camera prior to the failure. The warning messages appeared on the instrument panel when the malfunction occurred. The dealer has confirmed the camera failure. The vehicle has not otherwise been inspected by police or insurance representatives. The failed component is currently still installed in the vehicle and should be available for inspection upon request unless it is replaced during repair. I am submitting this complaint because a safety-critical camera component failed at relatively low mileage and simultaneously disabled multiple Honda Sensing safety systems. Worth mentioning, the rear camera system was recalled and was replaced given that failure and this camera failing around the exact same time I fear that this camera failed due to a manufacturing problem. The dealer confirmed that my rear camera was effected by the recall.

When I go from a dead stop, it 7/10 times has a long hesitation before going. Sometimes its up to 5 seconds of hesitation. I've almost been hit crossing oncoming traffic. I have mentioned it to the Honda mechanics who say they don't see it when testing. I'm always afraid it's going to stall. Also, sometimes when I let off of the gas it almost feels like a brake is being applied as I approach a stop. I've changed the transmission fluid and used gas additives to no avail. I see some models of odyssey had a recall for this but for some reason not mine.

On September 25, 2026, I was stopped at a traffic light in my 2025 Honda Odyssey when the automatic idle stop activated. I was at a busy intersection with a line of cars behind me. When the light turned green, I took my foot off the brake and pressed the accelerator, but the vehicle shut off. I tried several times to restart the vehicle but was unsuccessful. It took several minutes before I was finally able to get the vehicle started again. During that time, I had a line of cars behind me waiting for me to move. Being stuck at a busy intersection with a vehicle that would not restart was very unsafe. I was concerned that a vehicle behind me could hit me because I was unable to move when the light changed. There were no warning lights or messages before this happened. This has never happened before. There was no accident or injury, and the vehicle is available for inspection. I have an appointment with a Honda dealership on October 9, 2026, to have the automatic idle stop failure investigated.

- #11767796September 29, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
In April of 2025 I had my vehicle towed to O"Donnell Honda because my car was sputtering and inoperable after getting gas a few min prior. The ran codes and got back PO300 PO3054 and PO306 misfires and unknown to me there was an active warranty recall on the fuel injectors. At this time I was withing the warranty period. The dealership told me that I got bad gas and their was nothing wrong with my car. I have spent the last 16 months taking my car back and forth to the dealer trying to figure out what this intermitent problem was with my car. I have at least three visits to the dealer and multiple phone calls with honda over this time. In addition to emails. Most times the code would disappear before I could make it to the dealer. I have also spoken to honda corporate and they have never mentioned this warranty until yesterday I had the issue again and they said it was my fuel injectors and want me to pay $2000 to repair it despite this being a known issues since 4/2025 when my car was withing the warraty period. They said they had no obligation to fix it back in May because they could not recreate the problem but that is not true according to their 21-010 Defect service bulletin. It specifically states they were to replace the fuel injectors. I have documentation to prove all of this. I have spent month and put out additional money on a situation that thye dealership refused to replace a known, warranty-extended safety defect that was officially scanned and documented prior to the 150,000-mile expiration window

> While driving our Honda Odyssey, we have experienced a recurring and extremely serious safety issue involving the vehicle’s Auto Idle Stop/Auto Stop feature. When the vehicle comes to a stop at an intersection, the system automatically shuts the engine off as designed. However, on multiple occasions, when it is time to proceed, the vehicle has failed to restart. The engine remains off and we are unable to immediately get the vehicle restarted or move it out of the roadway. > > **This is not an isolated incident. This problem has occurred frequently and has recently begun occurring with increasing frequency.** We are extremely concerned that the condition is becoming progressively worse and that we cannot predict when the vehicle will fail to restart after the Auto Idle Stop system activates. > > During one particularly serious incident, the vehicle failed to restart while we were stopped at an intersection. When the traffic signal turned green, our Honda Odyssey remained disabled in the active traffic lane. We attempted to restart the vehicle but could not immediately get it running or move it to a safe location. > > This created an extremely dangerous situation. A vehicle approaching us from behind nearly rear-ended our stopped van. The approaching driver swerved at the last moment and thankfully avoided striking our vehicle, but subsequently crashed their own vehicle. Had that driver not been able to avoid us, we believe this could have resulted in a very serious rear-end collision, significant injuries, or fatalities. > > Because this problem has happened repeatedly and appears to be occurring more frequently, **we have also contacted the Honda dealership, Penske Honda on 96th Street in Indianapolis.

Vehicle intermittently failed to start. On one occasion following an Auto Idle Stop event, the restart was difficult (details in the "additional details" field). The vehicle did not restart as intended after disengaging the brake from Auto Idle Stop and manually restarted causing a several second delay in the roadway. On another occasion, after filling for gas, the engine cranked normally but did not start on the first attempt and started normally on the second attempt. Honda dealer diagnosed a defective starter and is replacing under warranty. Replacement starter is currently on national back order. Vehicle is included in NHTSA's active investigation (EA25004) regarding Odyssey starting/no-restart issues. General Guidelines responses: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -Starter, available upon request until replaced by dealer How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -The delay in the roadway could have caused an accident (to me and others) when the vehicle failed to start as intended after the brake was disengaged Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -Dealer has confirmed there is an issue with the starter and will be replacing it under warranty when it is available from back order Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -Only the dealer Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -No prior warning. However, the vehicle does sound "rougher" when it cranks as opposed to my other vehicle now that I'm comparing the two. Restart issues first occurred within the last week.

Several dozen times now the vehicle’s engine shuts off at a stop via the auto engine stop system when depressing the brake. When releasing the break, the car engine doesn’t restart. It requires putting the car into park, turning off the car via the ignition button, and turning it back on. This has happened 5 times at a busy intersection, and people start honking. Now when it happens, I need to put the emergency blinkers on before starting the entire restart process. I try to press the auto engine shutoff button when I turn the car on so this doesn’t happen, but I often forget. There should be an easy way to disable this incredibly unsafe feature, considering we usually have young children passengers.
