While on a 5 hour trip on the freeway/highway, when following a right curve, my steering wheel hesitated before returning to the left as the curve straightened out. This occurred at every significant right curve for the duration of the drive. It does not happen at less than 60 MPH.

Steering feels notchy when turning. Steering sticks and you have to add more force into steering input at certain times (than other times/normal) when the vehicle is in motion.

Problem with car was first noticed around 16,300 miles. The severity of the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it happens about 15- 20 times in a mile and at other times just a few. The steering wheel is pulled to the right when not steering in that direction. It almost feels like the lane assist is on, but it is not. Also, when backing out of a parking spot and the wheel is pulled at a sharp angle there is a creaking sound and the steering wheel has intermittent resistance. The car was brought to a Honda service center at 16,598 and they could not reproduce the problem until I drove the car with them and then they agreed that there is a problem. I was told it needs a gearbox/motor set, which is on backorder. I was told that I could still drive my car.

Steering wheel becomes "jerky" and sticks, then suddenly releases causing car to move quickly in one direction. Difficult to keep in place. Also makes loud popping sound when turning. This can cause car to come in contact with whatever is beside you, a car in another lane, or a barrier or ditch on the opposite side. This can obviously cause an accident putting driver and passengers in danger and also those not in the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer I purchased the car from and they have stated it is unsafe for highway travel. They said I could drive around town, but that prohibits my driving to other areas. Also, feels unsafe driving even locally. They have ordered new system but says part is on backorder and they don't know when it will be in. There were no warning lights regarding this issue. Car has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or others, just the Honda dealer where purchased.

Since approximately 5K to 10K miles on the car, the steering has been "sticky." I mean the steering seems to have discreet sticky points or detents when trying to turn the steering wheel, as if the steering system is fighting me from turning the wheel. It is like this both when parked and when driving. When parked, there seems to be a noticeable looseness in the steering when turning the steering wheel either direction, and also has these sticky detents when turning the wheel. Same thing when driving at all speeds. It seems to be getting worse. It is so noticeable that I (and any passengers) can hear it when trying to turn the wheel. At some point, I think the car might start getting unsafe to drive like this if it continues to get worse. The car was written up at the purchasing dealer (John Eagle Honda of Dallas TX) around 11K miles and some time around October 2023, but at that time they claimed that they could not reproduce the problem. So I got an oil change that was due and moved on, thinking it might go away on its own. I wrote the car up again at the same dealership on {XXX}, 2024 at 24,656 miles, and this time they were able to reproduce the problem and wrote it up properly. It has now been nearly three months since then, and the part (steering rack assembly and gearbox) has been on backorder with indeterminate ETA. As of this writing, the car has about 32K miles on it, and I continue to have to drive this car with faulty steering. Have dealt with oil dilution the life of this vehicle, around 63K miles all lights lit up in the dash disabling ALL safety features. For a while this issue would come and go and the lights would clear,CEL included. Brought into Honda for a diagnosis and they state that the vehicle needs new fuel injectors. Due to the CEL from the fuel Injectors it disables ALL safety features therefore putting the driver and others on the road at risk.

- #11588799May 14, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving on a 4 lane road on a sunny day, the vehicle detected an imminent collision ahead on a clear-road. The CRV did a hard-brake bringing the speed from around 40 MPH to 20 MPH. If a car had been directly behind us, the chance of a collision would have been high because it was very unexpected place to brake. This component has not been investigated by Honda yet - I'm reporting it first here. I have dash-cam footage I can provide but do not see a place to upload that on this form.

Not sure its a safety issue but we have a hitch in our steering. It seems to stick as you are driving which is a little unnerving while driving. I saw online that NHSTA is looking into this issue but appears no recall has been issued. Just wanted to add our name to the list of concerned owners. Thank you for your time regarding this issue. Reported “sticky steering” situation to dealer on Feb. 8 2024. Dealer test drove vehicle and confirmed that there is an issue and that vehicle will need a steering rack replacement. The service manager assured me that this was not a safety issue and that it would be ok to continue driving the vehicle. They said they would order it and that it is on back order and should be available in March 2024. March came and went and in early April I contacted service at my local dealer and was advised that parts were still on back order and that they would notify me as soon as they came in. On April 19, 2024 I spoke with the manager at my dealership and advised him that we were very annoyed with the situation and no longer felt safe in continuing to drive the vehicle. When driving, particularly at highway speeds, it required constant adjustment to the steering wheel in order to keep the vehicle in the lane. My wife, who is the principal driver, is now so fearful that she refuses to drive it. The manager was very understanding and cooperative and arranged for us to pick up a loaner the very next day. We have now had the loaner for 24 days with no resolution in sight. Although the loaner is a 2024 CR-V, is is a much less well equipped vehicle than the vehicle we purchased. Meaning it does not have nearly all of the safety or convenience features that we paid for in the original vehicle. We are aware that this is a widespread issue with certain Honda vehicles and are very disappointed with the lack of concern/corrective action by the manufacturer.

Steering sticks significantly when turning left, I have to use force to correct the steering when it sticks. On the highway any left steering adjustments from wind or lane changes the steering sticks and I have to pull right on the steering wheel to correct the issue. This is not safe at all

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred on two other occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the turbocharger was damaged due to a bolt intrusion. The dealer later informed the contact that while test-driving the vehicle, the failure recurred, and the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The dealer determined that the turbo shaft was fractured. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the dealer report indicated that the engine oil was dirty, and the contact did not have all the oil change receipts available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Honda Engine Oil Dilution Drivability Concerns Warranty Extension. The failure mileage was unknown.

The VTC Actuator in several Honda vehicle models from between 2011 and 2015 are known to be defective (as per Honda's technician bulletins). The defective part damages the internal engine components responsible for ensuring the engine's timing. Honda has refused to issue recalls to address this issue faced by millions of Honda vehicle owners. Honda has known about this issue since at least 2011. Honda released a replacement VTC Actuator but the replacement has also been shown to be defective. The issue can cost upwards of $2,000 to repair and Honda continues to sell vehicles with this defect without notifying prospective buyers. I would not have purchased my 2013 Honda CR-V in January, 2024 had I been notified of this serious defect. Please see the attached file for more information.

EPS gearbox. When entering into a turn the steering wheel gets stuck and requires additional force to pull wheel out of the turn for both left turns and right turns. The risk of overcorrecting or being unable to return the wheel to a forward direction is a major risk to the driver and to others. The vehicle is uncomfortable to drive due to the unpredictability of the sticking steering. The more severe the turn the more sticky the steering. The issue seems to be progressing over time since it was first noticed (May 2024; vehicle purchased Aug 2021). The vehicle was taken to the Honda service center for diagnosis; however, there were no warning lamps or messages triggered by the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by the service technician with the recommendation to replace the EPS gearbox assembly. The observations by the technician were "The EPS steering assist is not performing correctly on left turns. Checked suspension for binding. No damage found. Gearbox assembly will need to be replaced". The vehicle is a 2021 Honda CR-V with 42,000 miles (Honda warranty 3 YR/36,000 miles). The Honda service center initially placed responsibility on customer to repair at a cost of approx $4,000. This case has still not been settled and no authorization for repair has been agreed upon.
