My transmission is shifting gears on its own. Sometimes it will downshift and other times it will shift up. Ford denies this problem and wants to replace it for $8000.

Upon cranking the truck the cam phasers make a rattling noise. The issue is the same as it is in the recall 21B10 that affects the F-150's but excludes the Raptor.

While driving vehicle at 60 mph transmission shifted unexpectedly to a lower gear increasing the rpm’s on engine. Vehicle transmission would not operate normally after this incident. The orange colored warning “ wrench” symbol instantly came on after this incident. I drove truck to a Ford Dealership that was close by and they replaced the lead frame component on the truck . See attachment for details of repair . This appears to have corrected the issue with the transmission.

- #11651205March 27, 2025VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
On [XXX], about 20 minutes into my 30-minute commute, while driving at highway speed, my trucks transmission suddenly downshifted dramatically, jerking and throwing me forward in my seat and causing the truck to slow down so abruptly that I was almost rear ended, putting drivers around and behind me at risk of high-speed collisions. Less than 5 minutes later it happened a second time. This is the exact same abrupt transmission downshift issue that happened to me in this vehicle a few times before in early 2024. I received a Safety Recall notice on this known issue about a week after the first incident in 2024. I took my vehicle into the AutoNation Ford Dealer in Littleton, Colorado immediately after I received that notice and they supposedly 'fixed' the issue under the recall 24S37. Obviously, the issue has not been resolved. I am asking for a deeper look into the safety issue as I am sure I am not the only one this is happening to. I am also concerned that there were no warning lamps or messages that would indicate a problem that needed to be addressed! The truck is currently back at the AutoNation Ford Dealer in Littleton and is available for inspection. They are telling me there is no current recall for this issue. How can that be true if it’s the exact same problem and their Safety Recall ‘repair’ didn’t work? I believe the repair was just a software patch, but I can’t be sure. Can you please help me find out what the recall (24S37) was supposed to fix and why it didn’t fix the problem? Their suggestion now is to replace the Valve Body with a cost of $2,554.63 (in addition to a $219.95 diagnostic fee). My concern is that even this expensive repair might not actually solve the problem, and I am truly afraid to drive this vehicle. There have been no warning lamps and the issue has been confirmed by my local Ford dealer. I am having a hard shifts slamming down in gear abruptly. In addition between seventh and eighth gear either the computer or transmission doesn’t know which one to be in and the truck begins to shudder sometimes violently. This occurs when attempting to pass at hwy speeds. When you’re next to another vehicle it has led to Multiple near costly incidence. I don’t have confidence passing in this vehicle or towing. The gears slamming down are painful as a passenger.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera failed to display an image, compromising the backup prevention system. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the rear-view camera. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 29,000.

10 Speed Transmission has very harsh shifting when accelerating as well as when downshifting. Dealer has looked at it and have been told over and over that it is normal. When downshifting there are time where the shifting creates a lunge affect making you feel that you are going to hit the car in front of you.

Truck while turning right or forward will for no reason goes into lost traction(dry road) and truck downshifts and loses power. Very dangerous as there is no warning and potentially can be hit from behind since no brake lights are engaged. Recently read article that other trucks of this year and make are having same issue. I have taken into shop and awaiting what is the problem.

Broken exhaust bolt on passenger manifold. Exhaust leak... Felt as though Carbon monoxide gas was entering cabin portion of truck. Smelling of exhaust in cabin of vehicle. Made wife and kids nauseated and lightheaded. Did research and found out that ford had a poorly designed manifolds and didn't utilize all exhaust bolts. In turn caused the #8 bolt to snap and manifold to warp and release exhaust fumes

After I purchased a RV and making the trip home, we went through several stop lights. As we were slowing down to make a stop at light, the vehicle made an abrupt downshift. Seemed like it was in fourth gear and went in to first or second gear. The vehicle jerked and the rpm went to around 6000. I thought my engine was going to blow up!! Scary and felt dangerous! Then it happened again approximately 10 miles down the road. I haven't experienced this since this date but I haven't pulled anything since then either. Please make this a recall. It isn't just the 2014 model. I have V8 5.0 6 speed transmission. Please help.

The truck wrench symbol showed up. The second time it showed the truck didn’t seem to shift correctly. It hesitated to progress in speed like usual, creating a situation that I could have been hit by cross traffic because it was moving at a lot slower speed than expected for trying to accelerate. I had ford inspect my vehicle for what might be working incorrectly and they couldn’t diagnose the issue. It has not acted up since I had it looked at. As far as I know they couldn’t determine what created the shifting problem and no course of action to repair it was taken.

Truck dropped into lower gears without notice from high speed (and at low speeds). Engine revs and actually speeds up without foot on gas pedal without warning. Speedometer will stop working when this happens also. Almost caused accident. Other similar vehicles from 2013-2019 are in recall for similar issues. Ford won't fix and says it is not an issue for this vehicle.

- #11650713March 26, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, POWER TRAIN
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 - 70 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly shifted into reverse. There was white smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle near the engine compartment. The contact depressed the brake pedal to assist with the vehicle slowing down to be able to pull over to the side of the road where the vehicle came to a stop. The vehicle lost power and failed to restart. The contact poured water onto the engine to assist with dissipating the smoke and cooling the engine. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle; however, the contact was unsure of the diagnostic results. The contact was informed that additional diagnostic tests were needed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.
