My 2023 Ford F-150 3.5 eco boost with 35,000 approx. started having issues about 2000 miles ago with the transmission. It tends to slip gears between 3-4, 4-5 and 9-10. Sometimes it isn’t bad but other times it feels like the transmission is going to drop out from the truck. I also have an issue where the truck shifts into neutral while driving but still displays it is in drive. This doesn’t happen often but 4 times now in 2,000 miles. When this occurs I can’t put the truck back into drive and go, I have to stop, turn off the engine and wait from 5-10 minutes before I can drive away. When these issues occur there is no check engine light and the dealer said there are no snapshots recorded.

Initially my transmission was rough (jerky) changing through 1,2,3 and 4. It then on occasion lost engagement as I was driving and happened a couple of times whilst trying to make a left hand turn across oncoming traffic. Finally the transmission went altogether and went into limp mode. I took the truck to the ford dealership and they informed me I needed a new transmission. They replaced the transmission. They replaced the transmission and told me I could come pick it up. Once I picked it up I started to drive home and the transmission liquid started to leak. They had to come pick up the truck on a flatbed and repair it once more. Once receiving the truck back for the second time I drove the truck but noticed a strange noise coming from the engine, so inspected and found the engine coolant to be empty. I was able to fill it up but the ford dealer requested I take it back for them to inspect. When I did they could not find anything wrong. Then on the [XXX] while driving from New Jersey to Baltimore the transmission started to act strange. The transmission lost power in 10th gear, then regained power, followed by a bang in the rear end from the drive shaft and the the rear wheels locked up in 10th Gear at 65mph on the interstate. The wheels then released the transmission overheated up to 240F degrees and oil started leaking from the transmission. I’m a single mother driving a 2016 Ford F-150, my only vehicle, while transporting small children daily. I’ve been experiencing sudden, violent shaking and unexpected downshifting while driving, especially at highway speeds. On more than one occasion, it has felt like the rear wheels try to lock, causing the entire truck to jolt and decelerate rapidly, putting my safety and the safety of my children at serious risk. I’ve taken the truck to the dealership and multiple independent mechanics, but no one can diagnose the issue because no error codes appear related to the transmission or shifting. The only code that comes up is for a faulty catalytic converter, but both catalytic converters have already been replaced. The dealership confirmed that the check engine light keeps coming on anyway, even though there’s no actual issue with the new parts. They said it’s as if the system is being triggered by something else, but they don’t know what. I was relieved to learn that NHTSA is investigating this exact issue in 2015–2017 F-150 models, because what I’m experiencing matches it exactly. I depend on this truck for everything, school drop-offs, groceries, and survival, and I have no backup vehicle. I am asking NHTSA to prioritize this investigation and take action. This is not just a transmission defect, it’s a public safety threat, and families like mine are being forced to drive dangerous vehicles simply because there’s no help yet. Please step in and hold Ford accountable before someone gets seriously hurt.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a recurring water intrusion issue with my vehicle, which poses a potential safety risk. Whenever it rains and the vehicle is parked outside, water consistently leaks into the passenger-side interior. While driving, especially during acceleration or braking, I can hear the sound of water moving within the passenger side area. Upon inspection, I have found water pooling in the front passenger footwell, where multiple electrical wires are located. Additionally, there is an electrical control box situated beneath the passenger seat that may also be exposed to moisture. I also discovered water leaking behind the rear seat area. This section contains two air vents, which may be contributing to the issue. The water intrusion raises serious concerns about electrical system integrity, especially given the presence of wiring and components in affected areas. Although my vehicle has not yet experienced electrical failure while driving, I am aware of multiple reports from other owners who have encountered similar leaks that led to sudden engine shutdowns, including while driving in traffic — a serious safety hazard. I brought my vehicle to the service center for evaluation, but as of now, I have not received any resolution or updates regarding a fix. I have several videos of the situation as well. Given the potential risk to both vehicle occupants and others on the road, I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this matter further to determine whether a recall or other safety action is warranted. Thank you for your attention to this serious issue.

- #11653801April 10, 2025VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
My brand new truck with 3500 miles when the cruise control is set to a speed the truck will randomly accelerate un commanded. This occurs when for no reason the cruise control will select 95 MPH if you at 75 MPH. It will do this at any speed selected. This uncommanded speed can occur multiple times within minutes or can late as long as 30 minutes. Also this uncommanded speed can also occur at lower speed set in the cruise control. This can only be corrected by hitting the brake. This is especially dangerous in traffic and on curves. This has happened in both places as well as on long stretches. I almost rear ended a car in front of me in traffic as I was going 55 and when the speed changed to 95 the truck floored the accelerator with full engine power.

On a regular and routine basis, the vehicle is known to have difficulty in shifting between 3rd and 5th gear. Often times, while shifting, the transmission will hesitate to shift before lurching into the next gear. The vehicle is equipped with a 10R80 transmission and has previously encountered issues with the Cam Phasers. Cam Phasers have been replaced, but no work has been performed on the transmission. Driver can replicate the issue on almost every drive.

When accelerating, the truck would stall, safety, yes was a problem. it would shift with a kick back and the engine would reve up, then maybe shift or just stall. the cabin would smell of burnt gas.

Sunroof was replaced under warranty due to track being broken. Now the sunroof is leaking and the shade will not open. There has been several recalls for sunroof issues. Dealership says my vin is not included. This seems to me to be a recall issue for safety. If the sunroof is broken it could cave in or fly off. Especially since it is leaking and won’t open and cannot see the problem. Dealership wants to charge me over $200 just to look at it. This is unacceptable.
