December 2024 I started experiencing intermittent down shifts from 6th to 3rd. First time was on a very icy road while towing two snowmobiles on a trailer causing it to jack knife and I spun out. Luckily no one else was on the road. After a brief search, I assumed the well know lead frame was the cause. Im a diy person so I ordered new parts and replaced the leadframe myself. I've driven over 10,000 since with no issues.

My truck abruptly downshifts to a lower gear, first or second, without any warning on the freeway. Seems like wheels lock up momentarily. There is nothing that notifies me before this happens. Very random occurrence but also very dangerous.

Vehicle is at 88k miles. Vehicle has hard shifting/delayed shifting between 1-3 and 5-7 gears. At highway speeds, vehicle tries to downshift from top gear. Have lost rpm's while driving-lasting about 3-5 seconds before engaging the gears again. Took to a dealer, was informed it was a "known" issue and would need the transmission replaced. Extended warranty will not cover since it is a known issue. No warning lamps or messages in the display center. The loss of rpm's and delayed shifting issues could cause stalling and put me and others at risk with possible loss of power/motion while moving. Especially while driving on the highway.

re: Safety Recall 25S82/NHTSA Recall 25V512. I received this recall notice in August, 2025. Never received any more info. I contacted the Ford dealer here on February 2, 2026. I was told the axle parts are still not available and it will be 6-8 more months which makes the total response time 11-13 months. I was put on a waiting list. In the meantime my pickup axle could fail causing a crash as outlined in the recall notice. Ford is not taking the recall serious. Please look into this situation as Ford is failing to do followup communication with the vehicle owners. My pickup rear axle is clicking and popping and rolls when in Park until the Parking Brake is applied. All symptoms as stated in the recall. I was driving to work early in the morning on [XXX], approximately 6:30 am, when all of suddenly i heard a loud bang and I could no longer accelerate my vehicle. I was fortunate enough to have the time to steer off to the shoulder of the highway. I got out of my vechile and my drive shaft was hanging off, broken and twisted. I called a tow truck and got it told to the Ford dealership in Independence, were i bought my vehicle. After a Ford mechanic inspected my vechile the total cost was 8,500 dollars for the repairs. My vehicle warranty was not able to cover that cost because it was over by 5,000 miles. I tow the vehicle to my house to get the opinions of other mechanics to see if they're able to fix the truck. After the mechanics looked at the damage, they all said that it looked like a fabrication issue or a recall. A drive shaft should not just fall off from a 2022 F-150 truck with the mileage the vehicle has. Also, the Rear ends of trucks usually last at least 300,00 miles, and that part was destroyed in my vehicle. My drive shaft looks like it exploded in a unatual fashion. I have attached photos of the damages of the vehicles to provide a visual image of what the mechanic saw. I purchased this newer model truck, so I would not be in this situation. I have made all my monthly payments on time and have kept up with all the maintenance required. I am currently renting a vehicle from Enterprise to get to work, and I would love to get out of this situation. I was lucky enough for my car insurance company to cover most of the cost and for me not to sustain any injuries. I believe it would have been a different story if it had happened during heavy traffic elsewhere, where I could not pull over on the side of the road, my life could have been seriously at risk. We have taken our F-150 to the dealership multiple times for a clunking issue under the truck, and have been told that it is related to the recall issued. Although, it has never been repaired. We take it in a couple of weeks ago for the exact same issue that has been going on since October of 2024 and suddenly it is a transmission issue. We are told that they can gladly repair the transmission for $10,000 now that they put us off until the extended warranty expired. I think this is happening a lot, as the exact thing happened to my friend's daughter. Also, it appears upon doing a little research that 2021-2024 F-150s and Explorers have this issue frequently well before they reach the 100,000 mile mark. Many times before the buyer has even paid off the loan for said automobiles. This surely poses a safety risk, as well because you never know when the vehicle is going to fail. Also, my husband took his truck in telling them that it wouldn't go into gear and the shifter had a problem in February of 2024, it took the truck's shifter literally breaking off in the driveway (thank Goodness) and being towed in to the dealership before it was repaired.

I am filing a complaint regarding Ford Safety Recall 23S65 and the way Ford Motor Company have handled my vehicle over the past seven months. My truck has been held at the dealership since July 2025, and the recall repair has still not been completed. Despite this extremely long delay, Ford has not issued a stop‑drive order, grounding order, or any owner notification stating that the vehicle is unsafe to operate. The recall bulletin states the half‑shaft remains retained even if the bolt fails, yet the dealership refuses to release my vehicle, citing “liability.” Ford Customer Service has been unable to provide any documentation supporting the dealer’s refusal. Ford updated the dealer‑facing recall bulletin to require replacement of both half‑shafts if one side fails inspection. However, Ford never sent owners an updated recall notice explaining this change, never informed owners that the vehicle must remain at the dealership, and never issued any communication indicating increased safety risk. I, as the owner, received no updated recall letter at all. My family and I have repeatedly asked the dealership and my Ford case representative to replace the broken side and release the truck until parts arrive for the other side. We were told this was “not allowed,” but neither Ford nor the dealer can provide written documentation requiring the vehicle to be held. My case representative has been extremely difficult to reach and has not provided clear or consistent information. This situation has left me without my vehicle for over seven months, with no timeline, no communication, and no justification for the vehicle being held. This appears to violate the intent of federal recall law, which requires timely repairs and prohibits withholding a vehicle without a stop‑drive order. I am requesting NHTSA review Ford’s handling of Recall 23S65, the excessive repair delays, and the lack of owner notification regarding updated repair requirements.

My 2014 Ford F150 has a safety recall 24s37 due to the transmission violently down shifting the truck had the reprogram done in 24 that supposively would fix the issue now the truck has code p0720 and is violently downshifting on interstate almost causing accidents and need the ledframe replaced attached to this safety recall and known issue. F0rd told me since it had reprogram done even though part is failing they can't fix the issue. That is insane since it's a huge safety issue and the reprogram was definitely not a long term fix it needs to be fixed before this causes me to have a accident. This is my only means of vehicle and needs to be fixed right .

The rear window just completely shattered on it's own. The glass pieces were still mostly connected to each other, but the entire glass panel was cracked into small pieces. The vehicle luckily was parked at the time. But, when my daughter got in the car, she touched the glass with her finger thinking it was ice, and cause a section to completely fall apart, with some glass getting on her (one of the pictures shows this hole). It was the coldest day we had in NJ in a number of years. The front of the truck was facing south and it was cold, but sunny (high temperature that day was 19F, low temp was close to 0F). Around 3:45pm, I needed to drive my daughter somewhere, so I remote started the truck, which I'm not sure if it puts the rear defroster on. It's not known if it cracked before I remote started or not. The rear window has a center sliding window panel, which that center panel was perfectly fine. It had snowed about 5 days before, and snow was still on the ground, but the truck had been thoroughly cleaned and driven since then, with no visible snow or ice anywhere on it. The entire rear window glass was in perfect condition before this, no chips in it or any issues. I gave details to the dealer on their online chat tool early this morning, which I was told someone would contact me back, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I had read online about many other people having the same thing happen with their F150 around the same year as mine, so I wanted to report this, as the window shouldn't just completely shatter, and appears to be a known issue.

Truck would downshift so hard it would squeak tires. Took to dealer they replaced transmission saying the drum comes loose inside and oil passages do not line up. This year should be part of your investigation
