Driving along at normal speed, often on the highway. Truck in 5th or 6th gear. Sometimes 4th. It will shift into 1st gear. Other times it will shift into 3rd or 2nd and get stuck for way too long. I will have to completely stop for it to start shifting "normally"

I was driving down the road at 45mph and the vehicle suddenly shifted into 1st gear and rapidly slowed down. A malfunction indicator came on, I shut the vehicle off thinking it was a glitch, then the vehicle wouldn't restart. This occured in midday traffic, which could've caused a crash. Never had any previous issues with the vehicle. It cost me $1854 to have this repaired at the Ford dealer, they stated the lead frame connector had failed.

Vehicle was having issues with acceleration. It started subtle where I could tell it was taking a little more time to catch or switch gears as I accelerated. It quickly progressed as I drove it more (within weeks of noticing the issue) that I could not safely turn on to higher speed roads from a slowed or stopped speed. For example if I turned on to a high way, whether merging or from a stop sign, I could not accelerate in a timely fashion to safely merge at high way speed and had to pull over on the shoulder to let other cars pass until the truck could accelerate. I did take it to a Ford dealership to be diagnosed and fixed. There they discovered the issue was the CDF clutch. They replaced the CDF clutch and found that a valve body had some damage as well so that was also replaced.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 - 45 MPH with the transmission in 4th gear, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to 1st gear. The contact stopped the vehicle and waited for several minutes before continuing driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The failure had occurred twice. The contact performed a Keep Alive Memory (KAM) reset after each failure. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

Was driving my truck to work and all of a sudden it down shifted from gear 6 to gear 4. Then through up the wrench icon on dash. Would not come out of 4th gear. Code was p0720. Output shaft speed sensor. Once code was cleared, it was ok again for about 20 miles then did it again.

I have taken my 2017 F150 to Sunrise over a period of 3 years to ‘fix’ the downshifting issue on the engine. I was constantly told I was imagining things. Then the dealer kept my truck for 3 months while is was supposedly fixed according to a recall sent out in 2022. The problem was not corrected. Then in 2025 another recall was issued for the braking system and the emergency brake light coming on. Again, back to the dealer for recall repair. And again it was NOT repaired as the light still comes again every time we are driving on the highway. Our truck has very low mileage for 2017. Please advise if you can assist us. Once Transmission get at a hot temperature, the Transmission have a hard time shifting and down shifting. I have taken my trust a Transmission shop and I was told everything looks good and suggested I just get service. And I also was told that it could be a sensor problem. And the mechanic really didn't understand because I only have 147,000 miles and having Transmission problems.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving in 1st gear, the transmission violently upshifted into 3rd gear while the accelerator pedal was depressed. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving in the 3rd gear, the vehicle briefly hesitated while upshifting before suddenly accelerating with the accelerator pedal depressed. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where the transmission was serviced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign: 25E070000 (Power Train) and TSB: 25-2126; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,200.

Unintended downshifts, hard shifting, long pausing in-between shifts. I took it into a Ford dealer and they are suggestions transmission replacement. I'm looking online and it shows numerous recalls for these issues.

First time my transmission downshifted to 1st gear coming to a stop at approximately 35mph while gently braking. The leadframe turned out to be defective. Approximately 60k miles later the same symptom and same failure. The leadframe was replaced and that solved the problem.

Transmission down shifted and a wrench came up on the dash. I took it to a Transmission repair shop and they confirmed what the codes read, lead frame problem. I had them repair it. Cost me nearly $2000. I did call Ford in advance of the repair and I was told there are no recalls for this on my truck. Now 2 weeks later I see many trucks have recalls for this very issue, yet after checking the VIN, my truck still has no recall. I believe my truck should have the recalls and I should get reimbursed. My truck is a 2016 with only 82000 miles on it. Let me know what can be done to help me. Thank you

While I am driving in normal drive when my vehicle is in 6th gear cruising there is a shutter in the transmissionthat happens (like running over rumble strips)and only sixth gear. When I have 4 wheel drive locked in the transmission shutter happens in 3-6th gear and only happens at lower cruising rpms and trying to accelerate when I'm either using the pedal or cruise control. When I am in normal driving mode I have to leave 6th gear unselected so the rpms aren't too low to keep the transmission shutter from happening. Brought to the ford dealership and during the ride along with the tech he admitted he could feel it and could be 1 of 3 things the transmission, the torque converter or the torque converter control module. After picking my truck back up they said since I have no codes and they found a flaw in my rim. And that is what is causing the only sixth gear low rpm transmission shutter. And the shutter doesn't happen during higher rpms even at the same speeds. I have read up on this shutter and everyone was saying the same feeling in there f150s and was a transmission shutter. Don't want my transmission locking up at interstate speeds could cause losing control or causing an accident due to lock up

While driving my 2020 Ford F-150 on the highway, the transmission suddenly failed, causing loss of normal drivability and creating an immediate safety concern due to reduced vehicle control at highway speeds. The failure involved the transmission system, which I later learned may be related to Ford’s recall notice stating that the installed remanufactured transmission may be missing an internal bearing. Prior to the complete failure, the vehicle exhibited symptoms consistent with the recall, including harsh shifting, shuddering, and vibration. These symptoms escalated until the transmission malfunctioned to the point the vehicle was no longer safely operable, requiring me to tow the truck to Rocklin Transmission. The transmission was replaced out of pocket by that independent service center, and the failed component should be available for inspection upon request through that facility. The malfunction created a serious safety risk because the transmission could become stuck in certain gears, illuminate the check engine light, or potentially fail to properly engage Park, all of which increase the risk of a crash or injury. The issue was confirmed by the independent repair facility when diagnosing and replacing the transmission. The vehicle has not been inspected by Ford or other representatives prior to the repair because the failure required immediate corrective action to restore safe vehicle operation.

The vehicle continuously goes into limp mode caused by a bad sensor in the transmission, this is a known issue and ford has not taken adequate responsibility causing an unnecessary financial burden to vehicle owners including myself. This likely affects millions of vehicles with this powertrain and they need to be held accountable.
