I took the car in for a recall , 2 months ago and the car is still cutting off in traffic and at stop lights. This auto shut off , activates on its in and this dangerous.

When driving to town with family, drove over train tracks and all warning lights on dash came on and power steering was lost. I was going about 30 mpg and barely able to steer the vehicle to shoulder of road in a populated neighborhood. My wife and kids were really scared and i was glad this didn't happen in a much busier area. The warning lights were: Adaptive Cruise Control, parking brake, Lane keep assist, All Wheel Drive, electric power steering, collision mitigation, trailer stability assist, and low speed breaking. Reading multiple reports online [XXX] etc.), others have reported the same failure and issues with their 2022/2023 MDX, likely being caused by a faulty wheel speed sensor. If my wife was diving i would fear she would be unable to steer the vehicle to safety. i have not taken to the dealer yet. UNKNOWN Over the course of a couple weeks, engine has intermittently stalled while driving, forcing me to turn off the car in the middle of the road. Progressively, other electronics have also intermittent failed including power steering and infotainment system. All dashboard warning lights are on and do not resolve by turning car on/off. Generally, car is driveable until the random intermittent stall, which is obviously dangerous. 2 weeks ago, car had gone through state inspection and 30k mile maintenance without issue. Service station checked battery and alternator and no issues.

This is happening for the second time. Exactly same thing happened for the first time as well. I stopped a light. The car went to auto idle and shut the engine off. I kept my foot on the break pedal until the green. When I release the pedal, the car didn't restart and it went to neutral. I pushed the drive button but it didn't change. I had to shut off everything by pressing the stop button and I started the car again. I was maneuvering to park my car in a parking lot. Driving down the traffic lane of the parking lot, I slowed, braked and turned left 90 degrees into the parking space with my foot still on the brake. I reached the end of the parking space and prepared to shut the engine down. I remember looking at the shift console to find the park button when the car bolted forward. The car went over the concrete curb, clipping a tree and through bushes beyond the parking space. The car proceeded down the embankment of a dry retention basin, across rip rap stone of the basin then up the other bank to the next parking lot. I was pushing hard on the brake petal the entire time with no results. The car just kept moving forward. I’m now thinking “How am I going to stop this car before it enters the busy street ahead?”. Once in this second parking lot, with a bit of mental clarity, I purposely slid my foot across the brake petal a very little bit, right to left, confirming to myself that I had not been on the accelerator. I did not lift my foot off the pedal to reposition my foot. Somehow, I was able to stop the car, or the car stopped itself in this parking lot. I was lucky that nobody else was involved or injured and there was no additional property damage beyond my vehicle. At this time, I’m not sure I will be able to trust this car again. Have there been other incidences of this ‘Sudden Unintended Acceleration’ happening to other Acura owners? Can I expect this to happen again to me?

Paint peeling on roof , there is an existing issue regarding mdx pearl white paint peeling but only covered 2014 to 2016. My 2017 pearl white mdx also has the same issue, and a lot more people complaining as well online. I contacted acura and they said that my vin number is not part of the issue . Which is BS. My car has only 31,000 miles eventhough its almost 7 yrs old , it is well kept , garaged suv .

Its a known issue with my 2020 Acura MDX it has an issue with the autoidle completely turning off the engine, so you pull up to a red light and the engine goes into Autoidle mode and then completely turns OFF the engine so you are stuck in the middle of the road for a few minutes and then you have to wait for the car to allow you to turn it back on. Acura is aware of the issue and sent a letter to consumers for a mandatory software update to fix the issues. After experiencing this, I took it to the dealership and they completed the software update to fix this issue earlier this year. But my issue is still happening and we got stuck in the middle of a road for 5 mins with a toddler and a teenager. Incoming traffic almost caused a collison because of this.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
On 8/20/23 heading south on I-294 in Chicago : in center lane with cruise control on and no cars close in front of me when the car suddenly started a hard braking without warning. No orange warning to brake came on but engine warning light of left of dashboard was on. Immediately turned off cruise control. Car would not accelerate and came to a stop on the highway. Tried to start without success, then restarted and the car came on but in neutral. It had been placed in Park before shutting off. Car started and drove uneventfully back to Indianapolis. Took to Acura dealer and diagnostics were run showing that "position range" switch or sensor had been activated. Told it was safe to drive. We do not agree and are selling the car. Dealer, or service Dept was very lackadaisical about the incident. I will contact Acura corporate headquarters as well.

When putting the vehicle in "Drive" it unexpectantly rapidly accelerated causing me to aggressively brake the vehicle. It's happened twice and could easily have crashed into surrounding property or pedestrians. I brought the vehicle to the Dealership but considering it is an intermittent problem they couldn't duplicate the situation. Acura said they have no record of anything like this happening. There were no electronic lights or indicators that warned me of a malfunction. The first occurrence was several months ago, and the latest occurrence happened two days ago

Multiple times when I have come to a stop (traffic light, stop sign, etc.) my MDX has shifted itself into "Neutral" and it appears the engine has cut off by the battery power is still on, my MDX will not shift back into "Drive" or "Park"; I then have to press then "Engine On" button multiple times to get the battery power to shut off and then I can restart my MDX and then my MDX will shift into "Drive." I took it to my Acura Dealer and they said they checked it and there was nothing wrong and they also told me there had not been any recalls on my MDX.

When pulling into traffic the car wants to hesitate almost like stalling when going from 1st to 2nd gear 1st thing in the morning. Almost causing a crash it does it every morning after the car is driving the car for a while it no longer does it. There are no check engine lights on

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On at least 5 occasions my automatic braking system has engaged when there were no obstacles in front of the vehicle. This has happened when driving at higher speeds (approx. 50 mph) on Lake Shore Drive in the city of Chicago as well at speeds below 30 mph along residential streets in my neighborhood. When I mentioned this to the dealership, I was told that perhaps there was interference from metal guardrails during the higher speed triggering of the brakes. The residential area incidents have occurred when there was no cars or pedestrians anywhere on the street. I am worried that I will be rear ended because the braking is occurring unexpectedly with clear roads ahead.

Paint is peeling and coming off of my roof, good and tail end of my suv. This can be a safety hazard if it continues to peel because that removes a layer of cover from the top which could lead to danger. The color is a pearl white. This has not been confirmed by a local dealer but it has been inspected by an insurance adjuster.

We purchased a certified pre-owned Acura MDX 2020 in Feb of this year. In four separate instances, after the auto engine idle feature is on, the car stalls out and shuts off. Two of the four times this has happened on a highway causing extreme stress. When I lift my foot of the brake to start moving, the car shifts into park and I get a message that I need to start the car before I can move the car back into Drive. I have to keep pumping the breaks and pushing the on button multiple times before the car will restart. This is extremely dangerous, especially with our two little girls in the car. When trying to restart the car, a red battery light will show up on the screen very briefly but goes away. After the car is successfully started, there are no battery warnings. In normal situations, the car starts with no issues. We have a service appointment tomorrow to have this checked by Acura.

The contact owns a 2017 Acura MDX. The contact stated while at a stop light, the vehicle would not shift out of park. The contact attempted shifting into another gear however, the vehicle would not shift out of park. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, because the vehicle would not shift out of park, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available.

The front bumper of the car is becoming unattached. There is a space underneath the headlights. The panel gap between the fender and front bumper has grown at the top, indicating the bumper is slipping from the top down. The problem appears to be getting worse. The plastic underneath the bumper is now becoming detached. I fear some of the clamps behind the bumper have failed. I also fear this may begin impacting critical systems and sensors behind the bumper. The Acura dealer denies any issue exists.

2016 Acura MDX in White Diamond Pearl with peeling paint just above windshield. There is a Service Bulletin (19-029) but I am told that my VIN is not covered. Same problem and same color within the year models. Acura has indicated that VIN was not manufactured where the Service Bulletin covers. Clearly, there is a defect with the paint regardless of where the vehicle was built. There is no safety risk from the defect and it is available at any time for inspection. Was unaware of the Service Bulletin until researching how to stop the problem from progressing since the paint is lifting and peeling off.
