POWER TRAIN
The engine began to misfire and stumble while idling. There was smoke present from the tail pipe when you would take off from the stop light. After Toyota ran an oil consumption campaign they came to the conclusion that the valve guides were bad and they need to replace both heads on the vehicle. It took 3 week for the repairs to be completed.

ENGINE
Jan 29, my truck went into “limp” mode while traveling on the interstate. I was able to move to the side of the road and safely exit the interstate. Took the truck to Right Toyota where they identified a misfire on cylinder 5. They reset the codes and did nothing to the truck when they took the engine apart. They claimed nothing was wrong. On Feb 22, I started the truck and it was running in idle very rough. I went to put the truck in drive and it wouldn’t go. The emergency brake was set and wouldn’t disengage. Took it to Toyota and the code showed cylinder 3 was misfiring. They took the engine apart and found the piston had a score marking. They are replacing the piston as part of the warranty. I am finding posts by other 2024 tundra owners who are having engine problems too. Seems to be an issue but nothing has been recalled yet.

On light acceleration to maintain speed or flow of traffic, there is a drivetrain shudder the reverberates through the entire truck. It most noticeable when coming up grades of any kind, but can be replicated in most driving situations.

I was driving around 4 p.m. when sunlight hit the engine hood. The sun's reflection went directly into my eyes and blinded me for seconds. I could stop before hitting another car in front of me. The way the hood is designed is dangerous because the sunlight hits the angle and reflects the light to the cabin, especially for the driving seat from the left, center, and right sides.The sunlight, magnified by the glossy finish of the hood's paint, burned my eyes, so I was blind for seconds. I had to keep seeing ahead of me because there was traffic.I have some pictures.I hope someone reviews this message and contacts me or Toyota before someone gets injured.

The fuel gauge displays full tank even though the tank is quarter empty. The local Toyota dealership is unable to resolve this issue. The fuel gauge malfunction happens almost twice a month now.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with the oil warning light illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V381000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,062. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Vehicle has major hesitation issues. If I am coming up to a light and it turns green when I am below 5 mph, maybe around 1-2 mph, it will not go. It lags for around 3-5 seconds before it decides to go again. Sometimes from a stop if I am turning left, I try to cross traffic and go, it is very slowly moving even with me pushing the gas and then seconds later it finally goes but almost causing me to get hit! I now have to make sure there are large openings because I don't trust the truck and the dealer won't fix it.

There is a drastic throttle hesitation. When at a complete stop or from a slow speed, upon accelerating, it’s like the truck needs three seconds to realize I’m trying to go forward. In certain situations, this can be very dangerous. Has happened consistently since I have had the truck for 2.5 years. I tell the dealer every single time and they can’t ever duplicate it and if they could, they aren’t going to fix it anyway.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
When at a 2 way stop sign, for example, I am fully stopped, foot on the break, I see that there is a break in the cross traffic that indicates that I am safe to cross. I hit the gas and the car does not move for a few seconds. By now the car has me in danger and the other drivers who are coming towards me in the cross traffic. I count on the car to go when I hit the gas, especially when trying to get across a busy street or accelerating from a stop to merge into moving traffic. When the car does not move for a few seconds after hitting the gas, I’ve now been put in danger and have caused a disruption in the flow of traffic as well as putting others in danger. No lights on the dash indicate an issue, the truck is in normal mode, and I have not had this confirmed by a dealer yet, but I’ve read many testimonials from other 2023 tundra drivers having the same issue.

After braking or coming to a momentary stop, such as a stop sign, the tundra’s throttle is delayed for 2-3 seconds. Full pedal to floor, no acceleration. Extremely scary when it occurs, results in pulling out into traffic and having to wait 2-3 seconds before accelerating. It seems to be the ECM hunting for gears after slowing, hesitating, then selecting 6th gear and bottoming out before downshifting to 2nd and nearly burning out as it finally accelerates away from rapidly approaching traffic. Often happens, or is noticed more frequently, when turning right from a stop sign. Please have Toyota fix this, they are not acknowledging there is an issue!

Hesitation From Stop and Surge Concerns. this may cause traffic surge, collison in my front for having no control of the speed if I end up pressing the gas all the way which it cause a quick surge of speed, due to the hesitation when pressing the gas, this happened to my car for a lot of times now which I ignored it until I saw the help from the Toyota Tundra forum, that I can actually send a report to NHTSA.

SERVICE BRAKES, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Truck hesitates when acceleration from a dead stop, brakes has squealed since new 1) when pulling out in traffic, truck randomly hesitates and then jerks to go, very concerning and unknown if i will pull into traffic and the truck wont go 2) brakes have squealed since it had 3k miles, very concerning that they will not stop the truck in an emergency
