The hybrid version of the Toyota Tundra uses the same base V35A-derived engine architecture, block casting, bearing design, and oiling system as the recalled non-hybrid vehicles. Toyota has not demonstrated that hybrid engines were manufactured differently or are immune to the defect that prompted the recall. In towing conditions, an internal combustion engine failure creates an immediate safety hazard even if limited electric propulsion remains available. Electric-only operation provides severely reduced power, limited speed, and restricted torque, making highway merging, grade climbing, or maintaining safe traffic flow unsafe while towing. Retaining minimal electric motion does not equate to maintaining safe propulsion under load. Additionally, a catastrophic engine failure may introduce metal debris, oil pressure loss, or thermal imbalance that can compromise shared drivetrain and hybrid coupling components. The presence of an electric motor does not mitigate the underlying defect risk or the secondary damage potential. Toyota’s distinction between hybrid and non-hybrid vehicles appears to be regulatory and financial rather than engineering-based. The same defect risk exists regardless of the hybrid system. I request that NHTSA evaluate whether Toyota’s exclusion of hybrid vehicles is based on actual engineering differences or solely on regulatory interpretation.

Truck lunges forward while driving ar highway speeds as if you have been lightly bumped in the bumper by someone. You need to give at least a 6 car car distance between your truck and car in front to prevent a crash. Truck has also been shutting off while exiting the highway. Will get "Put into "P" Start engine" as well as, "Stearing Pressure Low" alert on dash in instrument cluster information cluster. Also at low speeds in bumper to bumper traffic is shifting hard from 2nd to 1st gear. Truck was drop off to dealer on 12/18/25 after asking them to take it due to feeling unsafe driving it for 3 days.

I am submitting a safety defect concern regarding Toyota’s V35A 3.4L twin-turbo V6 manufacturing defect involving machining debris contaminating crankshaft main bearings. Toyota initiated a safety recall in May 2024 for MY 2022–2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX vehicles, citing debris left in the engine during manufacturing that can lead to bearing failure, engine failure, loss of motive power, and increased crash risk. In November 2025, Toyota expanded this recall to include MY 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra, MY 2022–2024 Lexus LX, and MY 2024 Lexus GX vehicles, citing the same defect mechanism. Despite this expansion, Toyota has excluded i-FORCE MAX hybrid vehicles from the recall population. My vehicle is a 2024 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX, VIN [XXX] , build date 02/2024, with 3,667 miles. It uses the same V35A 3.4L twin-turbo engine architecture and manufacturing process implicated in the recall. The presence of a hybrid electric motor does not eliminate the underlying defect mechanism (engine-internal debris contamination) nor the risk of sudden engine failure, loss of power under load, or unsafe drivability conditions. Excluding hybrid vehicles appears inconsistent with the stated defect cause and may result in similarly affected vehicles not being inspected, remedied, or disclosed to owners. I respectfully request that NHTSA evaluate whether Toyota’s exclusion of i-FORCE MAX vehicles is technically justified given the defect mechanism described, and whether additional investigation or recall expansion is warranted. At this time, my vehicle has not exhibited failure symptoms; however, this is a latent manufacturing defect with potential safety consequences. I am submitting this complaint regarding Toyota’s decision to exclude hybrid vehicles from an active safety recall affecting non-hybrid Toyota Tundra models equipped with the same twin-turbo V6 engine architecture. Toyota has stated that hybrid vehicles are excluded because they retain motive power through the electric drive system in the event of an internal combustion engine failure. This rationale does not address real-world safety risk and does not reflect the mechanical realities of towing or highway operation.

My Toyota Tundra (2023) has a recall notice due to possible debris in the engine that is over a year and a half old. This still has not been repaired by the manufacturer. I can hear sounds like knocking coming from the engine and I am concerned that the vehicle could stall or stop while driving on the highway with my children and cause a severe crash. How do I get the vehicle engine replaced expeditiously? The Recall is 24V381.

Vehicle lost power and wouldn’t speed up while I was on the freeway and nearly caused a wreck because I couldn’t get the vehicle up to the speed limit. I pulled over and after shutting the vehicle off for an extended amount of time I then restated my truck but still experienced a lag in the engine. I would press the gas pedal and it took a while for the engine to seemingly engage and take off. The dealer was notified and they stated “we know of the issue but there is no fix, no need to bring it in as we are aware of the issues”

Vehicle experienced a loss of power while driving on a busy freeway and an extreme lag between pressing the gas pedal and when the vehicle would start going again. Called the dealership and was told “that’s a know issue with no current fix” they wouldn’t even look at the vehicle because there is a recall on my engine for this exact problem and Toyota does not have a fix yet.

Known issue with these trucks apparently. Occasional throttle lag after stopping at a stop sign, with little response from the gas pedal. On november/december of this month pulling out into a main road with traffic coming, I stepped on the gas and experienced a complete "dead pedal". I stepped on the gas and had 0 response from the truck staying at 5-10 MPH. With cars now coming towards me quickly as I was not moving I floored the gas pedal and had 0 response for another 2-3 seconds until finally the truck jolted at an extreme rate of speed. *Also have a dash cam that recorded in the incident of me flooring it with some vulgar words as cars were coming and the truck was not moving at all.

- #11705631December 17, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V767000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) and 25V322000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The message "Engine Stopped" was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road, and the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that there were metal shavings inside the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, four weeks after the engine was replaced, while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that force was used to maneuver the steering wheel. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. There was an unknown message displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that an unknown cable was not attached when the engine was replaced. The dealer tested the battery, and the battery failed the test. The battery was replaced. The contact stated that the infotainment screen displayed the message "Passenger Side Window Open" while the passenger side window was closed. The contact stated that when the passenger’s side window was rolled up, the window independently rolled down a few inches. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

Tires have 15,000 miles on them and are the stock OEM tires/wheels. They have excessive outer tire wear and need replaced from this. Inner tire wear is on par with the center tire wear. Alignment is confirmed to Toyota OEM specs.

There is a well-known issue with these new model Toyota tundras where there are problems with acceleration. When at a stop and pulling out from the stop, the engine and acceleration hesitate, and there is a flag of between 2 to 5 seconds before the vehicle starts moving. The gas pedal is depressed and there is a hesitation or lag of several seconds before forward movement progresses. There was a Toyota safety bulletin update that was supposed to fix the problem and it did not. Many users are still reporting the same problem and it’s just as bad as it was before. This creates a massive safety issue when pulling into traffic or trying to increase speed to keep up with the flow of traffic when initially pulling out. My truck specifically is experiencing this anywhere from one to three times a week.

The vehicle is affected by a manufacturer safety recall related to the engine. According to the recall, machining debris may not have been properly removed during engine production. This can lead to engine knocking, rough running, failure to start, loss of power, or the engine stalling while driving. The manufacturer has stated that the fix will require replacement of the engine assembly, but the remedy is not yet available. Because of this, the vehicle continues to be driven with a known engine defect and no repair timeline. The main safety concern is the risk of sudden loss of power or engine stall while driving, which could be dangerous, especially at highway speeds or in traffic. The vehicle has been inspected by a dealer, who confirmed that the recall applies but could not perform a repair, provide a timeline, or confirm that the vehicle is safe to drive while waiting for the remedy. No crash or injury has occurred so far. There have been no warning lights or specific failure events yet, but the concern is based on the acknowledged manufacturing defect and the possibility that the issue could occur without warning. The vehicle is still being driven because there is no available repair, no clear safety guidance from the manufacturer, and no alternative transportation or loaner vehicle provided. The concern remains that the vehicle could unexpectedly lose power or stall, putting the driver and others at risk.

There is a throttle lag when I depress the acceleration pedal, the vehicle doesnt not move for a period of time ranging from 0.5 seconds to 3 seconds. This is more prominent when performing a creeping start where the vehicle has not fully stopped.

I've had a recall procedure done to correct an acceleration hesitation, but the problem still persists. When accelerating from a stop into traffic there is a significant acceleration pause before the pickup actually accelerates. I've had several close calls to being hit by oncoming traffic because of the inability to merge into traffic as planned due to the acceleration pause. The pickup currently has just over 56,000 miles on it.

Cherokee County Toyota sold me a truck that has consistently had recalls. Brake lights not working, back up camera not working, media console not working, evaportating coolant. I took it to Cherokee County Toyota several times with zero issues resolved. I then left them a negative review on google due to their lack of professionalism and honesty. They then sent me a text stating they refused to fix any of the safety recalls at their dealership due to the negative google review that they fully deserved. A vehicle without brake lights and cameras is a safety hazard. I explained that my children ride in this vehicle and it put my whole family at risk and they needed to service it. They still refused. Multiple calls to service managers, sales manager. Nobody ever called me back. This dealership should not be allowed to sell vehicles that have known consistent safety issues and then refuse to fix them.
