I was driving on [XXX] in Miami, FL. As I stopped at a red light, the STOP/START process powered the car down. Then, all systems turned off. I put the car in park and turned the key, the engine would not turn over. I was stranded in the middle of traffic. To no avail, I tried to start the engine at least five times. Strangers helped me to push the car to the side of the road. After about 15 minutes, the car turned on weakly. I drove immediately to the Toyota dealership. ENGINE
I was driving in the rain using the windshield wipers came to a stop and the engine start stop. The engine stopped and a warning sign came on saying the engine is stopped. \ power fluid low/ The steering wheel also would not turn. I had to put my hazard lights on, put the car in park and then restart the car.. this could be dangerous if I had been on the freeway.

On January 10, 2025, I was driving my 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross and entered a parking lot to park. I started a three-point turn to park head-in and was slowly turning the steering wheel to the right. I was about to switch from the accelerator to the brake when the car suddenly accelerated rapidly. It felt like the front of the car lifted, and I lost control, colliding with a parked car to the left of the space. The distance between the two cars was about 5 feet, and the sudden acceleration lasted only 1-2 seconds. My car has a proximity warning and automatic emergency braking system, (Pre-Collision System) but neither activated, and the airbags did not deploy. My husband, in the passenger seat, heard a loud engine noise when the car surge forward unexpectedly. After the crash, I parked the car, checked for any objects near the pedals but found nothing. The other car had rear bumper damage, and mine had significant front-right damage, including a severely worn tire. I reported the incident to the police, exchanged information with the other driver, and called a tow truck. I later suspected a malfunction in the throttle or safety systems, such as the proximity warning or braking systems, which failed to activate. No prior warning lights or issues were present. The failure of these systems increased the risk to both myself and others in the parking lot. The cause of the malfunction has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The vehicle’s onboard diagnostic (OBD) system could be checked for errors, as a potential cause of the sudden acceleration but was told that it is difficult to diagnose such issues and was told that it was slim to find anything even if I did a diagnostic check. Given the car’s advanced systems, I believe these components should be thoroughly inspected to prevent future incidents.

Toyota Corolla cross LE 2022 Feb. 17,2024 mileage 25,491 I called Toyota corporate & took my vehicle to Rick Hendrick Toyota in fayetteville nc on Feb 10, 2024. Neither party will assist me or acknowledge the problem. The driver seat moves down after raising it to the highest position on its own. There is a manufacturer defect on the 2022, 2023, 2024! After a few hours the seat drops 1 to 2 levels which is a safety concern as you don’t think about adjusting your manually seat every time you get into it.my car is still under warranty. This problem needs to be addressed immediately.

I was at a red light with my windshield wipers on. I then heard several warning beeps with messages stating "steering power low", battery low, and then the steering locked. I tried to turn the wheel after the last message came up but the steering wheel was locked. I couldn’t accelerate. I had to park the car and turn it off and on again. This has happened twice now and Toyota says it is “fine”.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the driver’s side headlight failed to provide adequate illumination. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the driver’s side headlight assembly. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 6.

Taillamps are inadequate at night. You can barely see these cars ahead because the taillamps are only lit up by a tiny dot of red light at the corner of each taillamp at night. Drivers of these vehicles are in danger of being rammed at night.

SERVICE BRAKES
Brakes were malfunctioning and did not work. I was traveling South of Hwy 99 in the middle lane and noticed the vehicles in front of me were slowing down and braking. I attempted to applied the brakes but it was not working. I swerved to the left to avoid a collision with the vehicles in front of me. As I swerved to the left onto the fast lane, I hit the vehicle in that lane. Myself, along with the 3 passengers were transported to the hospital. The vehicle is towed and has not been inspected by the insurance company. Police was called to the scene. There are no recalls that I know of on brakes for my vehicle.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The headlights on this vehicle are not safe. They have a shadow , or curtain over the top half of beam. This severely curtails your ability to see safely down the road. Going up to a hill, your ability to see road hazards are almost nill. You cannot see hazards to the side of vehicle , or above, either. My wife is a school bus driver, and is aware you should be able to see 15 seconds in front of you, or a city block. This vehicle totally fails to illuminate anything near that. And you cannot read street signs, unless they have their own lighting. We took it to the dealer. They adjusted the lights, which didn’t solve the problem, and now we are getting flashed by other drivers, and are causing road rage. Please help!

Dark spots on the road with the LED headlights on low beam. This is very distracting and causes me to focus on the dark spots. Very dangerous when driving on winding roads at night. A lot of deer on and on the side of the rural roads and the dark spots take my focus away.

Corolla Cross Hybrid SE- The tail lights are almost non existent. At night when I look from behind, the car is almost invisible from 50 feet away. Lic plate light is the only help. Looks very dangerous and scary to drive in the evening or in the dark. Please look into this.

After taking my vehicle for the hard braking recall, the rear liftgate no longer opens. The door latch is released and I can manually open the door. Once open the door does respond and closes with FOB or close button.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. The contact stated the vehicle was designed with the Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking. The contact stated stated while parked and pulling out of a parking lot, the automatic braking system slammed on the brakes abruptly while there was a pedestrian 25 feet away from the vehicle. The contact stated that she sustained whiplash. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle and shifting to reverse(R), the alarms sounded, and the vehicle failed to respond because there was another vehicle parked nearby. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times, where the failure could not be duplicated; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and a case was opened. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where a Toyota field inspector performed a full inspection of the vehicle several months ago; however, the contact had not been informed of the cause of the failure. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the field inspector's diagnostic report was not available. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The contact stated that she was suffering from Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and the vehicle failure had been affecting the contact's mental health significantly. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact followed up with the manufacturer, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.

As I stopped at the stoplight the vehicle enter the automatic shut off pause as it should when the brake is firmly pressed. when I released the brake the engine did not restart. instead the following message showed on the vehicle information center in the dash: ENGINE STOPPED, STEERING POWER LOW. then it prompted me to restart the car. I have to put the car in PARK, depress the brake and press my start button to restart the car. This happen in an intersection! This is the third time and it seems it happens in wet conditions. to temporarily remedy the problem I have deactivated the gas saving automatic engine stop. The manufacturer and dealer have been contacted.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Vehicle horn. It does not sound loud enough to be heard under all conditions by other drivers or pedestrians. Similar vehicles come with two horns: one high frequency and one low frequency. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The described condition certainly can put at risk the driver safety or others. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem was reported to the Toyota Dealership. They said that they tested the horn sound, was compared to a known good model, and did not find a difference in the sound intensity or pitch. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, the dealer said that it tested the horn sound and compared it to a known good model. Were th. any warning lamps, mess. or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. When I first took delivery of the vehicle, the horn sounded louder. Below is a copy of the email I sent to Mossy Toyota dealership in San Diego, CA on 11/30/2023: Brian, This morning I left my Green 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE for repair. One of the issues, in the list is the horn not working correctly. FYI, the Cross has TWO horns. One high note and one low note. Horn - Repair or Replace Did you know most vehicles have two horns that sound in concert? If your horn suddenly sounds thin or weak, your 2023 TOYOTA Corolla Cross may need to have its horn replaced. The roof rack is “attached” to the vehicle with glue. The entire back half of both sides of the roof rack are completly separated from the roof of the vehicle, I can stick my hand under it. I have had them replaced 4 times and they continue to not be adhered. They say there is no solution.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
After turning left into a parking spot,car did not stop as usual.The car went over curb and hit a 'no overnight parking sign.The collision bent the sign pole and damaged my driver front black bumper. I was stunned and did not realize it was a vehicle error, at first. I have owned the vehicle 6 months and have had difficulty understanding the technical aspects of it. I searched online and found the recall, but have not been officially notified yet. I had a similar incident the first month i owned it. I turned left into a parking spot, the car did not stop until hitting bushes in front of me. At that time I thought it was my error. No, it has not been inspected. I was distraught and decided to leave it as is. This is very dangerous,as I could have hit a pedestrian or crashed down a hill.
